Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Lani, I read Radiant Shadows, I wasn't too crazy about the book either.I liked it but not sure if it is one I would recommend. I understand what you mean about the last chapter.

message 1502: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Thanks Mindy. It's a unique series with all the companion novels. I thought it started strong with Wicked Lovely and has somewhat gone downhill from there.

message 1503: by Becca (last edited May 19, 2010 10:23AM) (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I think I might have to do eny meny miny mo on this, cause they're all books I've been waiting for.

On a very cool note: I've officially read 50 books so far this year.

message 1504: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Congrats Becca! I should add mine up...

message 1505: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Angel Star by Jennifer Murgia which was OK.

Getting ready to start Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry Trilogy, #1) by Simone Elkeles and hoping it is much better than Angel Star.

message 1506: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Shannen-I haven't read Angel Star but I didn't think that highly of Perfect Chemistry. I do like Simone Elkeles' other books, I just thought the characters in PC were a bit cliche.

message 1507: by [deleted user] (new)

Lani - Angel Star has received very good reviews but it just came out and doesn't have a lot of reviews. I really wanted to love it but it was just OK for me. I haven't read any of Simone Elkeles's books yet. Cliche is OK with me as long as the story is good so we'll see.

Heidi Lani wrote: "Congrats Becca! I should add mine up..."

I keep mine in a folder on here titled read in 2010 -- that way GR automatically adds them up for me! I think I am around 65 books for this year.

message 1509: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Thanks for the update on Angel Star Shannen. I think I will skip it.

message 1510: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Beaumont (sheilabeaumont) | 18 comments I enjoyed Meg Cabot's AIRHEAD last week, and now I'm reading the first sequel, BEING NIKKI.

message 1511: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (last edited May 19, 2010 05:05PM) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm reading Never After Never After by Dan Elconin , and it BETTER be good because I bought it for my beloved Kindle: Or, that which has made me question my love for paper books.

I don't usually buy books, but this one was on my tbr pile for a while and I need to catch up on my reading. And I am way, way behind right now.

message 1512: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Keep me updated Peep - it looks good. Sheila I like Meg Cabot. I may try that series.

message 1513: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I haven't tried any Meg Cabot but I think I'll try one, any recommendations on where to start?

As for Never After, it's pretty good so far; wasn't expecting some of the language though.

message 1514: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I listened to all the Princess Diaries books (10) on audiobook and liked them. I also liked the first book in the mediator series, Shadowland, which I also listened to on audio. Anne Hathaway reads the first few Princess Diaries audiobooks.

message 1515: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Oh Peep I LOVE that book! It's hilarious as long as you appreciate some immature humor :).

I just finished reading A Season of Eden which was great! Now I'm into No and Me, as well as Beautiful Creatures.

message 1516: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I'm currently reading The Secret Life of Prince Charming by Deb Caletti. It's just ok so far, I'm hoping it picks up a bit-I'm less than halfway through.

message 1517: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle (itsmechelly) | 45 comments Finished Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1) by Susan Beth Pfeffer last night.

Starting The Dead and the Gone (Last Survivors, #2) by Susan Beth Pfeffer today

message 1518: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Chelly you are more brave than me. I can only read one depressing book and then have to move on for awhile!

Rochelle (itsmechelly) | 45 comments Heidi wrote: "Chelly you are more brave than me. I can only read one depressing book and then have to move on for awhile!"

heidi, I know what you mean. the first one was really depressing, especially toward the end. I don't know if it was the book or PMS but I just had to cry. I borrowed the whole trilogy from the library so I'm kinda forced to finish them back to back.

I loved the first book, and it definitely is a very sad ..."

I read the synopsis of the second book and I know the main character is very, very religious, so I might not like it as much as the first one because of that. But we'll see what happens.

message 1521: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I think a lot of people felt that way about book 2 Ryan.

message 1522: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) @Ryan - I had to make sure that wasn't me who wrote that. I loved the first one. I got really emotional and I think it was because I had two little ones and was constantly worrying about how we'd survive.

I HATED the second and third books though.

@Chelly - Trust me, religion won't play a part in why you won't like the second one. It's 100% Alex himself - I hated him. Why in the world would she write a character like that??

The third one was just fluff. Annoying fluff - ans I hated that one too. Not really any action at all in it. All I can say is don't read the synopsis of that one if you do decide to read it.

