Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Great, Susan! Are you going to read or listen?

message 857: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments What would you suggest? I typically read cause if I listen, I end up doing other things and dividing my attention LOL

It is. And I'm not saying that just because of the pretty cover.

message 862: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments I've been on a writing jag lately, and when I get in that frame of mind I don't do anything else: read, watch tv, eat, sleep, LOL. But I'm happy to say my manuscript is finished and submitted. YAY! Which means I'm back in the land of the living and just picked up The Reluctant Vampire (Argeneau, #15) by Lynsay Sands I'm a big fan of Lynsay Sands Argeneau series but haven't read one in a while, looking forward to it!

message 863: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cawils_99) Finished No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole and I really enjoy this series. Now onto another good series Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate, #4) by Gail Carriger .

So very happy that we interested you enough to pick up this series. I've only ever listened to the series as, like Lisa Kay said, so well narrated. I think the narrator brings the series to life and makes me like the series more than I would if I read them. But either way, you'll want a Roarke all for your own!

message 865: by Lina (last edited Dec 02, 2011 02:02PM) (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Just finished Midnight (Dark Age Dawning, #2) by Ellen Connor , a good 2nd-in-series, I thought.

Also reading Blood Rights (House of Comarré, #1) by Kristen Painter , which I'm really enojoying and so far goes into the awesomesauce category and Once a Cowboy (Harlequin American Romance) by Linda Warren which I can't get into and am struggling with motivation to finish it. Not quite craptastic, but the writing feels disjointed.

message 866: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Loving your terminology CaroB! "awesomesauce" and "craptastic"... LMAO!

message 867: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Just finished A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant It was a very different Regency romance. I loved it! Now, to read Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh . Gotta catch up on that for our group read :)

message 868: by Lina (last edited Dec 02, 2011 03:27PM) (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Awesomesauce isn't mine, I got it from the Smart Bitches blog Tracey, and have seen it on facebook for a while and more recently here on GR. It always makes me smile, so thought I'd take it on :-) Not sure where I got craptastic from, possibly Smart Bitches blog also. Funny stuff on there sometimes.

I'm thinking of adding 2 new shelves with those names, Tracey :-) Whaddaya think?

message 869: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I'm reading Starcrossed Perigee (Starcrossed, #1) by Tracey Lee Campbell .

Gosh, Carolyn! You find the neatest, most unique books.

message 872: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. It's "Sci-Fi Romance" December BOM. Michelle's the moderator there too.

message 873: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments I think that's a fantastic idea CaroB!

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Soooo, I found Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb in audio at the library. In cassette form. And in case you aren't my GR friend and didn't read my update, I DO NOT have a cassette player ROFLOL Why didn't I realize we got rid of all the cassette players in our house? My car doesn't even have one! All this means is that I can chunk all the cassettes that my Hubs has in the laundry room from the 80s :) I've called several friends to see if they have one. Maybe I can scrounge one up at church.

message 875: by Carolyn F. (last edited Dec 03, 2011 01:19PM) (new)

Carolyn F. Or a thrift store Susan, that's where I found one.

message 876: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I didn't even think about a thrift store! Thank you for that suggestion, Carolyn :)

message 877: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Your welcome Susan!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Susan (susayq) wrote: "I DO NOT have a cassette player ROFLOL ..."

ROFL - too! You're killing me, Susan. I remember going to the music store with my husband one day and all the cassettes were gone, just GONE! I was like, "Huh?" It was like they were outlawed or something.

message 879: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I'm really stressing about not having one LOL Walmart had one on one of those boom box radio things (yes, that kind of shows my age with me calling it a boom box) but they were $45 and I'm not paying that just to listen to a book, cause I'll probably never use it again LOL

message 880: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments You would think the library would have one you could borrow, if they still have the cassettes to check out... wouldn't you?

message 881: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments HAHA You would think so, Lisa Kay,but I didn't even ask. I did however get my hands on one. I am loving the accent for Roarke and the story is wonderful. I'll be honest though, I'm going to have to get the book and read it. I don't find that I catch the details listening :)

message 882: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Picked up Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs . Just wanna hug Anna!

I'm the same Susan. I miss so much with an audio book! Maybe there's just too much going on at my house that I'm used to be on the lookout listen-out for trouble so I don't concentrate as well.

message 884: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments CaroB, there is definitely too much going on here, I have 3 daughters that still live at home (ages 15, 12, 10), 1 daughter who comes home sporadically (turned 19 yesterday!), and I try to multitask when listening. Definitely not concentrating like when I have it in my hands.

message 885: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Mine are 2, 5 and 7. I'm still trying to learn how to listen out for the thumps and bangs that could mean someone's hurt, and tune out of the (thankfully infrequent) fights that could mean I'm going to hurt someone.(j/k)

message 886: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments bwwaahahaha, I know exactly how that feels! Just wait till the reach that double digit age - preteens *shiver* they're soooo dramatic and my girls don't seem to know how to talk quietly. It seems like the scream constantly.

message 895: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I should be caught up by then, so I'll be game for that. Half way through the first one now. These two need a moderator to talk. lol

message 896: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Forgot how much I loved the Argeneau series! Halfway through The Reluctant Vampire (Argeneau, #15) by Lynsay Sands and don't want to put it down. I just love Lynsay Sands writing style. She is awesome! And it's so much fun to try to remember all the other life-mate couples that I've read about in the other books as they come in and out of this story. If you haven't read Lynsay Sands Argeneau series I would highly recommend :)

And no, I'm not having trouble with notifications that I've noticed.
