Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Important Rule Change: All members of your team must read, rate and review a book in order to receive a shelf stamp

Let the game begin!

Our First Shelf is: 'part-of-a-series'
DIRECT LINK: 'part-of-a-series'

Good luck & Happy Reading!

REMINDER: Everyone may now start their free space read as well, if they want

message 64: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (last edited Mar 05, 2011 06:59AM) (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments So,I'll be reading Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins for G4 and one of these previous BOM's,(probably...it still might change!) Right Hand Magic (Golgotham, #1) by Nancy A. Collins or Black Wings (Madeline Black, #1) by Christina Henry , for the Free Space.

Once you've chosen and read your book, be sure to post the date you finish reading, how many stars, and a short review (review here, or post a link to your review elsewhere). Can't wait to see what everyone chooses!

message 70: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Thank ye, Steph!

I've noticed everyone has at least one book I haven't read, and that looks like a good addition to my TBR for someday, so can't wait to see the reviews!!!

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Oh, I've already added a few myself. Don't cha just love it?! :D

Judithe | 6566 comments Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins 5★'s 3/6/11
I finished this a couple of hours ago. Why didn't I post right away? Well, I was too busy starting Mockingjay!

I will write up a full review later on my book page, but initial impressions now. Fantastic, fast-paced, twisty, keep-you-guessing story...it's a disturbing and compelling tale. It picks up shortly after The Hunger Games. Just enough background detail to refresh your memory if you haven't read the first recently, but not too much that it will bore you if, like me, you read it a few weeks ago.

(view spoiler)

This was literally a "canNOT put it down read. I am quite glad I didn't start this trilogy until all three volumes were out...it must have been agony to wait almost a full year!

message 74: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I have some running around to to today but I will be back later today with my book choices.

message 75: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments Great review Judithe, I loved that series too, but be prepared because the last one is really grim.:(

message 76: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments For part-of-a-series I am going to go with Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater .
Still not sure what to read for my free space, I'll make that choice after I stop at the bookstore.

message 77: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Miss wrote: "Great review Judithe, I loved that series too, but be prepared because the last one is really grim.:("

It was! I just devoured Mockingjay after that. I don't cry often when reading, but that one certainly did it! I was pleased with the end, though sad in a way that the series is over.

message 78: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Great review, Judithe. Hope you enjoy Mockingjay!

message 79: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I did! Couldn't go to sleep until I finished it last night!

message 80: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Love those type books. Even though those morning-afters can be a bitch.

message 81: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments This time was actually OK, got started on it early...kids in bed early, so I got to sleep @ my "normal" time...hard to pick what to read next though!

message 82: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments When you have a hook, line and sinker book that won't let go, it's always hard picking after that. Nothing seems to live up to the fantastic book you just finished.

message 83: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments Agree!

Howdy! That's for Shelf 1, part-of-a-series, right?

message 87: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Yes, I apologize. I forgot to specify. I will edit my post.

message 88: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments No prob! Updating now. That's one of my all-time fave series. How are you liking it so far?

message 89: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Judithe wrote: "How are you liking it so far?"

It is pretty good. For most series, it takes me several to REALLY get into them. So, far it is not one of my all-time favorites, though. I would place it second-tier.

I am so glad that there isn't a BINGO police, otherwise I just may have gotten myself arrested! lolol

But I am having fun!

message 90: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments The book I am going to read for the Free Space is Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep .

message 91: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments So, I can pick any book that is part-of-a-series as long as it is linked to that list? Is it all right if it's one that I already have on my TBR list? Or does it have to be new to my TBR books?

If I'm picking right, I want to read Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead for my part-of-a-series book.

I would also like to read Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate for my FREE SPACE book.

Just let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

message 92: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments No, you're exactly right, Alyssa. As long as the book you've chosen is located on the shelf, it's fair game. You don't have to have it on TBR and it's ok if it is. :D Enjoy!

message 93: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Yay, Alyssa! Enjoy your reads!

message 94: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Good thing I am willing to do re-reads!

message 98: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments LOL!

message 99: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Shelf 1, part-of-a-series: Iron Kissed ] 3/8 ★★★ This book impressed me more than the previous 2. I cared more about Mercy. The narrative still feels...dispassionate (not quite the right word) to me, though.

message 100: by Cee (new)

Cee | 180 comments Sorry for the late reply, this week is terribly busy for me (have to read 9 books in 7 days for school) but I'm sure I can squeeze something in!

For book-in-series I'll read Haunted by Kelley Armstrong Haunted (Women of the Otherworld, #5) by Kelley Armstrong

I'm keeping the free space free for a little longer, so I can wait till my next batch of books arrives (:
