Jackie M | 695 comments For the 'vampire' shelf I will be reading A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole . I haven't read the first one but oh well, this one sounds like a good one.

Jackie M | 695 comments Judithe I have read 2 of the Riley Jenson books and they are steamy in my opinion. I really want to read the next one but I am trying to get through the books I currently own first.

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments This is not really related to the shelf we're on, but....

I just read Darkness Becomes Her (Gods & Monsters, #1) by Kelly Keaton and really really liked it. Thought I would let anyone who was kind of interested in it know.

That is the first full length one, and I read it first as well...no real "missing info" problems or anything like that, but a real fun read!

I'm looking forward to it! BUT...it's an e-book, and my eyes are tired. I JUST got my library card~and going crazy with my wish list, and I popped a WHOLE bunch of Riley's on there in hopes that I'll love the series! So off to curl up with Dead in the Family until I crash (sooner than later...sigh)

I read Darkness Becomes Her a few months ago, and totally loved it. It has a great mix of paranormal with mythology. I'd certainly recommend the book (:

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Heather wrote: "it doesn't really sound like a vampire book"

One of the demon brothers is 1/2 vamp, so that may be that person's reason for putting it there (although I wouldn't have). But, like Sandra mentioned, if it's on the shelf it's fair game.

Hope you enjoy it!

@Judithe ~ Hope you're feeling better! I'm finally able to breathe through my nose a bit. Hope yours stops drippin'. ;)

message 663: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I'll send you some caffeine!

OK, finished Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris , but review has to wait...sorry! I want to just curl up with another book and forget my misery, but have to cook, do tomorrow's lessons and help out spouse's restaurant over the busy holiday (REALLY? You mean you still want me to come even though I sound like I'm hacking up a lung...after taking meds???)

I'll post our pretty new shelf then finish up the other blecky stuff....including finding that whip. I swear it was here just a little while ago...maybe the laundry monster ate it...

I'll be re-reading Crimson Kiss (Crimson, #1) by Trisha Baker for the vampires shelf.

message 666: by Heather ~ Marceline (last edited May 01, 2011 08:05PM) (new)

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I finished Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione for the vampires shelf on 5/1/11 4*'s. After reading it there were a few minor vampire characters in the book, so it made a little bit of sense to be on this shelf, though, like Steph, I don't necessarily agree with it being on this shelf.

The book was good. Tayla and Eidolon come from very different worlds. She is a demon slayer and he is a demon doctor working in an underworld hopsital. Their worlds collide after an injury that Tayla suffers and is taken to the demon hospital for care. A discovery while in the hospital turns Tayla's life upside down. This was a light, fun, steamy read. I have book two on my shelf and can't wait to read it.

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments Some of you may remember when I asked for help finding books with characters that had a specific name. Well, that was for a challenge on this blog I follow. Thanks to the awesome help I got from you all, which made things way simpler for me, I won the contest.

There is a prize. It's a $10 gift card to Barnes and Noble. So, since you all provided me with some awesome help, I thought I would ask if you would pick out the book that I buy with my winnings. :-D

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments Judithe wrote: "I'll post our pretty new shelf then finish up the other blecky stuff....including finding that whip. I swear it was here just a little while ago...maybe the laundry monster ate it... ..."

Good luck finding it Judithe, that laundry monster is tricky. I swear mine ate my sports bra (I know, how did that happen, but it did) and about one half of about 5 pairs of my daughter's socks. Though, with the way she keeps her room, the under the bed monster possibly got those!

Zaanodes | 804 comments Vampire shelf: The Lunatic Café 5/1/11 ★★★ This series has been a solid 3 *’s for me. I read reviews on how great the series is and I keep hoping…It has happened before for me that a couple of books in I finally connect and WOW. But there is just something about the series…I am left wanting.

Judithe | 6566 comments @Steph, thanks, but I think I'm actually dead....lol...or maybe just wanna be!

Sorry guys, updates & review soon...a few more doses of caffeine, and maybe meds (but those just make me loopy or super-dried up....which can actually be worse!) I am on my third & fourth books this month (one on the phone, one paperback) which is the one highlight! Happy to be reading!

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :( Sorry, hon! I'm still medicating/resting, but starting to feel like I'm on the mend. Hope you will be soon too!

Go, Judithe! Glad you're able to rest and read. :)

Judithe | 6566 comments Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris 5/1/11 3.85★

I still love Sookie and gang, and enjoyed this read very much. However, it just lacked a little something...hmmm, maybe it felt a little like a part of another story, rather than a new story on it's own. I enjoyed seeing my favorite characters, and really should have re-read the last book...I had forgotten too many things! It was a fun read, and good to see Sookie recovering from her trauma, and coming back to her "normal" self. Looking forward to the next one!

Jackie M | 695 comments Vampires A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole read 5/3/2011 4 stars.
This book has something for everyone vampires, werewolves, and Valkyrie. Emmaline is half Valkyrie/ half vampire who ends up being the mate of the Lykae Clan King Lachlain. When Lachlain catches the sent of the mate he has been searching for for hundreds of years it gives him the extra strength needed to break free from the vampires that have been torturing him for about 150 years. When he finds Emmaline things really start to get interesting. Lachalin cannot believe a vampire (his enemy)is his mate. After many lies and misunderstandings the two of them finally become mates and seek the revenge they both need.

Cee | 180 comments Finished my paranormal-fiction shelf!

I give Every Which Way But Dead 4 stars!

This is the third book in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison, and I'm still really enjoying these books. This one has a little less plot and is more character driving. Good thing is that Ms. Harrison has created some awesome characters! I especially love Jenks. I'm growing to like Kisten. I'll be reading book 4 soon (:

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments Thanks. I'm soo glad it's back.

I finished my book for the Vampire shelf!

It's the third book in the series. I didn't write a review for the first one, but I did for the second one. Here's a link to my review for Hallowed Circle.

Fatal Circle (Pershephone Alcmedi, #3) Fatal Circle by Linda Robertson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book picks right up where the last one left off. The fairies have declared war is the vampire Menessos is not turned over to them. They are bond to the Earth through him, and they seek to free themselves of that bond by killing him. (Technically that is the only way to severe the bond though, so don't feel soo bad about it.)

So, add fairies to the list of things that Seph has to deal with. Some of the other issues on that list have to do with the witches, wærewolves, and vampires.

Because of the threat from the fairies, Seph basically moves in with Menessos. So, I got learn more about Menessos and his vampire followers. Now that I have have more information about him, I've changed my opinion of him. I kind of like him. He's lived a long time. It's been hard on him.

Some of his followers that were introduced were pretty interesting too. Hope to see more of them in the next book.

More of Johnny's destiny is revealed. It will be interesting to see how he handles things, and if it changes him at all.

Both Seph's relationship with Johnny and her relationship with Menessos change and grow. Even the guys might learn to get along. Not holding my breath though, they are guys after all. Haha.

Of course at the end, the threat of war from the fairies culminates in a crazy, awesome, epic battle. That one little fire fairy is freakin' crazy. I can't even describe it. I probably spent half of it with my mouth hanging open.

The way that the book ended, I'm almost positive that the next book is gonna pick up mere hours from where this one ended. Lots of things were left hanging. I wish I had the next one, Arcane Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #4) , on hand so that I could dive right into it.
