Haha, I'm suddenly seeing the downside to ereaders. Actually I think the one I want has Wi-Fi so I wouldn't need a plug to transfer files. XD I'm sure you'll find it. If you haven't hidden it on purpose. =P

She says this but Tara loves every book you put in front of her. =P Don't you Tara? =)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) Oh, an ereader with wi-fi must be the most awesome thing on earth.
I have to find it anyway. This afternoon I'm moving back to my mother's house, so I can't leave without it XD

message 456: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) I assume it is. I'm not allowed one until Christmas.
Aaah, good luck hunting then. I can never find anything when I want it. XD

Oooh, I want to know the names of these books! Seriously, tell me. =P I know you aren't. At least you don't waste money on books you don't like. =)

message 457: by Jeshu (new)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) I just finished the iron king, and now I'll read shiver and the memory keeper's daughter :)

No internet! That sucks. :( I've got really really slow net here. I've gone from my 8MB (or 20MB, can never remember) connection to 512KB. It's like being run over by a tractor! Everything is so slow!

I'm going to start A Game of Thrones as soon as I find the book.

message 467: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Two days without internet? I feel your pain. We used to have really bad internet but we've got Sky now and they're awesome.

I'm reading Divine by Choice (Partholon, #2) by P.C. Cast it's bloomin' rubbish.

message 468: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) I'm now reading Divine by Blood (Partholon, #3) by P.C. Cast

I'm reading Fallen at the moment but I'm not finding it particularly riveting.

Well, I started A Game of Thrones but the prospect of getting through 800 pages (of small print) only to have to take on 5 more books of 800 - 1k pages was a bit daunting. So I've put it to one side and picked up The Painted Man (Demon Cycle, #1) by Peter V. Brett , which is only 600 pages (of equally small print).

Usually I always favour books over film/TV but I've decided not to read A Game of Thrones because I really enjoyed the TV series and I don't actually want to spoil it for myself.

Emma wrote: "Usually I always favour books over film/TV but I've decided not to read A Game of Thrones because I really enjoyed the TV series and I don't actually want to spoil it for myself. "

From what I've heard, the book's better. I've only read the first couple of chapters of the book and seen the first few minutes of the first episode on TV, though, so I'm not reserving judgement.

However, there are already big differences. Like when the young good looking guy, the young scrawny guy and the old man go to look at the village of dead people? In the series the good looking guy and the old guy get their heads lopped off (for those who haven't seen the tv series this happens like 3 minutes in so I don't consider it a spoiler) but in the book the good looking guy is killed by those pale-eyed people but then he comes back to life as one of them and kills the scrawny guy. I don't know whether this has consequences later on, though.

A lot of fantasy buffs sing Martin's praise, so I certainly mean to both read the book(s) and watch the series.

message 473: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) I'm now reading Elphame's Choice (Partholon, #4) by P.C. Cast I've not been impressed by the previous efforts in the series so I'm not holding out much hope for this.

message 474: by louise (new)

louise (monstrumology) I've finished The Big Sleep (Penguin Fiction) by Raymond Chandler and I'm now reading The Godfather by Mario Puzo

I have great expectations for it, since the films are amazing. Hopefully the book will be amazing too :)

Good luck with it then Louise! Usually the books are better than the movies, so I hope this is the case with that one too!

I finished The Painted Man. Took me like 4 days because every time I sat down to read someone came and talked to me. It blew me away. Absolutely fantastic high fantasy! Can't wait to get my mitts on book 2.

Taking a bit of a breather from the heavy duty stuff now before I tackle another heavy duty one. I discovered City of Masks on my bookshelf with a bookmark 70 pages in. Obviously it lost my interest first time around, so I figured I'd try it again!

The Painted man was a great book! The second book in the series was not as good :(

I just started reading Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis

I've heard that. That's a shame. I'm hoping he'll fix it all in the last part, though. Sometimes the best authors make like everything's gone wrong in the second book then they put it all back to rights and that makes you appreciate book 2 in a new light... other times they just screw it up even worse. But I'm being optimistic in this case!

I haven't read it but I've got it as an (unabridged) audiobook and I've listened to it countless times. I really enjoy the story each and every time.

Thomas Wilson (StorytellerTDW) | 9 comments Currently reading five books, about to finish "Escape From Second Eden" By J.L. Murphey It is a great espoinage story of a family that is protecting the U.S. Ambassador when the country goes through a revolution and becomes Shi Lanka. The best part about the story is 70% of it is true! I am almost finished with it! It's been an awesome story and I highly recomend it! I will write a review of it when I finish it!

Ooooh! Did you have a nice time with your boyfriend?

Back on topic I'm now reading Solace of the Road by Siobhan Dowd by Siobhan Dowd I've got to be honest the story of the author is really interesting as this was published posthumously.

message 490: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks at the moment. I loved the film of The Notebook but I've never actually read any Nicholas Sparks before. Not sure this was the best one to start with - either it's a bit cliched or I'm getting really cynical in my old age.

I think I have that book somewhere. I know I definitely have Mr Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange on my TBR. I'll definitely post my feelings on the one I'm reading once I've finished it.

The Finall Chapters were unexpected. The Verison I read was rewritten and I have to read the original one. I recommend who didn't read it, to read it!.
