Heidi They are on Netflix Cassi. I have yet to watch them though!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Do it Heidi!!! It was such an underloved show. Had a bit of a cult following--was saved from cancellation by sending tabasco bottles to the studio (now everybody does that but 10 years ago it was cool!).

Better than a lot of whats on TV today. Maybe that's why I watch so much HGTV

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments I will have to add them to the Netflix Q. I love to watch TV shows on Netflix. I have been loving Weeds. I am on season 5.

message 6104: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I will check it out Cassi. I am all about the underappreciated shows like Veronica Mars and Everwood. I just started watching Instant Star today (see tv thread), so it will have to be after I finish that one up because I can not add any more shows to the pile.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I also liked Veronica Mars AND Everwood! So maybe Roswell will be right on target.

Heidi Cassi wrote: "I also liked Veronica Mars AND Everwood! So maybe Roswell will be right on target."

Okey dokey! I will give you an update when I get to it :)

message 6107: by Traci (new)

Traci Oh man I loved Everwood so much! None of my friends remember it but my sister and I used to watch that show like crazy.

My first TV soulmate was Buffy, though. Hands down. I think Gilmore Girls comes in second (The WB was just so great!)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Cassi wrote: "I should say me and one of my friends on twitter have been talking about the strange similarities between Twilight & Roswell (TV show).

PS Max wins above all of the characters perviously mentioned..."

I was crazy for Bad Boy Michael, which is no big surprise. I like the badboys.

message 6109: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) My soulmate tv show was DEFINITELY Buffy. I Have all the Buffy seasons and all the Angel seasons. I even have firefly and Dollhouse just cause they are Joss Whedon.

I loved Dawsons Creek too, watched them a million times. (I loved the WB too!)

Now I love Glee, but none of them are with as much passion as I loved Buffy.

Did you know that some lady is trying to sue McD's so that we take the happy meal toys out of the happy meals. She says the toys make kids make bad food choice because they want the toy..umm I sort of thought it was the parent that LETS their kid make the bad food choices...I mean you can get nuggets instead of a burger, apple dippers instead of fries, milk or juice instead of soda..but if you let your kid get burgers and fries, then..well even if there was no toy wouldn't they still get burgers and fries?? LOL I don't know but I think its stupid.

message 6111: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Heidi I wrote: "McDonald's needs to offer veggie burgers! Burger King has had them for years. Come on Stormi - get on that for me (jk :)"

I so did not know BK had veggie burgers..hmmmm interesting..lol

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Really I would probably take any of the Roswell boys above a lot of fictional characters. Michael was a bad boy but he was sweet just had a sucky home life, Max always wanted to do right for everybody, Alex...oh Alex...he was so funny.

I'm also glad that other people have TV soulmates.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Stormi wrote: "Heidi I wrote: "McDonald's needs to offer veggie burgers! Burger King has had them for years. Come on Stormi - get on that for me (jk :)"

I've been told they are soggy. Maybe that's just the local BK

message 6114: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) If I said what my first favorite show was it will give away my age...not that I am that old, but still..lol...oh okay I bet hardly anyone here has heard of this one but I loved Scarecrow and Mrs. King when I was a kid in the 80's, but now I am a die hard NCIS fan.

message 6115: by Heidi (new)

Heidi They have to make the BK Veggie on the broiler - otherwise they suck. I never get them when the drive thru is super busy because they tend to overcook them. Otherwise I am a big fan. Stormi BK has had a veggie burger for at least 5-7 years.

message 6116: by Heidi (new)

Heidi p.s. My how we love to be off topic, don't we!

Heidi Traci I own all the Gimore Girls on DVD. Love it!

Or how about if you think it's such a bad food choice you just make them something at home. That's the part that cracks me up. Kids don't choose their own dinner, parents choose for them. So if the parent chose to take them to mcdonalds, toy or not, they'd still be getting the Happy Meal.

message 6120: by Brandie (new)

Brandie Sump Cassi,

you may like Nicholas Sparks for romantic books. However, they are sad and some of the loved ones die but im not a mushy mushy romantic reader either and I like his books!

message 6121: by Mike (new)

Mike (the_real_bigby_wolf) | 2 comments A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire. The first book is called Rosemary and Rue and it's really fun Urban Fantasy set in San Francisco dealing with the Fae (think Jim's Butcher's Summer Knight). I'm not certain if it's YA but it's good.

message 6122: by Julie (new)

Julie | 7 comments I am about 100 pages into Uglies. I have the other 3 books waiting for me once I am finished!! I have heard great things, so I hope to really enjoy this series!!! :)

My mom LOVES NCIS... she watches it so much, she knows the episode before it even starts.

message 6124: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Amanda,

I am the same way with NCIS, its on the USA channel so I am always watching all the reruns, I just love Mark Harmon..lol

message 6125: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookaddict_92) | 37 comments Same with my mom!
And when they have a marathon, it's like Christmas morning...
Pretty crazy.
But, I do love Abby.
She makes her job look fun,
So does Ducky LOL

message 6126: by Jill (new)

Jill | 68 comments OMG! Finished Nightshade. It was great. I can't believe I have to wait until June for the next book! Started Anna and the French Kiss Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins last night and can't wait to get back there.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments Julie wrote: "I am about 100 pages into Uglies. I have the other 3 books waiting for me once I am finished!! I have heard great things, so I hope to really enjoy this series!!! :)"

I really enjoyed this series. I read it way back when I first got my Kindle. I also enjoyed the City of Ember series (post apocalyptic). Hope you like it!

