Why is X not included is this challenge? And what if I do read a book with an X in it? I have read Lords of the Bow in which I have 2 cities with an X. The cities aren't very important in the book and I don't think they qualify. But they may in the next book in the series. So I was just wondering.

This is also one of the more impractical challenges, in that you can't browse books by location, so it's very hard to plan for, unless you ask others for recommendations.
The series I'm reading is about Genghis Khan, so I have all these nice Mongolian names and in the second book he's invading China and the people who live there and you get these wonderful Chinese names so that's why I'm lucky and got my Y location. One I also think can't be too easy like the Q. I agree with you to make it optional and for now I will let my Y stand maybe I'll change it later on.
I like it that you can't plan for this challenge. i must say that I don't really plan for most of the challenges and just see if what I've read meets any of the requirements.

Wow Barbara!!!!! Thats amazing... Emma and Lauren to!
Ok, I just finished my Z location book and I am now looking for a Q location book. Anyone any ideas?

It might be worth starting with places that start with 'Q' like Queens, Queensland, Quebec, Qatar. This might help you: http://www.fallingrain.com/world/a/Q/
Nice, thanks. I saw A clash of kings in your list but since I am focusing on TDRC and I can't fit those books in there I don't want to read them yet. I do want to read the series but not just now. But this site will help with looking for books. It would be nice to finish this challenge especially since I did find and X location.

You're racing ahead with DRC though, and considering the speed you read at, two 800+ page novels that don't fit your purposes won't slow you down much, and you can finish this one in the meantime :)
I don't even know if Quirm is actually placed or not on any of the Discworld maps. It probably is and I just forgotten it.
I know but then again I am going for the 33 books for the task Crusader nominated and not the 11 books option so that should make up for it, I think. I'll consider Clash of Kings but I have first a lot of other books I really want to read and who knows maybe I get lucky and a book I am planning on reading may have my Q location.

By the way, this might help too: http://www.librarything.com/commonkno...
Use the search function on the top right: select important places and type in a place name. I tried just typing 'q' or 'qu', which unfortunately doesn't work, but with a few better known places or words like 'queen' you should be able to find some options.

I often don't remember locations either, although for this challenge I sometimes remember to make a note of locations with the unusual letters. Most of the time I use LibraryThing's Common Knowledge feature - you can get a list of important places on a book's profile page. It usually won't work for obscure books, but for the better-known ones it's great.
I used your site, Lauren. the libararything one and I found a book with a Q location and that is also a book I can use for TDRC I might even be able to use it for the mishmash challenge depending on what is considered shocking. All I now have to do is buy it and read it. Thanks you!
Yeah, found my q location totally by accident but it is in the book and they even spend a lot of time there so it counts. Yippie! That means I have completed the location challenge.
I'm totally forgetting about all these challenges going on...
You do have a personal thread right?
In your first post in that thread you should put a list of all the challenges you're participating in. Then when you do an update you can just work through the list and don't forget one. That is what I do and of course you don't have to participate in every last one of them. Just pick the ones you think you can complete or you really like and forget about the rest.

Thanks Barbara... My thing is I keep forgetting to add the books to the challenges I've read... I even forget to add them to my Read list sometimes lol

That's why when I have finished a book I put it next to my computer so when I sit down to do something on the computer I see that book and am reminded to update and normally I wait till I have three before I update because I have to go through so many lists and then I can't forget anything. Maybe it is a system that you can use too.
Why but? If you have an X-location use it. It makes it more fun if you can finish it with 26 but it is very hard.
Congrats!
Congrats!

It is quite tough; I just got lucky with this X, and it's not exactly an easy option for others, as the book is 1044 pages long!
So you have finished another task for the diabolical as well! Nice going!
It is just the X that is hard, but like I said before the Q isn't a walk in the park either. But it is fun if you can find one.
