message 12406: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 148 comments I'm currently reading a young adult novel called "My Name is Louis" from author Janet Craig James. It was published back in 1988, and the big draw for me is that the author used to live in Gros Cap in Northern Ontario, Canada, which is where I currently live. She donated a signed copy of the book to the township library here.

message 12407: by Brooke (new)

Brooke (thecovercontessa) Finished Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi and if you have not read it you MUST! Still reading Ultraviolet (Ultraviolet, #1) by R.J. Anderson and my parents bought me Article 5 (Article 5, #1) by Kristen Simmons today which I'm really excited about!

☼Bookish in Virginia☼ (ren_t) Regina, sorry to be so late getting back to you. One of THOSE weeks.

I thought The Way We Fall (Fallen World, #1) by Megan Crewe was an 'average' sort of read. I liked parts of it, but wasn't blown away. I may have to do some more thinking about that appraisal however, because in the last few weeks every time people cough and itch I find myself cringing and I think about the plague.

So perhaps the writing was stronger than I thought.

I was really underwhelmed with "The way we fall" as well. and was disappointed in the ending.

message 12410: by Brooke (last edited Feb 20, 2012 03:34PM) (new)

Brooke (thecovercontessa) Just finished Ultraviolet (Ultraviolet, #1) by R.J. Anderson today. It was ok, not the best book I have read. Pretty slow to start, picked up somewhat in the middle, but didn't really get going until the end. I am going to start One False Note (39 Clues, #2) by Gordon Korman and Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) by Jodi Meadows now.

message 12411: by Caryn (new)

Melodie (melodieco) I finished Fallen in Love (Fallen, #3.5) by Lauren Kate , not dystopian and it kinda sucked! Blood Red Road by Moira Young is a bit slow going so far.

Yay! I am obsessed with the cover as well. I love it.

Though City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare is not too shabby either. It's my 2nd fave out of all the Cassandra Clare book covers :)

I think because I had no real expectations for it, that I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed Shatter me- have you read that one? Or Article 5? I really liked that one too, but have read mixed reviews.

I liked SHATTER ME a lot, too. But thought ARTICLE 5 was a total bust. The "world" in that one was interesting, kind of like the Moral Majority on steroids, and I liked Chase. But the girl in the book was so whiny I can't even remember her name at the moment and I just finished the book over the weekend!

OMGosh, Shatter Me was INTENSE! I loved that book. I am sad to have to wait until 2013 for the next one. I could not put that down! I guess I had high expectations for Legend b/c of what I heard from everyone on here. I have Article 5, I didn't read it yet. I will go in with no high expectations, that way I won't be disappointed!

message 12441: by Bethany (new)

Bethany | 578 comments I loved Shatter Me! I don't really have any expectations when it comes to Legend or Article 5. They're both group reads for my other group and I've heard mixed reviews for both. So, we'll see, I'll let you guys know what I think ;)
