Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Yay Shannen! You liked it! I was very distraught after book one because of that turn, and I, like you, held out for the possibility that it might not be true.

And I can't believe you didn't just gobble up Dark Lover! I totally thought you would like it!

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen I'm mad because I kind of got the book through a trade and it's so ridiculous!

ETA: Don't bother logging back in if you like CoB and not DL. I say that with love.

LOL! Well, I pretty much hated White Oleander and I finished it so I'll probably finish just about any book.

OK, OK, about BDB already! I think I have just been on a real YA kick lately so that's why it is hard to get into it. I even thought about starting another book but I'm pretty sure you would have hunted me down if I didn't finish DL. Don't we say all things with love on here???? ;)

message 2354: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I finished Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins and really enjoyed it but went into reading it with no expectations as it got a lot of mixed reviews so maybe that helped. It was cute and entertaining. I also read Storm Born def not YA but I was suprised that I liked it as well considering I had been avoiding reading any of her adult book series. I think I will start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on audiobook today or tomorrow.

message 2355: by Christie (new)

Christie | 3 comments I am just starting heist society....I like Carter's spy series but I am on the wait list at the library for the next one and I wanted to see how she does with this other book.

message 2356: by Traci (new)

Traci I almost bought Heist Society the other day but then put it back.. I'm interested to see what you think!

message 2357: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I tried to read FALLEN and I couldn't get into it. Alos, the Everest series was pretty horrible, I did get through 3/4 of the first book, then returned all 3 to the library. Ugh.
If you like paranormal/fantasy series, try The Mortal Insturments Series, City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass.
The House of Night seriesMarked, it is pretty decent.
I recently fell in love with The Summoning, it is a really good series.
The Immortals Series by Alyson Noel is decent.

message 2358: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Oh, right now I am reading a creepily spectacular book called Unwind. it is listed I think as sci-fi, but it' more fantasy/creepy. In this world, kids age 13-17 are in constant fear their parents are going to Unwind them, meaning sell them to the government for their body parts to use as medical remidies. The story is about 3 kids who's parents signed them up to get 'unwound' and they ran from the government. I am almost finished and it's a gret book. Not spooky creepy, it just gets under your skin and makes you think, what if.......

message 2359: by [deleted user] (new)

Unwind is a great book, Amanda! I also loved the Darkest Powers trilogy. I just finished City of Bones and can't wait to read the rest of the books in that series. :)

message 2360: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Feeling left out cause I have not time to read. I am still reading The Red Pyramid. It is good and I like it but I can't seem to find time to read.

message 2361: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Jaimie-Let me know what you think of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on audiobook. I've been wanting to ready it, but haven't had time so I've been thinking about getting the audiobook.

message 2362: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Lani you should get the audiobook. It's a really long book and a lot of the details could have been left out, but it's still a good story. I liked it because I didn't have to try to figure out how to pronounce everything.

message 2363: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) I have herd so many good things about the audio book here that I am going to see if I can get it from the library, even though I already bought the first two books in the series The size of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo keeps me moving it to the bottom of the pile.

message 2364: by Crissy (new)

Crissy | 8 comments Right now I am reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I think my next book will be Charlie St.Cloud-it seems like it is going to be really good. But I am really interested in reading Coraline...and thoughts?

message 2365: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments weird movie. I imagine the book would be just as creepy, but I haven't read it.

message 2366: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Murphy | 96 comments I just finished Wicked Lovely Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr . Even though all the right people ended up together I'm really not sure how I feel about it. Uneasy, I think. I'm wondering if it's worth reading the next two books in the series. Any thoughts?

message 2367: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Mandi, I read the others and they are okay. Not my fav but I did read all three.

message 2368: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Murphy | 96 comments Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking.

message 2369: by [deleted user] (new)

Mandi - I read the first one and didn't feel the need to read the rest.

message 2370: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Murphy | 96 comments Again, exactly what I thought. For some sick reason I feel guilty about that, though.

message 2371: by [deleted user] (new)

I felt like you did. Like the book was good but I wasn't sure about reading the rest of the series. After I moved onto another book, I lost interest.

message 2372: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Becca wrote: "weird movie. I imagine the book would be just as creepy, but I haven't read it."

