harshini (watchmeread) Started reading The Lost Hero :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Started Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant at Catie's request. Enjoyed the first 3 chapters. Though the thought of all that bleach makes me cringe.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Catie wrote: "Oh good! Well, I hope that you like it. When do you leave for vacation?"

Tomorrow I'm driving up to visit a friend in Athens OH. I'll head over to WV Monday morning (At least that's my game plan).

Kinda strange to be going on vacation. I'm feeling guilty because my dog. I just left her for camp last week.

Arphaxad | 335 comments Just back from a few days in London; rather a lot of posts to catch up on! Should keep me occupied for a good while.. *makes cup of tea*

I've had a few not-so-great books in a row recently - Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan Forget You by Jennifer Echols (ugh) - so I'm looking forward to my next library trip ( Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson just came in and is waiting for me)!

In the (hopefully very short) meantime, I'm re-reading The Arctic Incident (Artemis Fowl, #2) by Eoin Colfer .

@Cassi - vacation sounds awesome! Have a great time :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Is it weird that I am most excited about buying some awesome postcards?

Seriously folks I have a postcard addiction.

Good to know it was not just me! I mean what was the point of it all? No one important leaned anything IMO! I also thought it dragged on at times and could have been edited down some. Picky picky. I know!

Jennifer (jenniem05) | 34 comments I am having alot of trouble trying to decide which book to read next!! Any suggestions?? I had a few in line.. but after reading reviews I was a little worried. Please give me a few recommendations. Thanks everyone!

Leah | 2 comments Started Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. Too dismal for me.What do you do on Goodreads with a book you decide not to finish? Mark as read?Post review that you couldn't finish it? Whats fair to the readers and authors?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments You can make a "Did not finish" shelf and post a review of why you didn't finish. That's what I would do.

I made a "couldn't finish" shelf and made it one of the exclusive shelves on my account.
I have read, to be read, currently reading, couldn't finish and reference books as exclusive shelves.

I'm thinking about making a "cookbook" shelf as well since I don't really consider that 'reading' a book.

Heidi Jennifer wrote: "I am having alot of trouble trying to decide which book to read next!! Any suggestions?? I had a few in line.. but after reading reviews I was a little worried. Please give me a few recommendations..."

If I did not finish it and hated it I will review it and normally give it one star, but generally I just make a comment in the book that it was just "not for me" and don't give it any star rating. I only have a few that I only gave one star that I DNF.

message 9962: by Tish (new)

Tish | 207 comments Hi, everybody! Been largely offline for a while--spent 3 weeks in Korea visiting the in-laws with a few days sightseeing in China--and rarely had internet access. The relatives don't speak English and I hardly speak any Korean (and my son even less than I do), so we LOVE LOVE LOVE my Kindle! While I was gone I read Elisha's Bones by Don Hoesel Blue by Lou Aronica The Swan House A Novel by Elizabeth Musser Mistborn The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Medical Error (Prescription for Trouble, #2) by Richard L. Mabry In the Belly of Jonah by Sandra Brannan The Strange Case of Finley Jayne (Steampunk Chronicles, #0.5) by Kady Cross Journey to the Well A Novel by Diana Wallis Taylor . I think those were all free (yay!), except for Mistborn, which I had started (library book) just before we left and couldn't bear to wait until we got back to finish and so was forced to buy it :) My son (11 years old) also read Mistborn and liked it even more than I did and is now reading the second one in the series (he has taken it to Boy Scout camp with him). He read an equal number of ebooks and let me tell you, it was not easy trying to pry MY Kindle out of his hands so I could have a turn! Now I'm reading Nick Of Time (Nick McIver, #1) by Ted Bell and on the waiting list at the library for Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth (#86 in line), A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin (#251), The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss (#48), and Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers (#13). Anyway, glad to be back, missed all the book talk, and sorry for the lengthy post!

message 9964: by Leah (new)

Leah | 2 comments Thanks Jennifer.Thats what I did. I didn't want to hurt the authors rating by giving 0 stars.Hopefully it won't affect anything. Lois Lowry is a great writer, just didn't click with me in Gathering Blue.

hey, for me the same. After reading some other reviews (where everyone loved the book) I was thinking I was totally alone with my opinion. And I also thought at the end - what was the purpose of it all, of the book - that in the end - no matter how hard you try to be a better person you still die? Yeah, great message for the teens! *pf* :/
And I really hoped there were a second book and in the beginning she will wake up from koma or something and she and Kent will be together. *so sad*

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) I just finished Blue Moon (The Immortals, #2) by Alyson Noel and it was nerve recking- but not in the good way, just in the annoying way. But I need to know how it will go on, so now I start with Shadowland (The Immortals, #3) by Alyson Noel and I hope it'll become better.

message 9980: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I'm once again restless in reading. Just reading bits and pieces of things here and there.

On better news, I sent out some resumes this past Wednesday and had a callback message waiting when I got home later. I researched the company a little (from caller id) to find they are located just blocks from where we are moving. So I called back Thursday, had an interview Friday morning and got a call again Friday afternoon to come back for an interview with the President of the company on Monday morning. I don't want to set myself up, but that sounds pretty promising to me. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Meanwhile...still can't get hooked on any reading lately. (Might be that pressure of unemployment and moving)

message 9981: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Sometimes we all just need a reading break. A few weeks regroup and stuff.

Lloyd | 415 comments Thank you ladies! I appreciate all the kind thoughts. If this works out - this will be the shortest period of unemployment ever! (Still need to work on self-employment of some sort. I'm really sick of making other people money. But I'd rather work on that part-time at night while having a source of income. Tired of stress.)

Still wish I could get hooked into some book. Maybe I should try something totally out of the norm for me.

That's the ONLY thing I miss about work or the bus ride to/from work. Reading time. My son demands most of my time and has been thrilled with my time off work lately. Which is great and I don't mind one bit. But by the time I get him to bed, I'M beat and go to bed myself. :P

I loved this series. The third book was my favorite. So. Good!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments So I am almost done with Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and have concluded this is not a good car-trip audiobook. Mainly because there's a car crash that occurs many times.

It was rainy when I was driving to Ohio. I got off I75 & went I64. Dad later texted me to tell me there were like 30 crashes on I75 due to rain. Somehow I got ahead or behind the storm and after a couple of stopping to wait out the downpour I drove majority of the way dry. Can those who have read this book see why this is not good for listening to it in my car?

Headed to WV from here tomorrow.
