message 1909: by Summer (new)

Summer Beeman-Fonseca (subeeman) | 2 comments My name is Summer, though I easily answer by Remmie. :) I'm currently 22 years of age, and a freshman in college. I'm a bookaholic. The worst moment in my life was when one of my teachers threatened to take/burn my books because I was always caught reading and not paying attention! Some of my favorite authors include C.C. Hunter, Anne Violet, and Deborah Harkness. That's about all I can think of for now. I love all kinds of books, and always have my phone (Kindle app) and iTouch (also containing my kindle app) and read almost constantly. I love having books on the go! I do write some poetry, but mostly keep it to myself.

message 1910: by Alex (new)

Alex | 46 comments Hi my name is Alex I'm 22 and just finished uni so looking forward to the extra reading time :) I read all different types of books and I'm looking forward to reading some more YA. I don't have a favourite book as I love so many!!

message 1911: by Komal (new)

Komal (k0k0) Hey Summer! You should really post some of that poetry you keep hidden! And I can totally relate to an embarrassment in class because of my love for books. I still sneak in the back row and read if the lecture's too boring or easy.

Hey Alex! I wish to be over with my university as soon as possible so I can indulge in books too, but I'm afraid it'll take a long time. True that about too many good books. You can always explore goodreads for YA novels, it's a huge site.

message 1913: by Luan (new)

Luan Costa Good morning, I'm Luan, 21, RJ, Brazil.
I am not attached to books cheesy, queasy me quickly. I love suspense and would like recommendations over time.
Currently I'm reading different themes to see if I'll like it as much suspense, when Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts. It's interesting so far.
Hugs and Happy 2013 to all!

Favorite young adult books are Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick and Nightfall (The Vampire Diaries The Return, #1) by L.J. Smith For a man, these books are great because they have much more than just romance, Hush Hush is amazing, its suspense makes you not want to stop reading.

message 1914: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Stultz (wicketwillowbean) | 1 comments My name is Elizabeth and I'm 24 years old. I live in Kentucky (Louisville, to be precise). I have a BA in psychology and did two minors in English with a concentration in literature and Medieval Studies. I studied French for 5 years and have experience with Japanese, German, and Latin. One of my dreams is to translate Medieval Latin and French manuscripts. The other is to eventually become an archaeologist.

Currently, I work with toddlers as a teacher in a daycare. It's not exactly my dream job, or the best use of my degree, but it works for now. I am going back to school in August to work towards a degree in education so that I can become a third grade teacher. I also plan on doing another major in either microbiology or anthropology. I do enjoy some aspects of my job such as being able to teach my children and the joy that I receive when they finally catch on to what I've taught them. I also enjoy the smiles, hugs, and kisses that I get from my kids when I come to work in the mornings.

I am an avid reader and have been since I was a child. I generally read anything except westerns, romance, and inspirational/Christian books. I quite enjoy horror, fantasy, historical fiction, and mysteries. I have also gotten into the Quirk classics recently. Right now, I am reading Android Karenina. Classic literature is another favorite of mine with Edgar Allan Poe, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, HP Lovecraft, Victor Hugo, and Gaston LeRoux being among my favorites.

I look forward to making new friends and taking part in book discussions.

-Elizabeth

I'm Kath, I live in Latin America, and I'm in my late twenties. Still, I love YA books like nobody's business.

This group seems like a nice place to fangrrrl over my favorite books like only I can, so here I am. :)

Right now I'm immersed in Dystopias. Just finished Fever, gearing up to start Under The Never Sky, and scouting for a copy of Rip Tide. My fave so far is Unwind, followed closely by THG trilogy.

So... yep, that's me. Nice to meet you, guys!

message 1944: by Beth (new)

Beth Michele (bethmichelewriter) | 25 comments Hi!

My name is Beth and I have a passion for reading and a love for writing. I love YA, and my favorite books right now are Slammed, Point of Retreat, and Flat Out Love.

One of the things I love about YA is the way the authors say so much without having to say anything at all. The way the love scenes don't have to be explicit to give you goosebumps, make your heart pound, or cause that single tear to trickle down your face.

LOVE YA!!!

message 1945: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (rickjohn09) | 1 comments Hi guys! I'm Patrick and I'm from Philippines. I think I'm quite older than being a young adult? But YA is definitely always a must do read.

message 1946: by Lizzie (new)

Lizzie (tatteredtink) | 87 comments Hello, I'm Lizzie, I'm a 28 yr old mother of 3 and I love YA books. My daughter is turning 11 and I'm super excited that she is starting to become somewhat interested in the same books as me. I'm odd because I tend to base books on there covers, if the cover calls to me I generally end up loving the book. I'm also old fashion, in that I do not own a kindle or nook. I just love the feel of the book in my hand and turning each page. Although there are several series I've read that have companion books that are e-reads only so I may have to break down in the future. I'm excited to join this group, and to hear everyones opinions.

message 1947: by Beth (new)

Beth Michele (bethmichelewriter) | 25 comments Welcome Lizzie & Patrick!!! :)

message 1948: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, I'm Tenielle. Im sixteen, the biggest nerd in school (bookwise, and am completely okay with that. I love dystopians and high fantasy (the Seven Realms series is amazing!)I spend more money on books than some would believe possible, and love YA, mostly because I am one.
I love the MI/IF series and Code Name Verity is one of the best books out there. No discussion.
I'm a loner on goodreads at the moment, but hope to meet some people that are just as into books as I am.