Coraline the book was just as creepy as the movie. I read it much before seeing the movie, and enjoyed the adaptation just as I loved the book.

message 2373: by Crissy (new)

Crissy | 8 comments I am so happy! I just ordered it today! I LOVED the movie and I cannot wait to read it!

I really liked Wicked Lovely and felt the series has gone downhill since. I've gotten through the rest of the series alright, but if you didn't really like Wicked Lovely I wouldn't bother with the rest of the series.

I'm jealous! I pre-ordered [book:Linger|6654313] on Amazon and it still says the release date is the 20th!! >:( grrr

message 2376: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I just saw Linger on the bookshelves at my local store last week! I should've picked it up!

Me too! Double grrr!

message 2378: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments It ALMOST makes me want to cancel the pre-order and just go buy it. LoL. But I have to remind myself its a great price, and I need to learn patience anyways.

message 2379: by [deleted user] (new)

I bought it for my Kindle so I just have to wait. :(

message 2380: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Ooooo suck! Well I'm right here with ya.

message 2381: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I kept seeing this book popping up and noticed a LOT of glowing reviews on Amazon - so, I'm finally going to give it a go. The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #1) by Jonathan Stroud

message 2382: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Good book Lloyd! I loved that series. It was excellent. I listened to it on audio and the narrator was incredible.

message 2383: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments It sounds good! I will add it to my never ending TBR pile.

message 2384: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Will someone please tell me Beautiful Creatures gets better after page 100? I can't get into it and I'm super frustrated. I don't feel the characters connection and it has just been a little dull for me. Seeing as I own it I will absolutely hate myself if I can't finish it. :( A little inspiration would be nice.

message 2385: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I just finished Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1) by Eoin Colfer last night. It was a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll continue with the series after I get through the huge stack of books I have piled up. I'm even getting more ideas from reading this thread. Thanks everyone!

message 2386: by Lee Ann (new)

Lee Ann (shopdollee) | 1 comments I just finished "Ballad" by Maggie Stiefvater, and am now reading "The Blue Sword" by Robin McKinley.

It's been a while since I read it but I liked it. Sorry you're not into it. :(

message 2388: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Yeah, I'm Bummed. I've decided to finish it no matter what though. Maybe I will end up liking it after I'm done.

message 2389: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Sorry Kourtni I wasn't a fan but I did finish it.

message 2390: by [deleted user] (new)

I think it is a very young YA book, Kourtni. Definitely harder to be enthralled with it after the likes of BDB! ;)

message 2391: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Tehehe. Speaking of BDB, I'm LOVING Lover Revealed. :) But yes, I can see that it is on the younger side of YA. I still want to like it! I have yet to rate a book under 3 stars.

message 2392: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished Dark Lover and ended up really liking it. Now I have some decisions on what to read next: The Synthesis, City of Ashes or Lover Eternal. Decisions, decisions!

message 2393: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments City of Ashes! While I loved Rhage, Lover Eternal has been my least favorite BDB book thus far. But you need to get through it so you can read Lover Awakened! Z is my favorite! I haven't finished The Synthesis yet so I have no good advice on that one other than it's pretty good so far.

message 2394: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL! How did I know you were going to suggest that one???

message 2395: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Bahaha! No idea! But you must read it!

message 2396: by Traci (new)

Traci I recommend City of Ashes as well! Then you can get to City of Glass which was my favorite ;)

I finished Pride and Prejudice and let's just say it was pretty slow going for that one. It wasn't bad.. I just felt like there was a lot of unnecessary padding that could've been cut out. Sorry Austen enthusiasts!

Anyway. Starting Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging Confessions of Georgia Nicolson (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, #1) by Louise Rennison and I'm loving it so far :D It's a fun, easy change from P&P.

message 2397: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok, City of Ashes is next!

I want to read Angus too, Traci. Not so much on the Pride and Prejudice. ;)

message 2398: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments PS: I'm actually taking the time to translate the secret message all through Artemis Fowl too (even though I'm sure I could cheat and get it off the net)!

message 2399: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I did Lloyd :P

message 2400: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm reading Faery Rebels by R. Anderson and next it's Birthmarked by Caragh M. O'Brien
