Caitlin (catsbooksandcritters) | 27 comments I'm rereading The Vampire Lestat because I'm currently in the mood for vampires.

message 7304: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Scott (michellescottfiction) I love vampire novels, too! I'm reading Generation Loss by Elizabeth Hand It's a very gritty novel about the 80's punk scene, and I almost didn't read past the first thirty pages. But I'm so glad I did!

I seem to go through phases with my rereading (or just plan reading) I'm starting to be on the verge of getting bored with vampires, but I have some new books coming so I'll read those and then move on to some other topic.

Jody Kihara (jodykihara) | 169 comments I am re-reading Shabanu Daughter of the Wind by Suzanne Fisher Staples and I love it so much - the writing is so simple yet lyrical. I wish I could write like that!

I put it on the back burner. I just wasn't feeling it. I will get back to it eventually.

Right now I am reading:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling Shadow Souls (The Vampire Diaries The Return, #2) by L.J. Smith and Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke

Gini (camp80) | 88 comments Natframpton wrote: "i did read the first two a few years ago but i dont remember much about them"

Oh, you should reread! They are amazing. It's about a teenager named Candy who travels to another world filled with islands; where each island represents a different hour of the day. Filled with magic and mystery and they really awaken your inner child, highly recommend.

Awesome that you're reading it as well, I'm not all that far into it yet, but so far I like it.

I really enjoyed this book....but yes it really picked up towards the end...I am excited to read the next book in the series...hopefully it'll be faster paced!! I think you should definetly finish the book!!

message 7315: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Mayer (ashleymayer) | 125 comments Thanks for all the input on Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer , I think I will finish it.

How exciting to hear! I thought it was never going to be published. I remember finding the first novel when it came out and fell in LOVE!

message 7317: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Amy - I liked it but there were definitely some cheesy parts! I wasn't the biggest fan of the first Twilight because I don't think Catherine Hardwicke is a very good director, and it was some of the same in this but oh well! I have a huge girl crush on Amanda Seyfried so I would have liked it no matter what I'm sure! Max Irons isn't too bad to look at either :)

message 7318: by Zoltaire (new)

Zoltaire | 11 comments Well, I just finished The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. It's a short book but filled with insights. It took me only a day to read it curled up near a fire. The journey took me to Spain, Morocco, and the Middle East, for free. What more can I ask?

I reviewed it in my blog, but don't worry, it only gives the flavor of the narrative and not the plot.

message 7325: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 148 comments Just finished Red Riding Hood and was a little disappointed. Maybe I should have seen the movie first? Right now, I'm reading The Hollow by Jessica Verday.

message 7326: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) cheryl i'm about 1/2 way through Red Riding Hood and I'm glad that I saw the movie first! I feel like it would be a little bit slow and hard to imagine otherwise, if you haven't seen the movie I recommend it! Its a little cheesy at parts but still pretty good

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments So I think most people know that I didn't like Gone by Michael Grant.

Him and Kirkus reviews are apparently having a little bit of a showdown over Kirku's negative review of Gone. Both are behaving childish in my opinion. What bothers me is he assumes that Kirkus has a vendetta which in reality I pretty much agree with their review (don't tell him!). Just watch the video if you like book drama.

Scroll down and find "Michael Grant' on their page. It's a video.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments PS I'm such a gossip when it comes to books/authors.

message 7329: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I just finished Graceling (The Seven Kingdoms Trilogy, #1) by Kristin Cashore and I'm still laboring through Freedom by Jonathan Franzen which I'm not really getting into much. I am starting Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta next.

hy brandi,
I also read finnikin of the rock and I really liked the story. It was very epic, though at first I had a hard time to get into Melindas writing stile. But the book is great, you'll enjoy it! :)

message 7333: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) For me, at the moment I'm reading Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning after long denying it, cause I though its again a vampire story (I have enough of that at the moment *lol*). But it's definitly different than I've thought, in a reall good way! ;) At the moment I'm about at the middle of the book and like it so far.

And I also started The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer at the same time, but I'm not so far with that. I'm approximately almost at the first quarter and I still don't know what to think about it. I can't decide if I like it or not, it's kind of depressing and one part of me want to know what will happen with Melanie and the other don't want to know and just wants to jerk the book in the corner.... mh...

Beth (bethlynhuff2008) | 1 comments I just started reading Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer by John Grisham . We will see how it goes

Ashley Mayer (ashleymayer) | 125 comments I just finished Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale by Ramona Wray , which was great! Now I need to choose between Chime by Franny Billingsley , Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent or Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan !

message 7336: by Ashley (last edited Mar 24, 2011 06:12AM) (new)

Ashley Mayer (ashleymayer) | 125 comments By the way, if you liked Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins you should try Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale by Ramona Wray ! Hex is a cute, quick romance but with a paranormal twist! Plus, I was able to get it on my kindle for only $4.33!!!

message 7337: by Linda (new)

Linda (lindajoysingleton) | 41 comments I really enjoyed Northern Light. I got an audio of this book from the library and loved listening to it. I drive a lot and always have a book in my car.

message 7345: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I can't decide if I want to start Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2) by Charlaine Harris or Vixen (Flappers, #1) by Jillian Larkin . Opinions?

message 7346: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)