Let me stop before I start telling you how I really felt.

But you guys should still read it so that we can talk about it!

message 1523: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am not reading books 2 or 3. Too many other books to read out there.

message 1524: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments ditto Heidi. The 1st one was okay, but not good enough for me to want to read the others...

message 1525: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle (itsmechelly) | 45 comments @peep - lol, sorry I already read the book flap of the third book. Couldn't help it.

wow, alot of you guys didn't like books 2 & 3. I'd better read them fast and get them over with.

message 1526: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Sorry Chelly.

message 1527: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Peep wrote: "I haven't tried any Meg Cabot but I think I'll try one, any recommendations on where to start?

I haven't read her YA really but I liked her Queen of Babble (Queen of Babble, #1) by Meg Cabot books - even if the verbal diarrea that comes out of Lizzie's mouth is often times cringe worthy. I did read her Ransom My Heart by Meg Cabot that was "written" by the Princess Diaries character and I was pleasently suprised

message 1528: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Trust me, you ladies aren't missing anything by skipping them.

I really wanted to like them, too. I just couldn't make myself do it. The last book was just sooo contrived... Ugh. Must. Stop. Book. Bashing.

message 1529: by Carmen (new)

Carmen (carmentheblue) | 10 comments I just finished Catching Fire, which i loved. The only problem i have with the book is Katniss. Her character irritates me. Has anyone else felt the same way?

message 1530: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments sorry but Katniss is my girl - LOVE her!

message 1531: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments I am starting the 4th Rangers Apprentice today. Just finished Jane Eyre.

message 1532: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I love Katniss!

message 1533: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Just finished Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) and The Fellowship of the Ring today.

The Fellowship was awesome! But it was very very time consuming. And the Vampire Academy books thus far are pretty entertaining and extremely quick reads. I loved both!

Next up would be The Two Towers and Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3), of course, then Fire.

message 1534: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wow Kourtni - those are two totally different books!

message 1535: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Must. Stop. Adding. Books.

message 1536: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Heidi - Oh, they are completely different! I needed something quick and light after The Fellowship took me a couple weeks to tackle and VA was perfect. Never again will I pick up a LOTR book during finals week!

message 1537: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments Finished 'Jane Eyre' yesterday; am picking up If Only They Could Talk and Sabriel from the library today; and am reading 'Pride and Prejudice' online.

message 1538: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Laura - I want to read Sabriel, so let me know what you think.

message 1539: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Love Pride and Prejudice!

message 1540: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 14 comments Just started Coraline, easy read...already about half way through. I like so far.

message 1541: by Heather (new)

Heather | 166 comments Hi, Heather here and my friend recommended Life As We Knew It about a month ago, and I liked it. She told me there were 2 more in the series and that the 3rd one ties the other two together. Question for you Peep, why did you not like the rest of the series?

message 1542: by Traci (new)

Traci geez, I feel so behind. I am finally done with school, and finally done with Lies! It was okay. Not as much action as the first two, so I found it a bit boring. I hear there's going to be 3 more books in the series and I'm wondering how Grant is going to stretch it out for that long. How much longer can these kids really survive? Oh well.

Started The Forest of Hands and Teeth and I'm about 80 pages in. It's just okay. I'm not really connecting with the characters yet, so hopefully it gets better...

message 1543: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 14 comments Just finished Coraline and enjoyed it. Different from the move, but similar enough that you could tell it was indeed the same story. A nice easy read for anyone looking for a quick one.

message 1544: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Coraline the movie was weird. I've never been a big Burton fan though, so that could have been part of it. I'll have to check it out.

message 1545: by Heather (new)

Heather | 166 comments Saw Coraline and it was pretty good. Didn't think I would like it. Checked with the library and they have it which I requested.

message 1546: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) I thought it was weird that they added a character in the movie that wasn't in the book.

message 1547: by Traci (new)

Traci Coraline wasn't directed by Burton. It's very Burton-esque.. but it was directed by Henry Selick. I agree though, It was very weird, and pretty creepy. I didn't really think it was much of a children's movie :x

message 1548: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Coraline was creepy!

message 1549: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Traci- I have been thinking the same think about the Gone series. I think he should have just made it a trilogy.

message 1550: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Totally not a kid's movie imo either Traci. Very creepy when seen from a kid's perspective.