Everyone is making me really look forward to starting Nightshade! I have been hearing great things about Anna as well.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I do NOT like Nicholas Sparks. Gave it a chance back in high school and regretted spending my time on two of his books (lots of times I give authors two shots if they're wildly popular).

Mike I don't think the October Daye books are YA but you can still talk about them here (I do because I love that series!)

message 6130: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I love some NCIS.

I'm still moving along with my ARC books from netgalley. Well about as fast as I can, I should finish my second book from it today, YAY! I might take a break and read a library book that came in the other day, since I only have two weeks to read those unlike netgalley books.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments This is my own personal soapbox but I've never thought the problem with obesity is food--it's laziness. Kids used to play. People used to do physical labor. When in the history of the world have we ever ate healthy?

I don't do fastfood often because I just don't like fastfood. But I think it's stupid to blame others for your choices. (And that seems to be the biggest issue in today's society)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I agree that we should all eat healthier because now we have the knowledge to know how. I just think the lack of activity is what has changed because our eating habits have always sucked.

I live in Eastern Kentucky and the Wall Street Journal (Or New York Times, I can't recall) had an article about a town about an hour from me where the percent of obese people is just ABSURD. It frustrates me because I've seen people buy like 10 cases of Mountain Dew with foodstamps. Shouldn't they're be a better system to make sure people who are buying with government funds (my taxpayer dollars) are forced to make better choices?

message 6133: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) When it comes to children I think it has a lot to do with the parents and I don't think they should go blaming fast food..I work there and when I see a parent let there eight year old kid who is plump get a big mac MEAL! It makes me mad..I want to say..can't you see your kid is getting fat..don't let him have a big meal!!! It drives me crazy because I am overweight and I wish my parents would have made me be more active and not take me out to eat so much as a child..I take my own food to work trying to stay away from it and lose some weight. :(

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I've never had weight issues because I have a fast metabolism (kinda ridiculously so, can't miss a meal. If I'm sleeping in a take a snack to my room to wake up & eat so I can sleep longer). But where I live is on the forefront of the obesity battle and the Girl Scout council I'm employed by is trying to promote healthy/active lifestyles.

Found the article it was the Washington Post (my brain is still half asleep this morning). http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/...

This is what happens when I'm trying to edit. I've only read the first chapter of Sapphique this weekend and it was good but somehow I'm not quite in the reading mode right now.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Starting to get into Vampire Academy at first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but now I am intrigued. :)

message 6136: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Finished Shadowfever. I started it yesterday around noon and finished it today at noon. I literally couldn't stop. I'm still in a fog.

message 6137: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Yeah! So was it worth all that waiting?

message 6138: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yes! I wish there was another one now. I hate when a book ends and I have to lose those characters. I want more Barrons.

message 6139: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I finished my non YA book which was fantastic...I'm now reading Warped by Maurissa Guibord since it's a library book and due back in 2 weeks.

message 6140: by Mila (new)

Mila Loved Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and now I'm reading Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver . The beginning is slower then I though it would be, but it's finally picking up and I'm liking it.

message 6141: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay! Another Anna lover.

I have Delirium in progress. I have it on NetGalley. I am also reading Catching Fire on my Kindle so I am distracted. :-P I want to read Anna and the French Kiss.

Ouuu Stormi I'm on the last in the series right now and I'd have to say that Vampire Academy is the worst of the 6.. they only get better and better! I stayed up until 4am two nights in a row so that I could finish books 4 & 5... it was crazy. I'm glad you're liking it!

message 6144: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Emily,

I have been watching Being Human too and it is not to bad. I think it is starting to get a little better as the episodes go on, it sort of has to build up.

message 6145: by Angela (new)

Angela Just went on a marathon of YA reading. Finished Tiger's Quest (excellent) and Forest of Hands and Teeth series(very excellent) and now reading Marcello in the Real World which is amazing. I highly recommend these as well as Incarceron for those who liked Hunger Games. Going to start The Mortal Instruments series tomorrow. Can't wait!

Sorry to be a snob, but I love the BBC Being Human, so I have made a pact with myself not to watch the US version. You can't improve on perfection!

Heidi Catie wrote: "I read Alanna last night and I loved it! That's exactly the type of book I want to have around for my girls when they're 11-12 years old. Moving on to #2 today!"

Yay! A featured author success story. I plan to read book two in that series this month as well :)

I agree. My least favorite of the VA books is Vampire Academy but then, like you said, all of the other books in this series just keep on getting better and better. I'm currently on Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead and loving it.
