I'm 20. I've also tried it a couple of times before. I tried it last year and the year before. I think it could be just how you view the book. I read Wuthering Heights a few months ago and loved it so when the challenge came up I thought now is the time and all that. I'm 2/3 of the way through it but it doesn't feel as good as Wuthering as there's literally nothing happening for me. Maybe what I was expecting isn't something that was required from a book when it was written.

Lisa | 9 comments I'm reading Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn by Kate Quinn. I was reading something on here, cant remember what it was and the person was reading Daughters of Rome. I had seen the book in the library previously and thought it looked ok. I decided to give it a go and am so glad I did. The book was absolutely fantastic. It was that good that I actually went to W H Smiths the next day and bought Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn, and it did not disappoint. I would recommend to anyone to pick up one of these books and read it. I was so enthralled how fantastic they were. I cant wait for Kate Quinn to write more.

Char (CharmaineElaine) Hi folks.

I love that you're all bonding over Delirium so I just wanna point out that it was a group read a while ago and that we have a topic where you can discuss it without worrying about spoiling it for those who haven't read it yet (in other words me). :P

I'll link you to it cuz I'm such a good mod. :P http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5...

I'm reading Swann's Way by Marcel Proust (I can't be bothered to find my edition of it right now, but obviously I'm reading it in French). It's pretty hard going. Proust has got to be the king of digression and once he's digressed about a dozen different topics, he snaps back to the first like he never stopped talking about it.

What's Ted Dekker like? I know he's a Christian author which is why I've avoided him till now. Does he have a strong Christian message or just basic little Christian influences?

message 1297: by Varian Rose (new)

Varian Rose It's been a while since I've read anything by him, but from what I recall he uses the story to get a Christian message across.

The things that annoys me with Ted Dekker is that he puts a romance in every book. If he just wrote suspense/fantasy with no romance sub-plot I think I would like him more.

message 1298: by Varian Rose (new)

Varian Rose Has anyone read Demon A Memoir by Tosca Lee ? The concept sounds good, but I'm very hesitant when it comes to Christian fiction.

message 1299: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) I am going to be starting Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder in the morning. :)

message 1300: by Torie (last edited Dec 10, 2011 09:30AM) (new)

Torie (keybender) | 10 comments @Rea: Dekker is ridiculously amazing! He is't at all the type of "Christian author" who tries to force his Christian worldview on his audience. His beliefs do influence the way he writes but I honestly think that even people of other religions would enjoy the sheer thrill ride that Dekker's books bring. :]
