Advanced Reader Copies of Books

I've read a few advance copies but that is only because I have a friend who is a Librarian and Pres of her, ummm not union but association I guess you'd call it. She seems to have occasionally receive advance copies of stuff.

Sydney get out of my head! I had these very same thoughts just the other day.
I had contacted a couple of publishing companies to possibly get our group the opportunity of doing advanced readings for upcoming books.
Thanks for the link Meg I registered us with them also.
Jo is also working with me on this project and we are making contacts with different publishers, authors and literary groups to get our groups information out there.
This is such a unique group of women from all ages, backgrounds, and regions that I feel it is the perfect match for those that want to know honest opinions about books and content within.

I've gotten a couple of ARC's through bookmooch, but like I said, the books I got through working in TV weren't true ARC copies, they were the same copies you saw in the bookstore, I just got 'em a few weeks to a month early.
See I knew you were reading my mind! I'm sorry Ill try to keep it cleaner ;).
Thanks for the links I have signed up our group on all of them and will keep you updated if something comes of it.

I imagine most of these go to people who review books for a living, but it just seems like in my experience here and on bookmooch, LOTS of people are getting these advanced reader copies. I always find it amazing when I see a review of a book that hasn't even come out in stores yet. It makes me wonder if the people have actually truly read the book (via an ARC) or if they're just making it all up.
Selfishly, I also would LOVE to be one of those readers to receive those ARCs.
Anyone have insight on this one?
