Good luck with all your reading, Celine! Are the all textbooks, or some lit books mixed in?

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments Okay, I finished reading Born to Bite (Argeneau Vampires, #13) by Lynsay Sands on 3/8/11, 3*'s So far I have really enjoyed this series, but this was not one of my favorites. The plot of this book was fairly easy to figure out early on, but it was still fun to read.

Also, I have an e-book due at the library next week so I think I will change my free space to take advantage of this book. I will be reading Night's Cold Kiss (Dark Brethren, #1) by Tracey O'Hara for my free space. I have Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward at home and will save for another shelf

Zaanodes, I am glad you liked this one better. I just finished River Marked and I have to say that Mercy Thompson and the Alpha and Omega books that go with them are some of my favorite. I just love her books!

Judithe | 6566 comments I'm in the "Love-love-love" Mercy plus Alpha & Omega series, so glad to hear it's improving for you!

Heather, I'm updating your selections/status. Could you edit your message to include the date you finished Born to Bite? Night's Cold Kiss is a new one for me, so looking forward to hearing what you have to say about it!

They're all literature books, but only those hardcore literature books nobody really likes. I've already finished 2 of the 9 now so I'm right on schedule (:

message 112: by Cee (new)

Cee | 180 comments Hehe, no problem. I've posted a picture of the books I have to read here on my blog. They're all Dutch literature books so I don't think you've heard of them (: We're only allowed to read books written by Dutch writers, not even one translated work. I think that's rather petty, but it's how the system works.

I just finished Het boek van violet en dood by Gerard Reve

message 113: by Nairabell (last edited Mar 09, 2011 05:11AM) (new)

Nairabell | 634 comments Eeek - that is a massive list! I suck at reading in different languages, and I buy english translations of the ones I could probably scrape by in like Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

message 114: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Awwww...don't envy you! Wade through and get back to what you love! Enjoyed poking around your blog a bit, too!

message 115: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments I liked Mercy enough to give Alpha & Omega a short. I have read the first short and the first novel of the A&O. I like them a WHOLE lot better than the first 2 Mercy books.

I will admit sometimes it takes me a few books to warm up.

message 116: by Cee (new)

Cee | 180 comments It's a massive list indeed... Luckily, Dutch is my first language so language-wise it's not that hard for me. Still, those are a lot of books I don't enjoy. I can't wait to return to the paranormal world I adore :D I'm glad you liked it Judithe, thanks for the follow (:

message 117: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I just finished up my part-of a -series- book.

Linger read 3/9/2011 3 stars.
For me Linger was not as good as Shiver, but still good. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Sam and Grace. I am really looking forward to the last book to see how things wrap up.

Judithe | 6566 comments Admin type stuff announcement:

I'm keeping track of our team's reads in Post 8 and Post 9. Steph also updates the status & stamp sheet for all teams looking at that, and our individual "Book read!" posts.

If you see that one of your books hasn't been updated in both (or either...eek...trying to avoid that at all costs so we can get our stamp!!), be sure to let me know (PM or here!), so we can get you credited quickly. Thanks!

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments For my free space I read Night's Cold Kiss (Dark Brethren, #1) by Tracey O'Hara on 3/10/11 and gave it 4 *'s. I really enjoyed this book, there was a lot of action to keep me interested. For those of you that haven't read these, of the series I have read, this probably most resembles the Chicagoland Vampire series, which is one of my favorites. Antionette, the lead character, works for an angency that hunts Aerternus(vampires) that have turned Dreniac(rogue). I will definitely continue to read this series.

Chicagoland Vampires is one of my fave series too. Aren't you dying for the new book to come out!?

I'm gonna have to read Night's Cold Kiss (Dark Brethren, #1) by Tracey O'Hara and see what it's like.

Judithe | 6566 comments Chicagoland Vampires is one of those I've been meaning to start, but haven't yet. Is there something particular you love about it?

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments Judithe wrote: "Chicagoland Vampires is one of those I've been meaning to start, but haven't yet. Is there something particular you love about it?"

I read a lot of posts in the SOS group that talked about how good the Chicagoland Vampire books were, but was skeptical. The series is now one of my tops favorites with Sookie, Mercy and Alpha Omega. I read all three books in about five days and can't wait for the new one to come out. I like the angle it has on the vampire world and there is plenty of action with some romance. For me, I just liked the characters and their lives a whole lot more than other series I have read. I finished the Fever series right before I read these and worried any book would be a let down after those, but I loved these books.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments I'm not on your team but I just wanted to say that I've heard everything you said about the "Chicagoland Vampires" from a lot of friends. It sounds fantastic & book #1 has been on my TBR shelf for awhile. The one thing keeping me from trying it is the price. It's very high in print & absolutely ridiculous in ebook (almost $2 more on book 1 & $3-4 more on books 2-3) . I'd think about paying $10 by an author or in a series I love but not for a 1st book. I'd be willing to jump on the fanwagon if the books were cheaper.

I completely understand. I was very lucky and was able to get all three from the library or else I might not have tried them. Although, after reading them, I did go out and buy them to read again in the future. I had a great coupon at the bookstore and really enjoy rereading my favorite series.

When I read the first one, I got it through my library's interloan system. If you wanted to read it, maybe you could get it from your library, or maybe they have some kind of interloan system where you could get it sent to your library from another. Maybe you've already checked though. Hope this helps if you haven't.

I don't know what I'd do if my library didn't have this interloan system thing. Wait, I do know, I'd be way broke from spending all my money on books. :-)

I'm planning to reread Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill before Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) by Chloe Neill comes out. Can't wait.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I was glad to be pushed politely nudged into starting that series (CV). :) I enjoyed 1 & 3 better than 2, but all have been 4-5★ for me so far. Anxious to move on with the series too.

Hope the prices dip, allowing ya'll to give it a go too.

I feel for ya, Judithe. Gotta suck not having one. Anytime I begin to B&M about the minis we have here, I think of you w/out.

If you like Cassandra, you will like Dorina I think. I may actually like Dorina better, if I just go by my feelings of Cassandra, book 1 to Dorina, book 1.

message 136: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Thanks, Heather. We're fine (family, close friends), but one of our employees is stranded in Tokyo (he was supposed to come home yesterday...we're not sure when he'll be back now, but he's OK). Some small interruptions in daily life (still under major tsunami alert so some roads are closed, lots of public service announcements and patrols, and telephone/mail delays). We're glued to the news, and just feel shocked and heartsore.

Still waiting to hear about farther away friends, and hoping for their safety, and the safety of the rescue workers going in...

message 139: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments Finished Demonglass for my part of a series read - 03/12, 3 stars.

This book felt better written than Hex Hall, it had an easier flow to it. I liked it but it could have been much much better. For most of the book nothing much happened, just a foreshadowing at the beginning and then not very much. Everything speeds up towards the end and I can see that the author does have potential to be great. Unfortunately, after dragging the story and then springing the most awful williams on Sophie and co., the book just ends on a horrible cliffhanger with most of the characters presumed dead, the great war starting and Sophie escaping to her mum, who might also not be who she appears.
Needless to say I'll continue with the series, it seems to be developing into something a bit more than the usual ya.;)

And Judithe--you added Miss' book read, but didn't change your numbers--you're now 5/8. :) I was sneaking around seeing how the other groups are doing so I could go back & motivate my group with some competitiveness. :)
