I'll have to remember not to add more than one first-in-a-series book for my challenges from now on... d'oh! I finished
yesterday afternoon from my April challenge here and was left wanting to read #2 in the series. So I just started
, hoping it'll be good enough to suck me into the plot and make me forget the psy/changelings for a little while...

Michelle, I'm going to try and get through my other challenge books as quickly as I can so I can read the rest of this series. Have you read her Guild Hunter series? Is that as good?
CaroB wrote: "Michelle, I'm going to try and get through my other challenge books as quickly as I can so I can read the rest of this series. Have you read her Guild Hunter series? Is that as good?"I haven't read the Guild Hunter series yet, but I'd like too. I've heard good things about it. I'm only up to book 4 in the Psy series, but that's one of the series I'd like to catch up on. I think there's a total of 9 books out so far.
I just finished reading
- the best book ever! Now, I'm not sure whether I should stick with the series for my next book, or something else. Hmmm.....
Michelle, I'm currently reading
and am almost done. Was dreaming about what I would write in my review. LOL! Lost it for about 1 1/2 hours last night and had to pick up something else. Found it in the laundry room; now how did it get there? I haven't done laundry in more than a week! Maybe it floated there! WOOahhhaaa!

Michelle wrote: "I'm reading

I'm in something of a slump right now. I finished up a couple of cozies and have started
. Hopefully I'll get back to the TBR tomorrow.
Sandra J wrote: "I'm in something of a slump right now. I finished up a couple of cozies and have started

I am finishing up
and then after that on to
. Just got a bunch of stuff from the library though, spring break next week, hope the kids give me a few minutes to read! Got a bunch of cookbooks too - just love to read those sometimes.
Kit★, Loved Jocelyn Kelley's Knight series about women knights. Currently reading
and loving it.Also trying something new and reading and listening to
and let me tell you, that first kiss is a doosey!
Lisa Kay wrote: "Kit★, Loved Jocelyn Kelley's Knight series about women knights."They sound good! I love medievals... wish I had more of them lol.
It is the Tudor period, Elizabethan era (1558 – 1603), to be more exact. It’s a swashbuckler!! Arrrrh, matey! ☠ Dead men tell no tales!
Okay, I'm reading SOOOO slow this month. I got another cold from my son, and my husband getting 16 stitches due to an accident at his hockey game (on his leg above his knee) didn't help. I'm slowly trying to finish the April Challenge. Not sure I will though. My plan is to start To Tame a Highland Warrior next.
Megan wrote: "Okay, I'm reading SOOOO slow this month. I got another cold from my son, and my husband getting 16 stitches due to an accident at his hockey game (on his leg above his knee) didn't help. I'm slow..."Megan, I hope your family is all better soon!
I'm in the same boat, very slow going this week where reading is concerened. 2 uni assessments, 2 separate free tickets to the theater (after 9 years since my last theater visit there was no way I was passing those babies up, assessment week or no!!), a roof renovation on our home (it's looking great now!), the kids on school holidays (in Australia) and a back spasming (just icing on the cake), I'm feeling exhausted and feeling more like a sleep than a read... this April challenge here is the first one I've ever entered into, so I'm determined to finish it... but not this week, lol! :-) I've been picking up and putting down
...BTW, Lisa, I'm loving all your little emoticons!

