Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm listening to The Absolutely True Confessions of a Part-time Indian and at this point it is more depressing than anticipated.

I'm reading the Body Finder. (And waiting for Mockingjay and then later Iron Queen because I just finished Iron Daughter)

Heidi I love Part Time Indian. It is sad, but also hopeful. I think the author did a good job narrating it.

I just started it so I'm guessing its more upbeat eventually. The narrating is great, there have just been a couple times that its way heartbreaking.

I literally started it last night before bed so I haven't even read a chapter. Will let you know though!

message 2912: by Traci (new)

Traci I really liked The Body Finder.. but just know that it's hugely a romance story. :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Traci wrote: "I really liked The Body Finder.. but just know that it's hugely a romance story. :)"

I've noticed that it's more romance than I'd expected from the synposis I read. The first italized chapter kinda grabbed me though (Prey) and made me very curious as to how that fits in.

Plus I'm waiting for Mockingjay at this point.

Lloyd | 415 comments Well, I finally finished The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey (Mysterious Benedict Society, #2) by Trenton Lee Stewart on the bus ride to work this morning. (My almost-four-year-old son wouldn't have any of my trying to finish up those 20 pages at home last night!) This series is just a lot of fun to read.

Now...drum roll please...I'm finally on to The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins !!!

message 2918: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (librarymom12) | 5 comments I've had a lot of free time this summer to read as I've not been taking classes so my list is pretty long. I notice a number of people read The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare and I add my vote of thumbs up for that series which I read in May (my fav being City of Glass). I read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and can't wait to get my hands on Linger. I've also read the entire Artemis Fowl series, including the brand new #7 book (though my favorite was #6), and Mary Hoffman's Troubadour and her Stravaganza Series was awesome. Ooh and Derek Dirk Kim's graphic novel Good As Lily was brilliant as well! I've just finished Shannon Hale's Books of Bayern series (Goose Girl, Enna Burning, River Secrets and Forest Born), which was another fantastic series! I also love her two graphic novels Rapunzel Rising and Calamity Jack.

I'm a little over halfway through and I'm loving it. It's heartbreaking and funny, all at the same time.

Yay! I'm almost done with it. Hoping to finish it on my afternoon break. I was sneaking after my lunch so I could read more. It was hard to put down.

message 2925: by Traci (new)

Traci I really loved The Sky Is Everywhere, but my roommate didn't like it at all. I'm glad to hear you guys are liking it as much as I did :D

Ji Mei (jimei) So, I'm still wondering if I should continue my book Other by Karen Kincy, so... I'm leaving it alone and I'm going to read my history textbook for homework!

message 2928: by [deleted user] (new)

OMJ! Oh my Joe! Only a couple pages left!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Finished Body Finder. Despite being a bit of a romance was fine. Though sometimes it seemed like the main character's priorities were a bit out of whack. It was a quick, good read. Not sure what book I'm moving onto now.

(For those who don't realize, I'm not a mushy type girl)

message 2933: by Madeline (last edited Aug 19, 2010 07:32PM) (new)

Madeline Hi :) first-ish post here (apart from the initial hello!) I just finished book 7 The Inside Story of The Sisters Grimm series, which I love. The books are just so pretty on my bookshelf too :) all cloth and colorful. Now I'm on to Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors, Which is a cute series and is getting steadily more interesting.

I'm big into romance and so far this is right up my alley. It's mainly romance with that little bit of suspense and intrigue. I cringe and almost want to skip the italized chapters, lol.

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Shannen wrote: "OMJ! Oh my Joe! Only a couple pages left!"

Right?! I loved The Sky Is Everywhere! It was one of those books that actually lived up to the hype IMO.

Laura- I hope you enjoy The Truth about Forever. It's one of my favorite Sarah Dessen books.

I was exactly the opposite! I kept checking ahead to rush to the next italized chapter!

message 2937: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished the last few pages of The Sky is Everywhere last night. It was so good. Loved the characters.

Now I'm starting Glimpse (Zellie Wells, #1) by Stacey Wallace Benefiel thanks to Kourtni!

Don't worry about recommending books to me. We are definitely book twins. I was really nervous recommending the Fever books to everyone so I totally understand.

message 2943: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I've barely had time to get more than 40-odd pages into The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins , but can tell I'm going to really like it. Good stuff so far - I can only imagine what's going to come! Just that first chapter alone - when Prim's name is called...I was all "Oh no!!!" (well, not out loud - people on the bus would think I was strange) Very engaging book. I can see why my wife has been so anxious for me to read it!

Did I mention I'm reading my first ebook? I don't have a Kindle, but I do have an iPod Touch and sometimes need something to do while getting my son to sleep (well, making sure he's fully asleep). So I tried out a sample and then got sucked in and had to buy the full version of The Passage by Justin Cronin . Another recommendation from my wife. Also very good. (Though I'm barely into the meat of the story yet)

Fine. I'll quit blabbing and get back to my spreadsheets. (Darn work!)

message 2944: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Shannen- And look how much everybody loved Fever here!

Lloyd- I recently started reading books on my iPod Touch as well! Only I'm doing it to be sneaky so I can read a little bit at work. Glad you're getting into HG so soon! It'll keep you on the edge of your seat pretty much the whole time. Enjoy!

Kourtni - me too! I always am listening to music while working (I'm in accounting so...boooooring!) and have my iPod up next to my keyboard...where I sneak in some reading now and then. (That's how I got caught up in The Passage) lol

message 2946: by [deleted user] (new)

Boy, we're a sneaky bunch, aren't we? I do the same thing with my phone.

Lloyd - My hubby just finished HG and CF and loved them both. There is going to be a fight come August 24th when Mockingjay comes out. ;)

Grace (graycie) | 6 comments well, I didn't really read it but I just listened to the first chapter of mockingjay. Audible.com accidentally posted it early on their FB page. They have since taken it down. I wish I didn't listen because now I'm more anxious to get the book.

Say WHAT??? It was up & I didn't get to hear it(of course I'm not an Audible member). JEALOUS!! (Its the first chapter so it's not a spoiler in the traditional sense. I do hate spoilers...)

message 2950: by Grace (new)

Grace (graycie) | 6 comments Cassi,
It wasn't a spoiler at all. It was mostly just a recap. I'm not an Audible member either. They had a link on their FB page and anyone with a FB account could access it.
