Book is about a teenage princess who rules in a land covered much in snow an empire starts to invade and her father is killed she becomes queen. Empire never been beaten before. She sucessfully drives the empire back with the help of polar bears/snow leopards/snow animals and a young wizard whom she is close too. her name begins with T i think and she has shield in her name. I think people in her kingdom have animal names or earn them in battle. Think the author also might have Stephen/Steven in his name i cant find anything about an I cannot remember enough of the details to search properly. Hope someone can give me some ideas.

First in a series think was his first book hope this helps really injoyed the book and want to read again