Some months are just busy, obviously like yours- LOL! Glad the roof renovation went well, those can be such a pain! Good luck on finishing your first challenge! This might be my first failure! (But I'll try not to think of it like that!)
Lisa Kay wrote: "Megan, I hope you and yours felt 110% soon!"
Thanks Lisa! You are so sweet. I'm just glad my hubby is up and around and able to help out with our son and around the house again! LOL!
Currently reading
and loving it!You can't go wrong with Julia Quinn! Next up is something by Eloisa James, got several books but have to see what grabs me when the time comes!
@Kristi: I wasn't a big fan of that particular book:-( There were a few moments when she made me laugh out loud, especially the pink peg scene(!), it WAS funny... I just couldn't get hooked into the book. Is there another one of hers you'd recommend? I've just finished off a Jennifer Crusie which I really liked and I've loved the Stephanie Bond books for humour as well.
Hmmm, it looks like I've only got 2 of them marked on my shelves. The one that's rated high is Don't Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes. I think it's the same characters, but I'm not really sure.
Humor...hmmm...well I see you've started the Stephanie Plum series, so can't recommend that. Have you tried Rachel Gibson? Some of her have a good chuckle or two. I agree with Crusie and Bond. Hmmm, now you've got me thinking.
Heather Webber has a series out, 3 books so far, I've found fun and humorous. Haywood Smith's Red Hat books are funny, though they're not a romance. I highly recommend them.
Kristi, thanks so much for the recommendations! I've not heard of Heather Webber or Haywood Smith so will have to check them out. I haven't started the Stephanie Plum books yet, though i think they might be in my wish-list of books I'd like to get. I quite liked Stephanie Bond's Body Movers series.. just waiting for #7.
No problem. I love getting recommendations, but hardly ever give them, unless asked. Oh, I thought I saw them on your shelf. Well, if you haven't started them yet, you'll love them. Though Plum is the main character, many say Gramma Mazur is the funniest. Though I have to say Plum and Lulu are great too.
Do you know if there's a date for Body Mover's #7? *Quivering with anticipation*
I finally finished reading The Smoke Thief, which I really enjoyed. I'm straying off of my intended monthly reading list, as usual. I'm working on
. As much as I love shifter stories, I'm missing my vampires.
Kristi - Just had a look at the Stephanie Bond website and it says: "BREAKING NEWS: THE BODY MOVERS SERIES HAS BEEN OPTIONED BY SONY PICTURES TELEVISION FOR TV SERIES DEVELOPMENT! CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES!"Also, down the bottom of that page it says:
"Q: How many books will be in the Body Movers series?
A: As of this date, there are 6 Body Movers books in print, with 2 more contracted. (The release dates of books 7 and 8 will depend on the timing of the airing of a pilot for the possible TV series.)"
So it seems it could still be a while...
Michelle, I absolutely love Cat & Bones!!! Let me know what you think of that book, that was the last of the series I read, and seeing to here now reminded me I'll have to get the rest of the series up-to-date.
CaroB wrote: "Michelle, I absolutely love Cat & Bones!!! Let me know what you think of that book, that was the last of the series I read, and seeing to here now reminded me I'll have to get the rest of the serie..."Will do!
CaroB wrote: "Michelle, I absolutely love Cat & Bones!!! Let me know what you think of that book, that was the last of the series I read, and seeing to here now reminded me I'll have to get the rest of the serie..."I agree. Great series!
Just finished
and it was a 5 star for me - very emotional, very funny - not really straight romance. Now reading a historical -
- totally different, because after a 5 star contemp-romantic comedy, one doesn't want exactly the same thing, you know? After that, I may plug away on my biography of the queen mum. Like all of you, reading very slowly this month (must be Idol/Dnacing with the Stars and countless NCIS marathons).
So I've finished reading
, which I think is the best one in the series so far. I'm debating on whether or not to move on to the next Night Huntress book or something else.
I'm reading book #7 in the Psy-Changeling series. So glad I got them all at once so I can keep it going...
I am currently listening to
- also doing a "buddy read" with it.I am also reading
- and also doing a "buddy read" with it.
A "buddy read" is when one or more persons agree to read a book with you. I have been in a couple now and they are fun. There are really no set rules, everyone just comes to an agreement on the terms. Sometimes this happens a month or two after a book was the groups' BOM, but people missed out (and the thread archived). Or maybe a book didn't get enough votes for BOM.I have been in one with just one person, and we agreed to read a certain number of chapters a day. In another there were 15 (I think) of us and we tried to read at a certain speed, but some read ahead and some fell behind. It is all good. It takes a little work/communication to make sure everyone has their copy of the book ready.
You can certainly PM each other, but I think it is more convenient - and fun - to set up a folder/thread where you can post comments. (In most groups, a new folder has to be set up by a group monitor.)
In my one-on-one with my friend Sans, we traded off posting questions each day to one another. Here is the link to that one: Poison Study With Sans. As you can, see a couple people popped in (the monitor always does) and one asked to be a third member for a book we will read in June.
In the larger group (where some were ahead/some behind/some already read the book), we promised to not devulge any spoilers until certain set dates. Here is the link to that one: Across A Moonlit Sea-Buddy Read. There you will see the author actually agreed to do a Q&A.
Hope this helps; LMK if you have more questions. ☺
