Haha, you can try to convince me to read it once I'm finished the 'Iron King' series. Ah, it's okay, I read it a long time ago, nearly a year now, so I want to remember it. Plus, this way I can review it. :)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) alright then, tell me when you've finished the third want - I'm curious how you'll like it. I'm going to start the fourht hopefully soon :D

Yep, I read it in July. It was my favorite one. It was up on Netgalley. It may still be there.

message 11106: by Anna (new)

Anna Woot! You'll have to tell me if it's good. Isn't it out in a month or something?

message 11107: by Anna (last edited Sep 28, 2011 07:55AM) (new)

Anna Wendy F: Was the author able to write in male perspective well? Rowling and Marchetta have done it perfectly, but not all can. I've read a few where it's very obvious it was written by a woman.

message 11108: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's obvious that it was written by a woman. She's absolutely not comparible to Marchetta or Rowling (IMO). For me, the only character that felt right was Puck, but that's probably opinion.

Still, I muuuuuch preferred Ash's voice to Meghans. You find out alot of what makes him tick, and you get a pretty good insight into his insecurities which was one of my problems with books 1 and 2. He just felt too perfect.

Plus, one of my favorite aspects was the relationship between Ash and Puck, and that is one of the forefront plotlines in the last book.

Did you guys hear that she's writing the story of Meghans little brother?

message 11109: by Anna (last edited Sep 28, 2011 08:23AM) (new)

Anna Ah, gotcha. Sigh. Have you read 'Finnikin'? I can't wait for 'Froi'. It's out soon. :D

I actually didn't like Puck in the first book. He was a bit too obnoxious for my taste. I usually like the funny guys, but he did nothing for me.

I think I'd prefer Ash's voice to Meghan's also. She's a tad irritating to me. That'd be cool, to get a better insight into him.

I do love a good bromance. :P

I did. =/ What do you think it'll be like?

He could be obnoxious, lmao. But it just made me like him more. For me at least, the best characters are the ones that have great and bad traits. He's not my favorite character, just the one I liked most in that series. (Him and Grimm, anyway)

When I finished Iron Knight I was pretty excited for it. Now that time has gone by, I still think it may be good because it's another male perspective. not all authors are great at doing girls, I tend to think that they are whiney and selfish, lmao. so I think in that sense, i'll like it more then Meghan's books.

I've been lucky enough to have read all of Marchetta's books! I loved Finnikin (I love all of them!). I can't wait for Froi. I already preordered it from fishpondworld.com!

I now reading Soul Thief: A Demon Trappers Novel and The Marked Son I have the The Night Circus waiting in line on my Cruz and I purchased Bleeding Hearts and Angel Fire from Amazon UK because I couldn't wait until spring of 2012 to read them!

message 11116: by Anna (last edited Sep 29, 2011 02:42AM) (new)

Anna Wendy F: Yesh, I agree, but I didn't feel as if the author meant to make him annoying. He was just comic relief, but very in-your-face funny. He wasn't too bad though. I've read much, much worse male characters. (view spoiler) Grimm was my favourite also, even though he was basically a watered down version of The Cheshire Cat.

Ha, I don't think they're all like that, but a majority of them are. It gets very jarring after a while.

Ah! I love Marchetta. I've read Francesca, Piper's Son, Finnikin and Alibrandi. Alibrandi was my least favourite, but it's not a bad book by any means.

I went to the bookstore today, and Froi was already sitting there on the shelves! :D I had a mini heart attack. Unfortunately I can't afford any new books at the moment. :( It's definitely going to be one of my first buys when I find another job. The cover is so beautiful! Also, it's quite thick, over 600 pages. I also saw Daughter of Smoke and Bone there and nearly cried because I couldn't get it. :P

I'm also really looking forward to reading Jellicoe, as I've heard so many good things about it. Which book of hers is your favourite?

message 11117: by Anna (new)

Anna Harshini wrote: "Done with Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins Lurved it :) GOnna start Grave Doubts (The Mediator, #5) by Meg Cabot"

Yay! Another person who loved Mockingjay. :D

message 11118: by Gwennie (last edited Sep 29, 2011 08:58AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Anna! I'm so jealous!! I wish I lived in Australia so I could get it right away. I have to wait weeks for fishpondworld to send it to me...

Jellicoe is absolutely my favorite Marchetta book. Followed VERY closely by The Piper's Son. Then it would be Francesca, Finnikin, and Alibrandi (in that order). I didn't give any of them lower then 4 stars though. You are going to love Jellicoe!

You are right, not all authors write bad chicks. I have some favorites, like Katniss... it's just, I think it's harder to write a strong female character that doesn't come across as selfish and whiney.

Grimm was completely a watered down version of the Chesire Cat. Actually there's alot of things in that series that I think were not so subtly pulled from other fantasy stories. There are alot of parallels to Neverending Story, too. Response to your spoiler, heehee:(view spoiler)

(footnote: Daughter of Smoke and Bone was so good!)

This is just the first version i'm sure! They will see how this does and by next year they will have an upgrade. I heard you can trade in your Kindle at best buy for credit towards a new one...hmmmm I want to find out more about that.

Honestly though, my Kindle is my best friend, I love him!! (yea it's a him)lol! and it would be hard for me to move on to another model, ya know?

So if you haven't read it yet or if you really loved it and want a set now is the time to get it. I'm not sure how long the sale will last (the regular price for the trilogy ebook is $53.97). Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I really like my Kindle with the keyboard. I didn't even really look at the articles with the new and shiny ones because I am so absolutely 100% satisfied with my current 3G model it just seemed unnecessary. I mean if this one starts having issues then maybe I'll start thinking about the new ones but right now I'm happy as can be with my current kindle.

(Really when people ask me about it I struggle not to gush)

Anna Wendy: We never get anything first here, so I always get excited when we do! When is it being published where you live?

Ah, now you've made me want to read it even more. At the moment, my order goes: Saving Francesca, The Piper's Son, Finnikin, then Alibrandi. The only problem I had with Piper's Son were the perspective changes. I wished it had just stuck with Thomas. I love that boy very much. I just wanted to hug him.

Katniss is definitely near the top of my favourite girl MC's. :)

Have you seen the movie 'Labrynth'? It's basically that in a book version. (view spoiler)

AH! I really, really want to read it. It sounds so amazing. Very excited!

True, true. :) I do prefer them in hard copy, though.

Admittedly, it does bother me a little when I see an interesting sounding book that's only available on kindle. Ah well. I just have to hope they come out in book form.
