Félix (habitseven) Gail lives in the future. She should know if the rupture rapture came or not.

I am looking out the window at the moment. It looks pretty much how it did yesterday. Although the sun is not out today.

Poor kitty. Merry Christmas, there will be no dignity in your stocking this year. Adorable though.

Hey... I just realized that Gisele Bundchen's and Tom Brady's boy. No wonder he's got swagger.

I did, actually. She is so hot.

Susan | 6406 comments Two years ago, a chubby little hummingbird took over our feeder. It was not fermented but freshly made sugar water that I had just put in and the hummingbirds were plentiful. Until little chubs came in for a drink and decided to perch on the hook holding the feeder and sat there in between chasing off the others. I have never witnessed a hummingbird just sit somewhere for so long. He did it for a week.

Jim | 6484 comments Hummingbirds are very territorial.

Susan | 6406 comments There are usually a small group (perhaps a family?) that spend time at the feeder each year. This little guy was not sharing. I placed our feeder right outside the kitchen window. It was perfect for watching.

Félix (habitseven) I once had an extraordinary hummingbird experience. It happened at the rural cottage of a marital relative outside of Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, in the Maritime provinces of Canada.

The cousins who lived there had set up a large feeding station for hummingbirds. We all sat and watched as upwards of 25 hummers circled the feeder and fed, getting into little squabbles and swooping around like jet fighters. The sound of the wings beating was unbelievable. We were all just awestruck by the display.

I wonder if I'll ever get to see such a thing again.

Susan | 6406 comments 25! That would be so amazing! They do sound and remind me of jet fighters! I love to sit on our little back deck/gazebo and watch them zoom back in forth from feeder to tree. I hope we get a good group this year.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Felix if you want to see an amazing hummingbird extravaganza, you must visit Costa Rica. They have actual HUMMINGBIRD PARKS where you can witness thousands of black, green and multi-hued hummers all around you. Mostly they feed on these incredible flowers, but the park also provides hummingbird feeders. Awesome.

Susan | 6406 comments That is very cool!

Félix (habitseven) I would love to make that trip.

Susan | 6406 comments Also amazing are the birds that build their nests in the Alligator Farm in Florida during the months of April through July. I was there in May a few years ago and got some really great photos of all the birds. Lots of herons, egrets, ibis, spoonbills and wood storks.

We have them here, Felarry. My mom has a feeder on her deck and they come all winter.
