Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments I just got and started reading Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and next is Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld .

And I'm thinking of getting Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger , is it good?

message 4102: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lyle I just got done with Soulless and liked it ( I am normally pretty picky). I will add that I listened to it on audiobook and I think that made me love it more.

message 4103: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I am not very picky and really didn't like Soulless. I usually like a lot of types of books, That was one I couldn't get into.

okay! :D I was gonna buy that instead of Leviathan coz the cover reminded me of mary poppins. >.< but my friend told me it was more on romance, and leviathan was more on adventure.

message 4105: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Soulless is more of a love story, I agree with that. Amanda I really think the audiobook helped me get into it more.

message 4106: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments Thanks for the input. I'm just gonna have to buy and read it to see if I like it. Or maybe find an ebook. ^_^

message 4107: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I will try the audiobook. I've really been getting into them lately, after i'm finished wiht Dreamfever I'll see if my library has it.

message 4108: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ohhhh the Fever series on audio was really good too.

Thanks, Shannen! I hope you find the story suits your tastes!

Heidi Carmel loved both The Book Thief and I am the Messenger! If you read one of Jaclyn's books I would go for Year of Secret Assignments - it is my fav :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I missed talking about Soulless!! DARN! I really loved that book and I normally hate romances, but it was witty & irreverent & cheeky in a way that works really well. The voice takes awhile to get used to BUT is great once you get used to it. This is one of those series that I wasn't sure I would like but loved so much.

PS I'm enjoying Bloody Jack on audiobook. Though part of CD 3 skipped so I missed a section :( But that's library audiobooks for you.

message 4112: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Welcome to the group Carmel! My favorite Aussie author (and really favorite author period) is Juliet Marillier. She's a historical fantasy writer with lovely romances to aid the storylines.

Fairyinahobbithouse | 10 comments Just finished Knightley Academy which I enjoyed.... Now trying to decide what will be next: Valiant or something else. Somebody give me a Must-read...

message 4114: by [deleted user] (new)

I am currently reading Halo by Alexandra Adornetto! <3

message 4115: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hey, two is two. I'm about to start counting anything I read as a read book. Like recipes for dinner. That counts, right?

message 4116: by Tintin (last edited Nov 07, 2010 05:36PM) (new)

Tintin (marimorimo) | 40 comments I'm currently reading Clockwork Angel, The Book Thief, and Tithe(by Holly Black). Out of the three, The Book Thief is the most enjoyable. Clockwork Angel started out interesting, but bored me about a third of the way through. I just got back to it again and now I'm into it. Tithe came highly recommended by my best friend, whose opinion about books I highly regard, but so far I couldn't get into the story. I hope it won't turn into a total dud.

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, # 1) by Cassandra Clare The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Tithe (The Modern Faerie Tales, #1) by Holly Black

message 4117: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleymabus) I'm currently reading Hearts At Stake (The Drake Chronicles #1) by Alyxandra Harvey and Wings, Wings (Wings, #1) by Aprilynne Pike and In Dreams Begin, I stopped reading it because I couldn't get into it. In Dreams Begin by Skyler White

message 4118: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay Bluemoon! I read two recipes - one for veggie chili and the other for cookies. I guess we are tied with two books!

message 4119: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle (itsmechelly) | 45 comments Currently reading PLL #5 Wicked (Pretty Little Liars, #5) by Sara Shepard and City of Bones City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm not properly reading right now because of NanoWriMo. Might reward myself with a little reading if I can stay on top of it.

message 4121: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments Started Ship Breaker (Ship Breaker, #1) by Paolo Bacigalupi

message 4122: by Rani (new)

Rani Killian (ranik86) | 19 comments I'm currently reading Dead Is Just A Rumor by Marlene Perez. I absolutely love her Dead Is series so check it out if your into supernatural beings!

message 4123: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I just started The Scorch Trials and am wishing I re-read The Maze Runner. It's been too long since I read MZ and there are no re-descriptions of people or a lot of re-hashing of details of events that are referenced.

I would appreciate the storyline movement if I was reading them back to back.

message 4124: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments I'm almost halfway through Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld and I really like it.

message 4125: by Rach (pagesofpiper) (new)

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) I'm still reading The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness and I'm really enjoying it. Quite a big book!

message 4126: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I got The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness from the library and have a feeling that all the other books I've found myself in the middle of are going to have to wait while I read this. I really liked The New World prequel (short story on Amazon Kindle) and think I'll really get into this series. (Which is good. I've been quite restless in my reading these past couple of weeks. Started about six different books that I chip away at until one grabs me.)

I didn't think Clockwork Angel ever got good, I definitely preferred the TMI series. I didn't particularly like Tithe, either haha

Hi Kourtni. I have a feeling that I will. I'm only a couple chapters into it and am enjoying it already! (way more than The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi - which I'm struggling to get into after 160 pages)

It's a good sign that you are liking it early on. It took me about 100 pages to get into it, but then it hooked me and it just kept getting better and better. The third book absolutely blew me away.

Very cool! I just have a feeling I'm going to really like this one, so it's nice to know you enjoyed it so much. Maybe I'll just plow through the whole series! (Though The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan does keep calling out to me.)

Sigh. So many books...so little time. :)

☼Bookish in Virginia☼ (ren_t) Just finished

and I'm well into

and liking both. Tyger is a light action/fantasy romp. Plain Kate is a little heavier fantasy about a girl who trades her shadow away.

I've got The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan waiting for me on my bookshelf as well! If only we had more time..

message 4135: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've got Lost Hero on my shelf too, lol.

message 4136: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments I finished The Lost Hero last week, and I can't wait for the next book. I think the release date is fall of 2011. =(

message 4137: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) So was it good? Did you review it, cause I'll go read it.

message 4138: by Heidi (new)

message 4139: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay for Knife of Never Letting Go!

message 4140: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Yay! LoL!

message 4141: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments @Wendy Well no, I didn't review it. :D But it was great! If you liked the Percy Jackson series then you'll love this one. It picks up on the prophecy made by Rachel Dare on the Last Olympian. I really liked the new characters, especially Leo(and not because he has the same name as my brother, down to the surname. lol), then there's the twists, and I like how he does the alternating third person narrative, with 2 chapters for each character.

message 4142: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Man, you make me so excited to read it! I loved Percy Jackson. I thought the ending was amazing! I won't get into it, because I'm sure people havne't read it yet. I did flip through it, not to get peeks, but just to see if it had some of the same characters. I saw Annabeth so that made me more excited...

I did see that you gave it 5 stars, so obviously you liked it. I can't wait...

Plugging my ears. "La la la la la la la". (Don't want to know what happens!)

I have loved all of Riordan's YA books so far.

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I just got The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff and Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler today from the library.

message 4145: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I want to read the replacements!

message 4146: by Traci (new)

Traci I picked up a few books today but I think I'm going to start I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak because it's the only one that's not the start of a series haha. I've heard nothing but outstanding things about this book so I'm very excited :D

message 4147: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Just finished Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick . I'd read some very negative reviews of this book, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. I can completely understand some of the bad reviews--the protagonist was incredibly dumb at times, and certain elements of the story seemed contrived--but nevertheless, the book really pulled me in. For me, it was one of those novels that I loved, even though I know that I shouldn't, haha.

Too bad I'm on a long wait-list for Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2) by Becca Fitzpatrick . In the meantime, I'm starting North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley .

message 4148: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I liked Hush Hush too. I agree with everything you said.

message 4149: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay to both North of Beautiful and I am the Messenger!!!
