Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) I've started Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire and I really really like it so far. The characters are great and strong and I can't stop to read :)

Oooh, what did you think? In the first book I really enjoyed their day-to-day, real-world interactions, like at school or at Varen's work, and how the fantasy elements were woven into the more realistic setting. So I was a bit worried when it sounded like Book 2 would be mostly set in a dream/fantasy world. I'm just not sure it will have the same pull for me.

It wasn't mostly in the dream world. Sigh. I wanted some dream world so we could see something from Varen's POV. That would have been so nice. We got nada from Varen. I think he made the first book, well, they did. Isobel without him is kind of boring. The writing was fantastic though!

Victoria (closer2coma86) | 83 comments Finished Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3) by Rachel Hawkins , Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry , and Crave (The Clann, #1) by Melissa Darnell . Not gonna lie, I was disappointed with all 3.

Spell Bound was kind of boring. I thought Pushing the Limits would captivate me the way Perfect Chemistry did, but it fell short. Crave was just another generic PNR.

Currently reading A Season of Eden by J.M. Warwick .

Um it is when you can't keep your eyes away from something terrible. Travis is an abusive IMO.

Bethany | 578 comments The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness

I FINISHED!!! And I loved it! It was confusing at first, but most of what was bothering me got cleared up by the end. And what an awful ending...I mean, come on! Ugh, I'm so stressed out. I already started The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness and it's not looking good for my boy Todd. Bu I have to say, since it's debated a lot, that I love Todd. I think he's a great and interesting character. The writing style doesn't bother me either. It makes sense, like Lloyd said, with Todd being a hick and all. And I have to say that it cracks me up when he says effing.

Enjoy!!!

message 13515: by Michele (new)

Michele | 22 comments I just now finished reading Legacy. In general, I liked it, although its old-fashioned style and sexist kingdom annoyed me.

I have also read Beautiful Disaster, and found it to be a fairly realistic portrayal of disturbing people. I thought that Abby was the main problem however. She was weak-willed regarding the men in her life, and contradictory to the point of stupidity.

message 13516: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished reading Pushing the Limits. Really good read by the way, I really liked it.

Now I'm reading Tiger's Curse which I'm already halfway through. Its not bad, I'm probably gonna pick up the second book when I can once I'm done.

My problem with Beautiful Disaster is that people think it is an actual love story and idealize Travis like he is some God. I am glad to see you speak about it differently!

oh, now I get it - thanks for the explenation :)
And yeah, you're right. But they also too cute when they are happy together... though most of the book they are fighting or making it hard for each-other. I don't know - I can't always say that they act realistic, but I like it how the author write about the feelings... though they are sometimes a little stupid.
I don't know why I like it so much and Travis really needs some training to handle his impulsive aggression, but I'm totally hooked and can't wait to read on.

It wasn't my favorite, I'm afraid. Especially considering it was the final book...if you have read the series, then you should at least try it. But it was disappointing.

:( Yeah, it seems that that series is kinda hit or miss with each book. Some of them I have loved so much and others were just super weird and boring. I think 'Saving The World and Other Extreme Sports' remains my favorite.

shanghao (sanshow) Yay for Angelfall! Am reading Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) by Jay Kristoff now...the author's disrespect for many things really makes me grrr, even though I like the premise (plot is too slow and heavy with infodump). Still, am going to try to finish it.
