I am really enjoying them - and Sans is a hoot! She is a couple decades younger than me and teaching me the current vernacular, which is improving my reviews, LOL! I guess we are cracking the monitors up. Impressive, huh?

Lina | 5563 comments This isn't really a "what I'm currently reading" post, but not sure where else to put it and wanted to share...

I've just managed to buy all of Julia Quinn's backlist on ebooks (yaay) and am updating my Calibre (ebook database), to make sure they're in the right format for my eReader. Anywho... I've only just noticed that in EVERY SINGLE BOOK there is a little dedication "For Paul, even though..." finished by something amusing. Just thought this was cute... Had anyone else ever noticed it?

Megan | 1285 comments Okay, so I've started Something Borrowed (Darcy & Rachel, #1) by Emily Giffin in hopes it will get me out of my reading slump

I thought it was going to take you all month to read. Did you call in sick? You naughty girl!

message 259: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicasey) It is huge! I can't believe you read it already. I keep staring at it thinking, "Hmm, maybe I should start with something a little smaller?" Then I argue with myself, because getting the bigger one done first sounds good. The result? I read nothing for 4 days, end up buying a New Release from the store, and reading that. Sigh!

LOL! That's what I normally end up doing, but this one was so good in my opinion, that I could hardly put it down.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Just finished 204 Rosewood Lane (Cedar Cove, #2) by Debbie Macomber as a "buddy read" and it was fun. Link to my review.

Still reading Magic Study (Study, #2) by Maria V. Snyder as a "buddy read" - and it is still good!

message 264: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Just started The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins .

Awesome-ness! I know not a real world, but...oh well. It's encouraging (the book being so good, not the making up of words).

I hope you enjoy that series Lisa! I loved the first three, but I'm a little disappointed with the most recent two.

Megan | 1285 comments Okay, after reading Something Borrowed (Darcy & Rachel, #1) by Emily Giffin AND seeing the movie, I can't help but start Something Blue (Darcy & Rachel, #2) by Emily Giffin next

message 273: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1285 comments I read them, so I don't know how the reader is on the audio

message 274: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Megan, I'll post my GR friend, Christine S.'s (one of our group members) comment to my review:
"I do love the narration, but it did take me a little while to get used to her rendition of Bones... it's a bit high, sort of a cross between Oliver Twist & Sharon Osbourne, lol! But for me, I enjoyed the books so much it was easy to get past Bones' voice."
This holds true for me. I would have preferred two narrators (male and female); but the book is good enough to get past it. The narrator does a great job, otherwise. Good infection, humor, etc. I think she is perfect for Cat. Sounds young!

The mom sort of sounded like she had a bit of a Minnesota accent, like she was challenging Frances McDormand from Fargo, LOL!

Luckily, I could download them from my library! I wanted to check them out b/f I committed.

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

message 275: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1285 comments I'm glad you are enjoying it so far Lisa. It's always nice when there is both a male & female narrator, but know it's not always possible. That's nice that you could try it out from the library!

message 276: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore | 3220 comments I just finished Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) by Jeaniene Frost , and I have no idea what to start on next. Part of me wants to read a book with normal people, and another part of me wants to stick with the paranormal. Maybe a good werewolf novel is what I need....

message 277: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Michelle, snap! I've just finished reading that too, last night! I thought it was good considering it's a 4th in the series... and there was no way it was going to be as good as the third, man that was a tear jerker!

Still on Hunger Games, it just managed to suck me in today.

Wow! I wish I knew you were reading it. I would've liked to chat about a few things along the way! Hunger Games is really good, so I'm hoping you'll be sucked in to that one too.

message 279: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore | 3220 comments Ok, in the end the normal people won out. I'm starting The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann .

message 280: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments I'd be keen to do a buddy read, am finding myself at a loss for my next read... I can't seem to get into either of my next two challenge books for this month. I'm in the mood for a contemporary romance or a PR romance. Anyone interested?

Lisa Kay, thank you, you're a legend!
Definitely count me in, this is in my TBR shelf and I own it on ebook so all good to go. What else do I need to know?
Yaaay :-)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Carol, Just to let you know, this is an in-depth "buddy read" and we'll be reading three chapters a night. (Hope this isn't too slow for you.) We will take turns posting questions each night; we all post our answers every night.

We really aren't that ridgid as Sans and I both get migraines, so we understand if the other is ill. Here is the link: Pleasure Unbound Buddy Read. Also, the language gets a little raw; to be expected with this type of book.

Sounds Good Lisa :-) I've never done a set number of chapters a night before, it'll be interesting to see how much more of an insight you get into the book when you get more time to ponder between the story.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Great, CaroB. (Sorry I misspelled your name above! Those little typing fingers have a mind of their own sometimes, LOL!) BTW, saw your post to your profile page.

Did you get a chance to check out our other "buddy read" on Magic Study to see how the questions are posted and answered? I think I posted it somewhere when you asked about "buddy reads" on another thread. Here is the link again: Buddy Read for Magic Study.

message 292: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments I really liked it! The characters were good, likable, the love story was touching, I even got watery eyes for a minute towards the end. I'm most definitely going to be looking for more books by Samantha James. :)
