Started Gone (where all the grown-ups disappear,I know there is another by that title) even though I shouldn't have because its so close to Mockingjay. Also found out my local bookstore has Mockingjay in the back room and will hold a copy for me on the release day. Yay!
My niece suggested Hunger Games sometime ago, and it was only a couple of days ago that I started. I was hooked. Yesterday I finished it then didn't sleep a wink because I HAD TO start Catching Fire. Now, I'm banging my head on the wall wondering if there are other novels just like these. I should have waited for the 24th, then I wouldn't have to wait for four days for its release! I can hardly wait for Mockingjay... just a couple more days... yay!
MOCKINGJAY! Only...four more days. Oh man, I knew I should've started the series today and not last week! I knew Mockingjay was coming out so I decided, like Isamlq, to read it for the first time TOO EARLY!!!
I'm rereading Avatars, Book One: So This Is How It Endsby Tui T. Sutherland. The library finally got the last of the trilogy, so I'm reading it again in prep ;)

No matter how good people tell you a book is you never know how long it'll take you to finish them.
Plus after being a Harry Potter fanatic....any wait is a cakewalk now.
Just finished a ARC of Beautiful Darkness.....it was pretty good a little slow at first and a bit repeative of what happened in the first book and I thought oh no is it going to just be more of the same but then it started to pick up and soon I was to the end..CLIFFHANGER!!!! All I want to know is when does the next one come out...LOL I have a love hate relationship with cliffhanger endings...LOLNow I am reading The Nightmarys
I'm reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick as my 16 year old daughter recommended it to me. I'm really enjoying it so far. Some other YA novels that I have read lately and absolutely loved are The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson (a Must Read), Shiver & Linger, and The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.
I'm currently reading Faefever and loving seeing V'lane more! I have Dreamfever sitting on my bookshelf to start next.I'm also listening to Pretty Little Liars on audiobook. Not sure if I like the narrator, she sounds young and kind of high-pitched...
Finished Gone. I thought the story/concept was really interesting BUT that the characters were very very un-developed. I also felt like the author tried to hard to make them teenage with all the weird nicknames. He also tried to touch on too many topics (have one girl bulimic, a teen turning to drinking, another who sneaks alcohol to a boy she likes....don't try to deal WITH every teenage pitfall because it feels like none are approached well). That said I'll probably eventually read the next because the concept is interesting.
Still listening to "Absolutely True Diaries of a Part Time Indian." I really enjoy the narration, I think this book is probably better in audio format because the authors voice really gives life to the story. It's a little disjointed, and I feel like I'm on a high then the bottom drops out and its low again. But a great listen.
Just had to say my copy of
was shipped yesterday! I was going to read it for a Sept. Challenge in another group but I won't be able to put it off. I'm not reading any YA right now, but the next new series I start will be the
series.
For those who have read Pretty Little Liars, is it any good. I have been thinking about reading them but I am not sure. I watched a couple episodes of the show and it was okay, so I was just curious about the books. Thanks!
I'm reading a non-YA book right now, The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larssen. I LOVED The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and TGWPLF is a follow up. I'm enjoying it so far! Also wanted to let you guys know that my second book, Guardian of the Gate, released through Little Brown this month (which is why I've been a bit MIA). Of course, you probably want to read Prophecy of the Sisters first, but I hope you get the chance and I hope you enjoy!

I read the first Pretty Little Liars book right before the TV series started. It was pretty good but in a very teen soap opera way. I haven't read any of the other books though which may tell you something. :)
Mira wrote: "I am currently reading percy jackson and the lightening theif! I like it a lot so far"I really enjoyed that series and can't wait for the new book in October! (Plus, I still need to get to The Red Pyramid)
Just finished
, which, as I'd suspected, wasn't as good as it seemed. But it was still great.I'm now waiting for
...which I'm picking up tomorrow, as soon as the bookstores open. - I'm not keen on pre-ordering things, so I need to rush out ASAP.
I juuust finished Graceling and I have slightly mixed feelings. It was good, but there were some little things that bothered me. Plus, many, many similarities to The Hunger Games series, and that just made me even more impatient for Mockingjay tomorrow! I will probably pick up Fire at some point.. we'll see. :)
Happy Mockingjay day everyone! (I imagine most of the posts will be "I'm reading Mockingjay!")Me...I'm behind the curve, so I'm still just reading Hunger Games. I miss being able to read more than on the bus trip to/from work. But, I love my son more than I'll ever love books (shhh...don't let the books know. I'd feel horrible!) :)
I might have to ban myself from any internet until after I eventually finish this series. Hopefully nobody will spoil anything for me!
Enjoy all!
You guys are torturing me!! I can't get into to get my copy until tomorrow, maybe thursday. The wait to release was hard enough but knowing it is out there and I just can't get to it is torture, lol
Lori wrote: "You guys are torturing me!! I can't get into to get my copy until tomorrow, maybe thursday. Guys I have to get stuff done today! I can't think about Mockingjay the whole time I'm here.
Borders hasn't called me about my copy being ready for pick up yet either Lori, so you are not alone in the wait!
Kourtni wrote: "My copy was just shipped today! I am waiting too. :)"I guess I could have just walked in and bought a copy!
I got my copy of
today in the mail and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. It is a great ending to the Hunger Games Trilogy.
I won't get Mockingjay until tomorrow....official release date in the UK. Hope it comes Amazon have dispatched and I am a prime member so am hoping it's going to come tomorrow!
I finished Take Me ThereI expected more, but overall it was enjoyable. The ending was a let down though, maybe the author will make a sequal...but i doubt it.
I finished
as well and it was amazing. I can't wait for you guys to read it so we can start all our discussing!
Finished Pretty Little Liars, Book 1 and now I'm onto Book 2, Flawless
. PLL so far is very good, I like them better than the Gossip Girl series.
I'm about halfway through Mockingjay, and it certainly is amazing so far! Will probably finish it tomorrow.
Finished Faefever and thankfully had Dreamfever from the library and I barreled straight into it! I know it ends in a big cliff hanger, but I can't help myself. I can live with it for awhile.I somehow jumped from number 10 to number one on the list for Mockinjay at my library, so I should get it anyday now!!! I guess we have a bunch of fast readers in my town.
literally just came in the post, guess I'm going to start and read that as soon as I am finished with
I lied. I finished Mockingjay last night. Started listening to Summer Knight by Jim Butcher (Dresden Files) in the car yesterday.Haven't decided if Im going to try to exercise/write/edit rather than read tonight. Gonna be hard to follow-up Mockingjay.
I think I am the only one who will not be reading Mockingjay..LOL. I never made it thought Catching Fire. Oh well..happy reading to the rest of you!!I just finished The Nightmarys and it wasn't to bad but the ending felt like it dragged on a bit and could have ended quicker.
Now I am reading Crossed Out its not to bad so far.

That's ok Stormi! Would be boring if we all did the same thing. This group needs spice!
