Have you read Bitten? Stray is pretty similar but gets more unique as it goes on. Definitely worth a read though :)

Miss | 259 comments Finished Black Dust Mambo for my free space read - 03/12, 4 stars

This was one of those books that is so fast-paced and gripping that you feel like you can't come up for air some of the time, it was really draining, but in a good way. I couldn't get too attached to the characters as the viewpoint hopped arround so much and the love-interest, Layne, was inhabited for 80% of the time by a brittish gay illusionist(I liked Antoine by the way), so i couldn't really feel the spark between him and Kallie. Things get even more complicated when you take into consideration his ex, who still has feelings for him.
Will continue with the series, and also check out the author's other works, he seems to have a good grip on dark UF.

Nairabell | 634 comments Just finished Storm Glass and it was seriously awesome - as in I'm starting the next book as soon as I've got my CSI:NY fix :) My full review is here.

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments Oh my gosh. A new shelf! I need to finish my last book.

For my Shifters book, I pick Playing With Fire (Silver Dragons, #1) by Katie MacAlister . I'm wondering if I'll like this series as much as I liked the Aisling Grey: Guardian series. That series made me giggle. Haha.

Judithe | 6566 comments Flirt (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter) by Laurell K. Hamilton 3/14/11 3.5*'s

Anita is back in this rather short novel. Her supporting cast included Micah, Nathanial and Jason, but the emphasis was more on her job rather than cavorting with the boys. It felt more like a novella (larger print, short page count) but was a nice story. It was a little predictable (I felt), but I enjoyed Ms. Hamilton's short article at the end a lot. While this series is no longer in my top favorites, I still enjoy it, and will keep reading.

message 176: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments I am attached to that series too Judithe, since it was my first UF series and I was fascinated at the time. Not sure how I would feel about it if I started reading it now...

message 177: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments :D Alyssa, don't worry about it, I was very busy last week also, couldn't read a page, but then I had some time during the weekend and finished both my reads.
This is a competition and we have to rely on our teammates, but it will also get to be fun, you'll see.:)

Yeah, I've read Bitten, and I loved it (: If the characters in Stray are as good as the characters in the Women of the Otherworld then I'll be fine.

It was my "first" recent one (after a break of many years...I had to leave most of my vampire collection in the States when I moved to Japan, and just couldn't find more here), and I'm sure I'll keep reading Anita's stories. And now, I just LOVE how the market has exploded, so many good writers and series out there!

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I finished Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead for part-of-a-series.

FIVE STARS

O M G! This book was jaw dropping for me. I swear my mouth was probably hanging open half the time I was reading this book. It was sooo awesome!!!

I'm interested to see what Richelle Mead's spin off series Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead will be like.

Judithe | 6566 comments Yay, Alyssa! That's a series I'm looking forward to starting soon!

I borrowed an idea from Steph, and worked up a stat sheet for us. I'll put the link on page 1 (where updates are in Post #8). I've updated up to Alyssa's post above. Check and let me know if anything needs to be fixed!

I did set it to "anybody who has the link can view"...but can't actually check that it's working ok all by myself! LOL. I'm still learning on google.docs!

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments Judithe, when I clicked on it a little bit ago, between your posts 186 and 187, it asked me if I wanted to request permission, which I did. I then got your e-mail, and with that I could open it.

Judithe | 6566 comments OK...I'll have to fiddle with it some more!

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I just finished Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn on 3/14/11 for shifters. I give it 3 *'s. The book started out slower than I would have liked, I wasn't sure if I would want to read further on in the series. By about half way through though, I got really into it and enjoyed the book. I appreciated Kitty's humor and how she interacted with the other characters.

That's one I'm enjoying more as I read further into the series.

I was hoping that was the case, great to know, thank you! I will be interested to see what happens in the next book after how the first one ended. I always love a sarcastic character so once Kitty started to develop in the first book, I found it a lot more fun.
