Traci I agree. Shay got on my nerves quite a bit. I'm pro Ren as well.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Oh I LOOOOVE Tamora Pierce. I'm trying not to do rereads at the moment (she needs to finish Mastiff ASAP!

I just finished What I Saw And How I Lied by Judy Blundell and really enjoyed it. I'm also almost done with my audiobook

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I didn't mean to post that already. I'm in the indecisive about what to move onto stage....again

Kevin (manchesterunited) | 14 comments I just finished I Am Number Four. I honestly could not put this book down! For me it had the same un-put-down-able excitement of reading The Hunger Games. Start this book when you have a free night to finish it!

Lloyd | 415 comments For those who have Kindles, I've heard good things about this book and finally decided to download it...because it is .99 cents today!

Lloyd | 415 comments I've been put off regarding the controversy and comments about I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore as well, but after my wife read and actually seemed to enjoy it, I've kept it on the TBR stack. I still haven't gotten to it yet, but one of these days...

message 5962: by Traci (new)

Traci I feel like this will be one of the rare cases where the movie is better than the book. I Am Number Four had good action that can be brought to life on the screen, but the grammatical errors and terrible writing just could not redeem it in my eyes.

Plus, James Frey is a big jerk. :p

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments I just started The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins on my Kindle and I am still reading my ARC of Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver from netgalley on my computer.

What does James Frey have to do with I am Number Four? I must know.

Every time I see that it just...ugh. I guess that's a big reason why I still haven't read it. I regret having spent money on it. :(

I haven't been intending to read this book because well bad grammar (unless its my own) eats at my soul in books and newspapers.

And now that I've read that & it sounds so sketchy--especially for the actual writer, I wouldn't buy a copy on moral grounds.

message 5969: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Well, I did a little old-fashioned book shopping at lunch today and bought a couple physical honest-to-goodness tree killing books.

I got the new YA Jack book Jack Secret Vengeance (Repairman Jack) by F. Paul Wilson and picked up Graceling by Kristin Cashore since it was on sale and I see everyone talking about it all the time.

No, it's not what I'm reading right now. But I bought 'em. Soon!

Right now, I'm still working on finishing up Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness . (Enjoyed this series and am going to miss it when I'm done.)

message 5970: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Wow! That makes me not want to read it or see the movie... That guy is a conniving piece of poop!

Lloyd | 415 comments Wendy wrote: "Wow! That makes me not want to read it or see the movie... That guy is a conniving piece of poop!"

Amen. Plus, when I got the book and the first thing I saw on the cover was a blurb from Michael Bay saying how great it is? (Not the guy you want to endorse anything with an actual STORY - if you can judge him by his movies) :P

message 5972: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Of course he endorced it, he's producing the movie. I'm rolling my eyes right now, btw.

It's all about making money.

message 5973: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Aw man, that's a shame! And also decidedly weird. I'm even less sure whether to read this now. Maybe I'll get round to grabbing it from the library at some point, but...man. D:

message 5974: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) It is not on my TBR list, so if I read it it will be a long time from now.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments MORE WOES WITH MY JACKY FABER LISTENING!!!

The CDs I ordered from Amazon only have 12---there are suppose to be 13. There isn't even a spot for a 13th CD.

Flipping out now.

Started listening to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson but plan to stop as soon as I get a replacement CD set from amazon.

message 5976: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Cassi - that really sucks! I missed the entire 13th disk of book 4 it was just missing. You need to get a membership to the Philly Free Library! It has all the Jacky audiobooks on their overdrive. Do it!!! I did and can't be happier. I also made my sister give me her library card number so I can use her Overdrive in MN. I am evil!

A slightly better tree killer because I use the library. Hahaha

Oh, my wife and I make great use of the library as well. (She gets to stay home and finds the time to read two or so books a week. Yes, I am jealous.)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm on book 4 too!! I just got them to send me a new one and if it's missing the 13th CD I'm going to pitch a proper fit--but not to Amazon, to the producer of the CD.

Amazon's customer service was clearly out of like Indian (or so the accent sounded) and the lady had NO CLUE what an audiobook was. She asked me if there were pages missing from my book. I had to explain like 3 times that a CD was missing.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Now I'm very paranoid since it happen to Heidi too. The problem is not Amazon, its the company that makes the CDs. If this one is messed up I will be calling and I will not be quite as nice as I was to Amazon.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Just finished Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning now I have to decide if I can wait till I get all whole series from B&N through the mail or just go and buy the ebook version of Bloodfever NOW! LOL It was a really good book so thanks to all who recommended this series I really think I am going to enjoy it. :)

message 5983: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can't wait for Shadowfever!! I track it and it should be here tomorrow! Thank goodness!

I started Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost and i already love it. Bones and Cat are hilarious (he's also hot). I think it is probably another new favorite, provided the others are this good too.

I fell in love with BDB, Fever and Night Huntress in 3 months...

message 5984: by Gwennie (new)

Sorry - but I am Number Four rates a four out of ten. It's cliche, excessive, and written by a hack. You outta find the article on line on how it came about. And the crappiest page is when the alien reveals he's an alien to his flat character love interest who automatically accepts him after a four sentence explanation. Don't waste your time with this one -- the movie is going to be better than the book! Comes out Feb. 18.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Reading Intrinsical by Lani Woodland so far its okay but its not wowing me. I might be moving on to A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford ARC. Then go back to the other book.

I'm assuming there is more to the story right? It doesn't just END without conclusions. This is not fun. Supposedly they're overnighting a new one to me so we'll see what happens.

My problem with getting the books off overdrive or audible is that I listen to them while driving. My iPod is broken & even if it weren't finding dead air is frustrating. CDs are so easy while driving.

Understandable. I am all about the fm transmitters. I have 4 different kinds! If you can't fix your mp3 player and want to get a cheap one (like a sansa, which get great reviews), you could get an fm transmitter for it (unsually under $15) and listen through your fm radio of your car. They make fm transmitters for everything now. I even got a universal one so I could listen to those Playaway things in the car.

Arphaxad | 335 comments I've started King Dork by Frank Portman , which has been sitting on my shelf for ages.

It's somewhat strange so far, and I've got pretty much no idea what's going on. But it's entertaining, so I'll keep going and see if the plot decides to make itself known at some point.. :)
