I can read pretty much anything, but this book disturbed me so much within the first chapter that I had to put it down. I still haven't been able to pick it back up.

I won't argue since some of our ratings are similar!"

Good idea because we do agree more than we disagree Bluemoon. Peep and I also have very similar tastes but I guess she is just "weird" not a snob like me. You must be flying under Shannen's radar Bluemoon. Keep trying, perhaps one day you can be called a name too! Dare to dream I always say :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I finished Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale and I really was surprised by how much I enjoyed it (it got better towards the end, really better). Khan Tegus was quite funny at times.

I liked that one as well. It is good on audiobook, but the singing kind of got old :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments There is a great quote near the end (mentions ankles-trying to trigger your memory) that I won't quote because it has spoilers. But it made me LOL. It's a Khan Tegus quote.

I'm enjoying the first one. At this point I'm not 'WOW', but it's good. Mind you, I'm not even quarter of the way through it yet.

message 4307: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq | 177 comments So I'm reading Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning now.. the series just gets better with each book...

message 4308: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Oh Wendy - they are so cheese with all the slang and vampire hotness but beware because they are also very addicting. And it is a sneak attack at that because up until the end of the first one you are thinking in your head I can't beleive that so many people - some that could be called book snobs - like this series, it is just sooooo cheesy. But then you finish it and want to go out and pick up the next one and the cycle begins.

message 4309: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wink wink Jaimie!

message 4310: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Heidi I wrote: "Wink wink Jaimie!"

Ha! Not a dig my friend - I like your and Peeps book snobbery. It helps me figure out if the book is something I would like. I have my own snobbiness *cough* beautiful creatures

message 4311: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Thats funny Jaimie because that's what I'm thinking. I'm reading it and going, "Um... it's just a vampire romance novel..." I keep waiting for that big BAM that hooks me.

How many are there? Has she said how many she's going to write in all?

message 4312: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments She said she will keep writing them if people keep reading them or until she runs out of stories to tell. There are 8 out I think - another one is coming out in the spring.

message 4313: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Huh... okay, well I think Number 2 is Rhage, right? I like him already, so I'll definitely want to read that.

message 4314: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments see that is Ward's genius showing. She introduces the brother she writes about in the next book in the current book - so you get just interested enough in them that you decide to pick up the next in the series and so it goes.

Exactly!

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Welcome to the club Wendy! You're being sucked in like the rest of us. And I would like to point out that I do not have weird book tastes, nor am I a snob. Actually, I couldn't think of anything funny to say after that. I just wanted to point out that the allegations about my ratings are untrue!! Untrue!!

Isamlq wrote: "So I'm reading Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning now.. the series just gets better with each book..."

You're so right, Isamlq! Wait until you finish Dreamfever. You're going to want to strangle KMM for the cliff hanger ending!

message 4318: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm not very strict on books at all. If I felt excitement to finish a book, say it made me stay up later then normal just to finish it, then it will usually get 4 stars.

If I'm reading and liking it but I don't feel that drive to keep reading then it gets three stars. If I had to pull myself through it it gets two stars. If I wanted to spit on it when I was done it gets one, lol.

Five stars are reserved for those books that make me laugh outloud, cry... if it evokes strong emotion in me it gets 5 stars.

Heidi Great rating system Wendy :)

message 4321: by [deleted user] (new)

im reading a boo called THE BLOOD OF THE FOLD by Terry Goodkind.

message 4322: by Karen (new)

Karen | 16 comments New to the group - I'm a YA librarian and most of what I read is YA! I'm currently reading Paper Towns by John Green and I love it- I want to read everything else by John Green- don't know why I put it off until now. Next up are Rot & Ruin (Benny Imura, #1) by Jonathan Maberry and The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson - both of which I've heard great things about.

message 4323: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Welcome Karen! I think the author for Rot & Ruin has visited this group from time to time :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Wendy your rating system seems perfectly acceptable to me. Though sometimes I might give undeserved 5s. But my system for 3s and 2s pretty much matches yours.

message 4325: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Sometimes I over rate things, and then after time passes and I'm thinking clearer I'll lower it a star, lol.

message 4326: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I've never seen that Adoration cover Karen, but somehow when I saw it I immediately knew what it was! Weird. Wait, not weird. Not weird. You hear that Shannen.

Sorry Karen, welcome to the group by the way!! I still want to read Rot & Ruin, too.

I have been known to do this myself. I think Peep the weirdo changes her ratings all the time too :)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Vincent wrote: "im reading a boo called THE BLOOD OF THE FOLD by Terry Goodkind."

I loved the Wizard's First Rule series up until about the 7th book. Then, for reasons, I won't state since you're reading it, I lost interest.

When I was in the heart of the story I was obsessed with the Wizards Rules. I kept telling my husband what they were, and I wanted to get them on a plaque to hang on my wall, lol.

When I ordered it for our library I was expecting the other cover, but I actually think this one appeals to my students more- slightly creepy looking!

Evelina C (evelinaguekguezian) | 18 comments I'm about one third of the way through Incarceron. So far I'm really liking it. Has anyone read it and, if so, what did you think?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I liked Incarceron! (That reminds me there's suppose to be a sequel to it sometime. I need to check that release date...)

message 4333: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I was not impressed with Incarceron. Quite simply it just bored me.

message 4335: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Alright, I am halfway through Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward , and it's getting better. Amazon has the first 6 books for 24 bucks, I ordered it... I'll catch up with you all before you know it.

Tracy, If you were disturbed within the first few chapters I wouldn't read the rest.
I did give the book 5 stars. The author did an excellent job portraying an under-educated brainwashed fifteen year old girl who whinks she is going to die soon. The book was distrubing on so many levels. It is definately not for the faint of heart. I cried.

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Wendy wrote: "Huh... okay, well I think Number 2 is Rhage, right? I like him already, so I'll definitely want to read that."

Book #3 was my favorite, Zsadist. That's when I was sucked in and stayed up until all hours of the night finished the damned books. ; )

message 4338: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I was reading about which book is about who. I'm interested in Zsadist, Rhage and Butch... I like Butch.

message 4339: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I liked Zsadist, Wrath and John Matthews.

message 4340: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I haven't gotten to John Matthews yet. I'm sure my likes will change as I read more. Right now I like Wrath too. Rhage struck me though too.
