Darkfever isn't for the ultra-modest but it is such a great series. I can't say enough good things about it. :)

I love YA, but every now and then I need a little adult in my reading if you know what I mean. LoL. I laughed at myself for blushing. I was just not ready for the racy parts I guess. Haha.
Elaine - I think I have heard that they are VERY loosely related. I read the first Highlander book and it was just OK compared to the Fever series, IMHO.
Kourtni - Me too. But I love the racy parts. They get more racy so brace yourself! LOL!

Now. ;)
Now. ;)
Kourtni, I felt the same way about Darkfever. I'm reading Faefever (the third book) right now and I'm liking the series more and more as I go. Plus, now I'm getting completely used to the racy bits, lol. When I got Darkfever from the library I got about five other books with it, but those are all being mostly ignored now as I go back to get more Fever books.
Btw, Shannen, thanks for recommending such a great series!
Darkfever is on my short list of immediate TBR's. I bought it so unfortunately it's been sitting on the shelf for a couple weeks (set aside because of all the library books I have to read). But I also look forward to some racy adult material every now and then. :)

I will just have to branch out more. :)
Amazon is going to break me and my husband is going to kill me. I just ordered the rest of the books. :)
Jenna wrote: "I started reading Tender Morsels, a retelling of "Snow White & Rose Red", a few weeks ago. While I'm loving it I can only handle it in short doses because it is on the graphic/distur..."I listened to Shiver on audio too and agree about the Sam voice, but I love Jenna, the actress that read Grace. She is listed as one of my favorite authors on here because I have loved every audiobook she ever read. p.s. I agree with you about Shiver, it drags in the middle, but it does get better at the end.
Ha! I read the first 3 Fever series and I though they were racy, but then I read the first BDB book and the Fever series has nothing on that series. I agree with Laura that the Fever series only gets better. I have book 4 at home to read soon.Warning, you all are going to be ticked off like I was after Faefever as there is quite a cliff hanger!
Good thing I started the Fever series before BDB then, huh? Little did I know I was preparing myself for extreme raciness!
Ha! If you are a prude like me it is! I think the Fever series is a good opener to that "sort of stuff", so I was more prepared for BDB, but really NOTHING prepares you for BDB! p.s. I listened to both on audio, and have said before that I kept flashing guilty looks to the other drivers around me while I listened.
I definately will. I'm sure you'll be hearing about how embarrassed I get. LoL, I guess you could say I'm a little prude sometimes.
Join the prude club :) I am open minded about almost everything, but deep down I am old fuddy duddy.
Lani - BDB=Black Dagger BrotherhoodFever books were the first racy ones I've tried. But I've actually heard a lot of good things about BDB, so maybe I'll try them next. I don't know, it sounds like they might be pushing it for me. (Guess I'm a bit of a prude, too, lol!)

"I listened to The Adoration of Jenna Fox and recognized Jenna Lamia's voice from that (so many Jennas!) She is really making listening to Shiver worth it. I kind of dread Sam's parts now. Good to know that it gets better!
The guy that read Sam also narrated Water for Elephants, which I listened to, so I was used to his voice, but he was too old for Sam. I have not listened to that audiobook you mentioned, was it good? I have listened to Saving CeeCee Honeycutt and The Help, both of which Jenna Lamia narrated, and I loved her voice on both. Next I plan to listen to Secret Life of Bees because she narrated it.
Hi I'm Becca and I'm a prude :)Really, the Outlander series made me blush many many times even though I loved the story. It also had a couple cringe worthy parts. Thank you I'm a prude too.
I like it, but know WAY too much about the criminal justice world to know that the author is just wrong about some things, but I understand most people do not know these things, so I am trying hard to just go with it, and so I am liking it. Is that a long enough answer?
Heidi wrote: "The guy that read Sam also narrated Water for Elephants, which I listened to, so I was used to his voice, but he was too old for Sam. It's a little creepy to hear his voice in contrast to hers and to think of them as a couple.
I loved The Adoration of Jenna Fox - you should definitely check it out.
haha.. I have both Darkfever and the first BDB book on my bookshelf right now. I keep wanting to read them but then I know I'll have to get the rest of the series and I have a lot of other single books to read first. I am looking forward to them, though!
Jaimie wrote: "Sure but now I am curious, what kind of things are off?"Things like judges can't give juveniles 3 months extra as a sentence. Once you are sentenced to juvenile prison you remain there until they think you are ready for parole (sometimes it can be as short as a few months). Also, he would not be released with community service hours and would be on parole not have have some community officer. I could go on and on to be honest, but I will stop!
bahahaha the prude group. I've been trying to read a single book in between my series books. It works for me...sometimes. :)
There's nothing wrong with being a prude. Just means your modest and in today's world it's becoming rare. I love a good love story and both Darkfever and the first in the BDB are on my tbr, so I'm looking forward to being totally embarrassed.
Once you start reading the racy books, you'll want to read more. Not all the time but I like to throw one in every now and then.
And the Fever series has nothing on the Midnight Breed series which I think is a lot like BDB.

I am so bored with Shiver and I have to finish it for school next year. I think I'm just not in the mood for it.It's hard to go from Anita Blake to teen angst. Of course, that kind of describes Asher or Richard if you are familiar with the series. LOL
Elaine Shiver drags in the middle, but it gets better. It really has no action though, so I could see why you are bored.
You guys just let me know when the prude meeting is over so that we can get to the good stuff! But yeah, after the Fever Series and then BDB, I didn't feel so much like a prude anymore.
A few months back, I inadvertently clicked on a beefcake farm link. WARNING! It has nothing to do with cakes made out of beef! I told my husband and he laughed at me!! Then a few days ago I figured it out and remembered what a beefcake was. Awkward!
Haha! I'm with you, Peep...no longer a prude after some of the books I've read. Hot stuff!
Heidi wrote: "Finished Finding Paradise starting

For YA's, I'm reading The Adoration of Jenna Fox. I've heard some really good things about it & the futuristic aspect reminds me of Robin Wasserman's Skinned series, which so far I love.
I just finished Graceling... two different people who saw I liked Poison Study recomended it.I did love the story but I didn't like the ending. It felt really unresolved to me like it just stopped - and as far as I know it isn't a series.

Actually, Kristin Cashore has already published the prequel Fire and the sequel Bitterblue is due out April 2011.
