I totally agree. Even though a lot of the lies were meant for protection, look at the backlash they had on the main characters. I also think family is a major theme throughout Clare's story.

I also thought that one of the themes is not to be prejudiced against others. I thought that Clary had a point that there is no reason to not like demons as a group when vampires, fairies, and other beings are judged based off themselves not as a group.
