LOL! They actually have it at your library? I just checked and all 240 copies are checked out of our library, with a waiting list of 1078. Nothing like a movie to get people reading!

Wow, that's quite a waiting list! My local library is quite small, but it's very good about carrying most of the latest books, even if it's only one copy.

I've been thinking about reading this one for quite a while, but have bought so many other books, I wanted to read them first. But, now that it's available from the library, I thought, what the heck? Go for it. :)

Wow! That must be a huge library! I work at a fairly large one and we only have 12 copies. I've started telling people that ask about it to go buy it at Walmart.

I would've bought them all too if I didn't already have Ashes, Ashes and The Eleventh Plague and I read Empty awhile back. You definitely saved your husband a bunch of money, he should be very excited about your thriftiness :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Started The Académie by Susanne Dunlap last night. So far am intrigued. I like alternative histories SO it's got that going for it.

Still listening to Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen and am baffled that the secondary characters (like Maggie. Love her!) can be likable while Auden I just cannot stand. There is a lot of me yelling at this book as I drive.

message 12770: by A.O. (new)

A.O. Peart (aopeart) I usually read two or three books at any given time. Right now I'm reading Dead Witch Walking and Two For the Dough. I know these are not YA, but I read both - adults and YA books.

When I'm finished with my current titles, I will read either Starcrossed, Prophecy of The Sisters, Angelfire or The Smoke Thief. Anyone has read these titles? If so, what do you think?

I just finished The House of The Scorpion by Nancy Farmer and I quite enjoyed it.

message 12771: by Lasse (new)

Lasse | 66 comments I thought Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1) by Josephine Angelini was a very good and easy read book, greek mythology meets modern world with a fair bit of romance, I could find similarities to City of Bones (Mortal Instruments) and Twilight (The Twilight Saga) so if you liked those two books, you will probably also like this one.

I know you didn't like the Twilight books, Heidi, and I did. But I barely made it through the first Mortal Instruments book (REALLY didn't like it), and I liked STARCROSSED quite a bit. I didn't think it was like either of the other stories myself.

message 12779: by Bethany (new)

Bethany | 578 comments I started The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness :) not too far in yet, but still farther than I've ever gotten before. And I'm actually not hating it. I'm not sucked in yet, but I'm definitely not dying to put it down.

Also reading Hippocampus (The Atlantis Revolution #1) by Tom Tancin , which is really fun. It feels like Percy Jackson a little. Only it's not as funny as that series and it's about Atlantis rather than Greek-myth. Good book for younger teens and stars a male MC!

Heidi Wendy F wrote: "Yeah, I think I was only lukewarm with the first book until closer to the end. But two and three were amazing!"

I actually originally gave book one (Knife) 3 stars! I changed my mind later when I read books 2 and 3. p.s. all the Kindle editions in the series are 99 cents today.

message 12800: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL, I did the same. I think I gave Knife 4 stars, just because I thought the end was good. Then, when I finished the whole trilogy, I went back and gave all of them 5 stars.
