I won a book in the first giveaway I entered, so I didn't think it was that hard to win..Guess I was wrong, since I haven't won anything since...I know how you feel! haha

Yup! Same thing happened to me Caryn. I won two right away and then nothing. I noticed people who are new to GR win right away. Doesn't seem very random to me.

message 12559: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) If you read the blurb for them, they're not random at all. People are selected randomly but then they look at stuff and decide if you fit the book. So if I request a book but I don't have any of that genre, or I don't have it selected 'to read', they could redraw.

message 12560: by Heidi (last edited Mar 03, 2012 05:59PM) (new)

Heidi Wendy I generally only pick YA books or cozy mysteries from the Giveaways and if you look at my read books that is nearly all of them! I just don't get it.

message 12561: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yeah, I've only ever won once.

Agreed, Bethany! I thought MATCHED was one of the weakest YA dystopians I've read...and last year I read a bunch of them!

message 12564: by Jim (new)

Jim Franz | 36 comments Would you hate me if I admit I've been cheating? I finally got around to reading a fantasy series that people have been recommending to me for years. The first (or fourth, depending on how you look at it) book is Homeland by R.A. Salvatore , and it's the series about the drow Drizzt. I'm enjoying it so far, partially because it's so different from what I've been reading for so long.

Did you get an ARC? I checked out the page and the expected publication is July 10th, 2012. It looks right up my alley though so I'm glad to hear the good review. I'll have to check it out once it actually comes out. Yet one more book on my giant to-read list!

I wasn't thrilled with FEVER either. It was mostly just weird.

I hate when people overhype books but here it goes! Smoke and Bone changed my world! The writing is breathtaking, the story is unlike any I've read. Now, I do have my complaints about some story elements, but not enough to take away the 5 stars I gave this book!

message 12580: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) Yeah, I know that too. Mostly I'm just disappointed in books everybody loves, but with DoS&B I felt the same. I just in the middle of it but I already love it and don't want to go on or don't want to read it too fast, because I know it will be over soon and I don't want it to be over. I love the athmosphere, the characters and the plot - it's so great and original and totally fresh and just lovely! aaah :D

Guess there must be something wrong with me because I just didn't "get" DoSB. It made no sense to me at all and I gave it 1 star because I had to.

message 12582: by Heidi (last edited Mar 08, 2012 08:28AM) (new)

Heidi DOS&B is one of those books where I feel like an odd person out. I didn't love it nor hate it but it seems like most loved loved loved it (except Melodie :)

I will add that I liked it A LOT more in the first half than in the second half when it got overly descriptive and all world buildy.

message 12583: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Reeves (barefootdokusha) I was almost done with Starters by Lissa Price. Tried to wake my Kindle up this morning to finish it while at work (I use to text to voice) and it's froze! So Amazon said to charge for another hour and they will call me back. I want to read!
