I really wanted to like it, but the story was kind of ridiculous at some points (I mean, the first one involved a "love triangle" between (view spoiler).

I'm having mixed feelings about it. So far it is really slow. I'm hoping that it will pick up soon, as it is a great concept for a story.

I love the Mortal Instruments series and the first and the third are the best in my opinion. But now the fifth isn't as bad as the fourth one.

message 13173: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 99 comments Ooh can't wait for the third then, will start it tonight!!

message 13174: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) Oh, I envy you for the experience of reading the books for the first time. I've read them (book 1-3) already 2-3 times and it was always great.
I love Magnus and he's a great humor. Guess he's my fav. character besides Jace :)

but to be honest I don't like Tessa anymore. In the first book she was great and better than Clary (from MI) but now in the second she is not cruel with Jem and Will, don't you think?

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) Burning Emerald (The Cambion Chronicles, #2) by Jaime Reed

Such an awesome book with the kind of heroine that is sadly lacking in a lot of YA these days. Sam is tough, funny and real. Not to mention a diverse cast of characters (another thing lacking in YA) and a great paranormal storyline that isn't trite. Read this series and fall in love with Sam and Caleb and Mia and Dougie.

message 13184: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga Interesting to get these kind of insights from a YA perspective but in terms of the story itself, don't feel compelled to return to this world.
