Traci I'm still chugging through The Knife of Never Letting Go.. I feel bad because I'm not loving it like everyone else seems to. :\

Laura | 10 comments Halo, by Alexandra Adornetto. I only read two chapters so far, but it's different than anything I've read in a while.

Arphaxad | 335 comments Have started Crown Duel (Crown Duel / Court Duel) by Sherwood Smith . Finding it hugely entertaining so far! It reminds me of Tamora Pierce's books a bit :)

I didn't love it until the end. Actually I didn't love the series until book 2. Don't feel bad!

LOVE LOVE LOVE audio!

message 4357: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Finished Dark Lover... I'll admit, about halfway through I couldn't put it down. I stayed up til 12:30 to finish it... I'm eager to read the next.

Now I'm starting Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick .

Yeah, it's titled Sapphique and it will be released on 12/28/10. Funny thing, I was able to get the ebook edition loaded onto my Kindle right away. Maybe it's a UK edition?

Now I'm going to read I Am Number Four, which I don't have very high expectations for, but … eh. *shrugs*

message 4360: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I'm reading Crazy by Han Nolan (thanks to the rec. from my very NON weird friend Peep) and listening to Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta on audio.

"Todd?" :(

That book is in my to-read pile. Have to admit when I got it and opened it to a quote from Michael Bay (who's movies I can't stand because they are so bad) -- and then everyone commenting on typos, etc. -- well, it's still just sitting there. Thinking about reading it soon though.

Yeah, I've heard about the typos and such. Also I believe "Pittacus Lore" is James Frey under a pen name (or someone he's forcing to write books for him). Apparently he made his own publishing company to crank out YA novels, and there's some shady contract behind it, and … yeah. I don't really understand it, but it doesn't sound good. :P

Ohh, is it any good? I can't decide whether I want to read it or not. I liked Hush Hush and I'm curious, but it seems like the kind of series that might go downhill …

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I've decided to take the plunge and buy a kindle. Maybe I can cheat my way into some books early that way lol. I haven't decided when I'm buying it but after waffling for months and months now that the decision is made I'm excited.

For whoever asked about Jellicoe Road. Actually believe it's my favorite book (like #1 overall) right now. I'm surprised that it passed some of my longstanding favorites but when I think of Jellicoe Road I melt a little each time.

I'm starting the Knife of Never Letting but I'm barely into it yet. Was tired so only read a few pages to start. Need to get a little more awake before tackling it again.

oh wow.. you made me curious so I just googled it and came up with a very lengthy article about it. It sounds absolutely terrible. I read I Am Number Four and thought it was pretty bad but was willing to read the sequel.. now I don't think I will just out of principle.

Yeahhh I believe Maureen Johnson wrote an angry rant about it on her website. I knew before that James Frey was involved but I hadn't realized just how sketchy the whole thing is :/

Everyone has different opinions about this book, but I am enjoying it so far. My mom actually read it and she liked it better than Hush, Hush. Since there is another book coming to the series, it will leave you some unanswered questions, so try not to read it as a book that has no series to it. If that makes any sense, lol.

But so far, I am enjoying it :)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I brought home Magic Bites, Magic Strikes, Magic Bleeds and Magic Burns from the library today and I am REALLY excited to start reading them!!!!!

message 4383: by Kate (new)

Kate | 13 comments I just finished On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and it made me cry. The beginning was a bit hard to get into, and I found I had to go back and re-read the parts that were in italics, so I could try to figure out what had happened in the past. But Oh! Jonah Griggs? Wow. I liked him even better than Finnikin (not that they are really comparable) and I loved Finnikin. I think Melina Marchetta may be one of my new favorites. I really want to go get Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta from the library but I am forcing myself to wait...

Still plugging away at The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness . I don't know why but I am having a very hard time getting through it. Maybe it's "middle book" syndrome in the back of my head I just know the end of this book isn't going to be the end and there is no way things are going to work out for the characters. It's hard to get excited about it when you know there's another whole book until there's any kind of resolution. I don't know, maybe it's just the content that's bugging me. Not much happiness for Todd and Viola.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It says "Stack overflow at line 13756". It has something to do with the website programming and memory.

message 4387: by Julie (new)

Julie | 7 comments I read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher today. It was a great, though disturbing book. I is incredibly sad to think of how much someone can be affected by something that someone else thinks nothing of... very sad.

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I'm new to the group, but not to Goodreads. I figured since I keep a list of what I have read on here, might as well browse the groups. I think I'll fit right in here.

I'm about to start reading Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs.

Arphaxad | 335 comments Just finished Crown Duel (Crown Duel / Court Duel) by Sherwood Smith ; enjoyed it immensely! It was a really fun read, very quick, fairly light, entertaining, and I liked the characters. Only quibble: the climactic moments/ending felt too rushed; after the long buildup I wanted more time to enjoy them.

Now starting Raven by Allison van Diepen , which just arrived in the post :)

@Sara: Hi! I read Cry Wolf and its sequel recently..love me a bit of Patricia Briggs :) They were good reads, though not quite on a par with the Mercy Thompson books, of which I'm a major fan!

It sucks. Stack overflow this Goodreads!

message 4394: by Traci (new)

Traci just finished The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness (finally) and I guess I feel like it was way too long. The end was the only part I was actually interested in and I'm way too mad about what Ness did to my favorite aspect of the book to even consider reading the second one right now.

so now I'm going to go do some homework and maybe start Deadly Little Secret (Touch, #1) by Laurie Faria Stolarz later tonight.

I feel your pain! The Mercy books are awesome :) I read them all at a frantic pace this summer - got the first couple from the library, then immediately bought the rest so I wouldn't have to wait! And now we've got til February.. D:

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heather,

I highly suggest:

Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta The Year Of Secret Assignments (Ashbury/Brookfield, #2) by Jaclyn Moriarty
or really anything by both authors. Anything by Shannon Hale, like
The Goose Girl (The Books of Bayern, #1) by Shannon Hale When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead The Book Thief by Markus Zusak The Help by Kathryn Stockett

All of these impressed me. Any questions? Ask away!!

Keep going with The Ask and the Answer! The third book, Monsters of Men, is the best of the three (in my opinion). It's brilliaannttt. :)
