I have never read it. I haven't read a LOT of the classics. I recently got a Kindle and have downloaded several freebie classics that I have wanted to read fore a long time.
I have been involved with several challenges here on GR that I haven't read any of them yet. This is my first! Yay!!!

Web of Lies read 3/21/2011 4 stars.
I really like how Gin comes across as a real bad girl but underneath it all she's just a softy. It's amazing how emotionally strong she is and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I finished Darkness Becomes Her for my paranormal bookshelf.
Gave it 4 stars, it was pretty awesome. It was a refreshing change from other YA books, the heroine isn't some wimpy angsty kid, but a 17-yo that knows how to do roundhouse kicks and handle a gun. There was quite some Greek mythology as background which I thought was pretty awesome. Overall a great fast-paced read.
I'll write up a nice big review sometime tomorrow ^^

You're on your paranormal read, so I'll just list it under that for you :D Sorry you didn't like it so much!
Glad you enjoyed yours, Jackie M. & Celine! Lots of us are finding 4 stars so far in this challenge!

This book was amazing, the best in the series yet, the pace felt less rushed, although there are a lot of things happening, Rachel seems more in control of her powers and her life. She's also less judgemental and sweeter and the author gets to explore her relationship with other characters more. I loved that Trent was such a big presence in this book, he's my favourite character, also there are revealing glimpses of Al and the never-after. The ending was beautiful :), can't wait for the next book!

Oops - yep I meant paranormal. This is why I don't usually miss my morning coffee - bad things happen!

@Miss=I'm close to halfway through...been thinking it's a 5* for me, too! I don't want to read it too fast, but also am dying to know what happens!
Updates later! FYI, that makes 4/8 for paranormal=halfway there!

One the Edge Read 3/22/2011 4 stars.
Wow! I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down. Ilona Andrews is definitely one of my top ten favorite authors.
Rose is one tough cookie who has had some hard knocks in life. She is only 21 and raising her two brothers while trying to put food on the table and keep them safe. She always puts others before herself and nothing good comes from it. One word pretty much sums up Rose and that is survivor.

(BTW, will get team stats updated tonight...trying to read, and prepare for classes...eek!)
With Jackie M.'s post, we're at 5/8 for I1: paranormal.

Wow!

Our three pending stamps are very close --happy reading everyone!

Rachel's road trip to hell (or the ever-after) is thrilling, funny, touching and irritating. The story begins a bit slowly, and gains momentum, until you just can't put it down.
Trent's tight-lipped secretiveness was the most irritating aspect, and it made me want to reach in the book and shake him! However, it was also fascinating to learn more about him, and see him up close and personal throughout the story. That was one of the reasons I loved this book, those close-up glimpses in their character and their relationships with each other. Rachel's sarcastic wit and the gang's banter had me laughing at times, punctuating the intense action...and the action was fantastic. Seemingly impossible situations that somehow they overcame or muddled through, leading to an intriguing, but very satisfying end.
A few books ago, I had lost interest in Rachel and the Hollows, but can't stand not to "finish" a series. The last couple of books were really good, and this one just falls under fantastic. I can't wait to pick up the next one! Thanks to Ms. Harrison for a world filled with characters that are becoming even more intriguing!
Thanks also to Net Galley and HarperCollins for providing this ARC. This is one book I will be picking up at the bookstore as well to keep in my permanent collection!

I couldn't decide whether I thought this book deserved 4 stars or 5 stars, so I'm just going to split the difference and give it 4.5 stars.
Fallen was good. I enjoyed it. I haven't read many stories with angels. So, I would say this was a good one to read to dip my toes into the water.
I was kind of unsure about what was going on during the first half of the book. I guess now that I've finished it I get why. I wondered why things didn't get explained earlier, but since we're following Luce's thoughts, we can't know what she doesn't know ahead of time. Took me the whole book to figure it out. There's still a lot that Luce doesn't know about Daniel and the rest of her friends at the end off the book. So, I'm excited to read

So, I've read the first one and started the second, got 100 pages or so in, but I just couldn't get into it. I had given up on the series, but I keep seeing everyone reading the series on the SOS boards. I'm wondering if the series picks up or do I need to be patient and it will all be worth it?

Happy you liked Pale Demon Judithe, I too can't wait for the next book, 2012 is too far away.:)
Heather, the series does get better and at 9 books and counting it is a serious commitment of one's time but I have a feeling Kim Harrison will make it worth it for her readers with a fabulous ending (there are still 3-4 books to go). I also lost interest around book 6 or 7, but I'm really glad I continued.

Here's my review:
Holy crap! Evil vamps, biker vamp hunters, creepy college guys, crazy chicks, zombies, etc.... This book has it all.
I bet Claire didn't think all that crazy stuff was going to happen when she decided to go to school in Morganville. I nearly forgot half the time that the real reason she is there is to go to school. Doesn't seem like she gets to classes a whole lot.
I enjoyed the book. Claire had quite a few different problems to solve in this one. Luckily, she's pretty smart and resourceful. Love her. Love Shane too. Boy sure has a bunch of problems though. Heck. I love them all. Eve and her Goth-ness and poor Michael, the four of them make a great little family. Can't wait to read the next one.
Stamp time! :-D
