Its not a secret that I've fallen in love with audibooks this past year. But I don't want just any audiobooks--I prefer ones that make me laugh. I drive quite a bit for my job so that's pretty much exclusively when I listen to them (though I have knit to an audiobook & its better than knitting & watching TV).

I don't know if I would just sit in my room doing nothing and listening to an audiobook. For me I don't think that would work very well. If you have to drive anywhere like 1 hr, 2 hrs by yourself that would be a good time to give it a go. As always I suggest Jacky Faber because I'm simply in love with it/the narrator.

Well, if you EVER make an exception for an audiobook, and it's a romance audiobook, you should should definitely check out anything by Phil Gigante. You can listen to clips here: http://www.castlibrary.com/narrators/... but I don't think they're the best clips. Definitely good on the ears.

Apparently he was in the Fever audiobooks, too? http://www.karenmoning.com/audio/drmc...

message 5353: by Heidi (new)

Heidi It must have been the 4th Fever book Peep because I listened to the first 3 on audio and it was just a female narrator. p.s. I love audiobooks!

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I can't get intoApe House, so I decided to read Wish.

I think I'm burning myself out on reading. This will be my 6th book in under 2 weeks, I think I read too much.

While I think there is no such things are reading too much...there is reading yourself into a rut and I've done that before. Usually I try to switch up genres, re-read a favorite or take a little time off and work on knitting or writing instead.

message 5356: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments Cassi- I agree, there is no such thing as reading too much, but I think I might be in a rut, so I'm going to try this book out and see if I can get back into reading again. I don't like reading ruts, they really kill my mood, especially when I want to read but can't find anything that will keep my attention.

message 5357: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 97 comments I have found that switching up genres really helps keep me out of a rut.

message 5358: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I agree about reading ruts. Or you can find yourself reading 8 different things at one time. :P

message 5359: by Heather (new)

Heather McCorkle (heathermccorkle) I'm reading Rampant and am liking it a lot so far. Who knew killer unicorns would be so interesting?!

message 5360: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Heather, can you post the cover or the author for me please? That sounds interesting AND funny..

message 5361: by Heather (new)

Heather McCorkle (heathermccorkle) Brandi wrote: "Heather, can you post the cover or the author for me please? That sounds interesting AND funny.." Sure! It's Diana Peterfreund.

Rampant (Killer Unicorns, #1) by Diana Peterfreund

message 5362: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Just finished Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins . For all you Jessica Darling fans out there, Sophie totally reminded me of her, but in a paranormal setting.

Think I'll get started on Dragon Slippers (Dragon Slippers, #1) by Jessica Day George tomorrow.

message 5363: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I finished Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta . It was good, thought it was really funny.

Now I can't decide between the following books...

Graceling (The Seven Kingdoms, #1) by Kristin Cashore Bloody Jack Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy (Bloody Jack, #1) by L.A. Meyer Everlost (The Skinjacker Trilogy, #1) by Neal Shusterman The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #1) by Jonathan Stroud

Thanks! What a pretty cover...these YA books do have some of the prettiest cover art!

message 5366: by Kurukka (last edited Jan 11, 2011 05:58PM) (new)

Kurukka I'm all for The Amulet, Wendy, lalala.

Going to read The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials, #3) by Philip Pullman . Big, big book. I'm kind of scared because this story is extremely complicated and the more I try to figure things out, the more headaches I get. @.@ Please someone tell me it's worth reading those 522 pages.

message 5367: by Traci (new)

Traci I went on a little book adventure today and I ended up with 9 new ones :D So excited.

Going to start The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan and I can't wait. I've heard amazing things and the style seems so cool.

Tracy T. Right now I'm reading Knightley Academy (Knightley Academy, #1) by Violet Haberdasher .

I am on a huge YA kick right now. I have both Curse of the Blue Tattoo Being an Account of the Misadventures of Jacky Faber, Midshipman and Fine Lady (Bloody Jack, #2) by L.A. Meyer On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta waiting for me at the library.

message 5372: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Alright Catie! Thanks :) I'm curious about the ending now, I'm not easily offended anyway :P

message 5373: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I actually took a turn and decided to read The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan .

I love this series and the book has been waiting for me. After this I'm thinking I'll read Bloody Jack first. I try to trade up plots, so no two mythology books back to back.

Great choices Wendy!

Rachel (rmenard) | 6 comments I am reading Matched. Maybe it's because there was so much hype around it, but I'm not loving it. Although there are many things in the writing to admire, I keep losing interest. The characters don't have me sucked in. Anyone feel the same?

message 5376: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am skipping Matched - not many people here loved it. Too many other things to read!

I couldn't get very far before I had to put that book down. I'm not sure I can even say what turned me off. I think it was because I had recently read The Knife of Never Letting Go which has such endearing characters.

message 5379: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Mmmmmm, I love Todd and Viola. I wish I was still reading that series.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Wendy wrote: "Mmmmmm, I love Todd and Viola. I wish I was still reading that series."

Ditto. I'm enjoying Sherlock Holmes but well...I want to know more about the New World, and the Spack, and Todd, and the Sky...

(And I'm saying words that mean nothing unless you read the book)

message 5381: by Heidi (new)

Heidi *sigh* Todd and Viola forever! Ursula you have tempted me, but I am not saying a word about Breaking Dawn. I am being good...see Shannen??

Although true... I'm quite proud of you Heidi.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I think I'm going to finish Dreamfever tonight. The story is just as good the 2nd time. Also having already read the book I skipped ahead last night and read the final chapter. Let me tell you... it is just as frustrating the 2nd time around. Stupid Beast!

Also I'm still plugging away on The Thirteenth Tale on audio. I have to say the audio it great. Probably not the greatest book to be listening to while at the gym, but still it's great.

I'm also reading Harry Potter y la piedra filosofia. I'm limiting myself to a chapter a night because it takes forever for me to get through in a foreign language, but it's still fantastic.

Next up I'm reading Sarah's Key for my bookclub and I got Sapphique from the library. It's finally out in the U.S.!

Oh! Tell me how Saphique goes. For some strange and odd reason, Incarceron has really stuck with me and I wonder about it in between books. I really hate not being able to finish a series this intriguing.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Wendy wrote: "It's making me nostalgic! I loved The Land! ."

I love the Return and the Source as well. The Clearing--now that I have mixed feelings on.

I'm very much enjoying this Chaos Walking speak.

message 5396: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Heidi I, I haven't said anything for the same reason, I'm just going to shut my mouth and let others form their own opinions, but it's awfully hard sometimes.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Think I'm going to Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman . I like how Sherlock Holmes is in small doses so I can read a little bit then switch books.

I have some galleys from netgalleys (the first ones I've gotten) but they're having an issue with the kindle emailing so I can't read them :(

I'm not so happy with The Clearing though, with the exception of The Source, The Knife and his One in Particular.

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I didn't even start Wish by Alexandra Bullen and since I didn't I decided I'm not ready to read it yet. So, I'm going to read The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan since I loved the Percy Jackson series...

Questions: Does this site have ARC sign ups? If so, where can I sign up, if not where can I go to sign up?

Will do Becca. I wouldn't say Incarceron is the best book I've ever read by any means, but I just have to know what happens. I especially love Jared!
