Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Decided to have a bit of fun reading Fifty Shades of Garbage - Allie Beck. See if this is any fun lol x

There she sat, the coffee cup half full and likely cold, gripping that damn book again. Joe had come home from work for three days in a row now this week to find Marcia sitting on the couch, legs curled under her, the dim light of the end table lamp casting a glow on her enthralled form, reading a book with a necktie on it.

message 1691: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Still currently reading Les Misérables and it's heavy going - the main plotline is great but the 10+ chapters of digressions he goes off on for almost any subject at any opportunity are beginning to get rather irritating.

On a brighter note, I broke my NY resolution (finally) and spent about an hour going through Project Gutenberg's 'popular download' list last night - got some goodies I can't wait to get around to!

message 1692: by Larry (new)

Larry Thompson (larrydthompson) | 1 comments I have been looking to see what everyone has been reading. I am currently reading D. P. Lyle's Run to Ground. Lyle is a really interesting guy - he is a heart surgeon and the lead consultant for TV shows such as the CSI's and NCIS's. This is one of a few novels he has Run To Ground written. His other books are "how to's" fro writers concerning forensics. We found that we are connected in ways other than International Thriller Writers. My late brother, Tommy Thompson, was a famous author. He wrote for Life magazine and published true crime stories in the Truman Capote style. Two of his most famous books were set in Houston, where I live. One was Hearts about an acrimonious relationship that had developed between hearts surgeons Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. Michael DeBakey over heart transplants and mechanical hearts. Doug Lyle was in training as a heart surgeon with one of their colleagues at the time Dr. Grady Harris. He met Tommy during the research of that book. Tommy's most famous book was Blood and Money, about a prominent doctor accused of killing his wife. Doug and I knew many of the characters that shaped that story. We had a great time at Thrillerfest in NY comparing notes about those times. So far I am really enjoying his writing style. I'll rate the book when I am done but I am seeing 5 stars.
Run To Ground by D.P. Lyle

Sam (sam222) Currently reading Dispatch by Bentley Little Dispatch by Bentley Little

message 1695: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) So I decided - as a quick Les Mis break - I'd pick up a book I'd been passed on from World Book Night, The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks , and read through it - all 309 pages.

It's not what I thought it was (yes, okay, I didn't try to find blurb about the book before picking it up) but it sounds alright, just not what I'd normally pick up... but hey, it'll set me on to broadening my horizons on the reading front :D

message 1696: by Sandra "Jeanz" (new)

Sandra "Jeanz" Am about 60% into Pure (Covenant, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout really getting into the series and definitely attached to the characters in this series too. I love the covers of these books too....I can't believe it took me so long (too long) to get around to reading this series of books. Thankyou to the author and to Kayleigh who recommended/raved about these books! :)

Then there's some great little novellas to read too. Kelley Armstrong sometimes puts them on her website as free downloads too! Hope you love the books too x
