Wow! Cool.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments So now I'm kinda at that awkward spot. I finished Hex Hall and Demonglass comes out on Tuesday. But I'm not technically reading something at the moment which is weird....

(Except You Grow Girl The Groundbreaking Guide to Gardening by Gayla Trail a gardening book and that doesn't actually count in my brain)

message 6704: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Impulse buy alert! Impluse buy alert! I have known all month that We Read 4 You was running a buy one audiobook, get 2 free sale until the end of Feb. I resisted the entire month, but with only 2 days left I cracked. How could I resist spending only $13.00 for 3 audiobooks? Obviously I could not. I already have 4 audiobooks from Overdrive on my phone waiting to be listened to - like I needed anymore!

Paula Williams (daystealer) | 43 comments So Maggie Stiefvater, author of the wolf-kissing books Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater and Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater and other paranormal stuff is holding this spring cleaning contest where she's passing on her books. But I beat her to it and cleaned my book closet out last month. Anyway, I have lots of room for more books, and if I win, I'll, of course, read my winnings then pass them on to teens who would appreciate the darlings, esp. those who need encouragement reading--and I know a lot of teens who need to read since I used to teach them. I'm glad Maggie knows how books are meant to travel instead of become couch potatoes on our shelves. Here's her blog if you want to enter.

Jess (jess_readsromance) Currently reading First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost SPAAAADE! :D its okay so far. Only a little into and not much has happened yet, but I'm enjoying it.

No, I have the book from the library. I don't think I've seen the audio. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

How is the gardening book?

It's depressing, and not so young adult (not that it's ADULT, more it focuses on adults) as her other books. I will finish it today. Last night I read until I fell asleep. I had to know what would happen next :P

message 6711: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Starting Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater today. I'm a bit hesitant because on reflection, I didn't like Shiver as much as I thought I did, but I may as well read what I have and hopefully the library will get in my next books quickly.

message 6712: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead . I love this series and this book did not disappoint.

Oh, what to read next? I've got Equilibrium (Portal Chronicles, #2) by Imogen Rose Willow by Julia Hoban Don't Die, Dragonfly (The Seer, #1) by Linda Joy Singleton The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta . What will it be?

message 6713: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin (catsbooksandcritters) | 27 comments I'm rereading Brisingr (Inheritance, #3) by Christopher Paolini

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Peep wrote: "How is the gardening book?"

So far its okay. Seems a little too focused on city gardening at this point (and the back just says SMALL spaces, not specifically city). Suburbia has been mentioned in more of a people with a lot of money/negative way. Since I live in my parents garage I'm still a poor suburban gardener.

Jury is out still. It's pretty and colorful but I hope the whole focus is not 100% city gardening.

message 6715: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Heidi Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins was funny and light. When I read it there were a number of people who said that they didn't like it because they thought it was unoriginal and fluffy but I really enjoyed it. It was quick and cute but not the next ground breaking novel by any means.

message 6716: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I completely agree with you Jaimie. I really liked it, thought there were some great lines, laughed my face off a few times, and will definitely be reading the next one, but it certainly wasn't a blow your mind kind of read.

When she yells, "Bad Dog!" I just about peed my pants laughing and the line about her spell being lame in the prologue had me rolling in fits too. Hawkins really didn't take herself seriously and the storyline really was very interesting, especially toward the end.

Thanks. Guess I'll keep looking. I guess I need something that's more for the super absolute beginner.

message 6718: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I found myself charging ahead on Young Samurai The Way of the Warrior (Young Samurai, #1) by Chris Bradford and will probably finish that up before The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan . It is more the subject matter than the story that keeps me going. (I've always had a thing for feudal Japan, Samurai and the Bushido code). It's been reading a bit like Shogun lite meets the Karate Kid. But I'm enjoying it enough that I will certainly download the next book once I am finished.

Looking forward to getting The Wise Man's Fear (Kingkiller Chronicle, #2) by Patrick Rothfuss tomorrow. A co-worker recommended The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss and I really enjoyed it and want to know the rest of the story!

As usual: so many books, so little time...

message 6719: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments I second Catie's recommendation, Lloyd! Love that series :D

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments Finished Crank (Crank, #1) by Ellen Hopkins last night a bit before midnight and I must say WOW... just incredible. The verse style is very new to me but I listened to it in audio and enjoyed it a lot. I am on the waiting list for the next one (also in audio) from my library. I may have to buy them because I may want to reread them. I need to check my email and see if Glass is available yet.

I am still plugging through Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate but not loving it at 60 percent and am considering abandoning it... if I do I may pick it up again at some time. Maybe I am just not in the mood for it.

I am reading The Lying Game (The Lying Game, #1) by Sara Shepard and am really enjoying it. I may try to finish it today. It is pretty good and very different. I haven't read the Pretty Little Liars series yet.

Arphaxad | 335 comments Also, I just finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling , which was, like the others, great fun. Now I'm annoyed because #4 hasn't come in at the library yet! What will I do with my lunchbreak? Tsk.. :)

Not yet, but I want to. Looks like they will have to be the library though, since the publisher is charging $12.99 for the Kindle edition (which is insane).

From the reviews I've read so far on it, a lot of people aren't very happy with this book. I really don't go by reviews though, because I've noticed the things people hate, I tend to like.

That's what I've heard too. But I loved all of them and it seems like the last 2 or 3 books others hated. So I think I'll like it.

Amanda (bookaddict_92) | 37 comments I asked this somewhere else, but I'm not sure if I got a response..

I'm reading The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks and I'm wondering, when does it get better?

I'm on chapter twelve, and I'm still bored with the book....

message 6739: by Jenshii (last edited Feb 28, 2011 04:17PM) (new)

Jenshii (ohmydahling) I'm currently reading The Akhenaten Adventure (Children of the Lamp, #1) by Philip Kerr

Anyone else read/liked it before?

Also reading Everwild (Skinjacker, #2) by Neal Shusterman
Loved Everlost (Skinjacker, #1) by Neal Shusterman so I thought I'd give this a try.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I heard about LK Madigan on twitter. I followed her (though I haven't read her books) so it made me really sad.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I forgot to mention that the gardening book does seem beginner friendly. I just feel a little nervous with its direction as a suburbanite. I'll keep you posted. It has good reviews and all so maybe the intro is just misleading.

I have!!!!! I absolutely love it! I still have to read book 2 though. But it's a wonderful book and fantastic story!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments At my knitting group we had a weird moment today. I only see these lovely ladies once a month. One of the other women was talking about a book she just read. She said "I'm not even going to tell you what its about because you'll think its crazy. It was 99 cents on Nook." So I asked what book it was--she just finished Switched too!

And she's continuing the series whereas I'm on the fence but the same exact things annoyed us. Kinda weird how we don't hang out but we're reading the same book at the same time.
