Basically, something a little more professional for the older guy and something short or more interesting for the younger guy. Not being ageist or anything. It just seems like a generational trend.

But it'd be a little more helpful if I knew more about the characters...

For older people you should do names that are hardly used that were really popular. Like Gertrude. But Thomas would work really well.

Erebus Woods - Erebus in Greek myth is the son of the God Chaos and represents darkness and shadows
Nyx Forest - Nyx means of the night.
Crimson Woods - Crimson is the colour of blood.
