Sandra | 25908 comments Reading Mark of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #1) by Diana Rowland and really enjoying it. Haven't gone back to Dark Time (Mortal Path, #1) by Dakota Banks yet, it seems easy to put down.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I'm really enjoying Black Blade Blues (Sarah Beauhall #1) by J.A. Pitts
Looks like it'll be a good solid **** at least! Well, unless the last 50 pages tank. I can see why some might not enjoy it. Sarah is gay and in her first relationship. Lots of guilt from dear old Dad, small town upbringing, etc. Makes for a rocky road. Small amount of kissing, touching, etc., but nothing terribly graphic. I'm really loving the Norse Gods, 6 foot tall dwarves, ogres, and giants. Refreshing after so many vampires and weres.

Vi | 943 comments I just finished One Salt Sea (October Daye #5) by Seanan McGuire and really sad the next book is 1 year away.

I'm also reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender which currently doesn't seem to be going anywhere despite the promising premise.

Lis | 4037 comments So jealous Sandra, I haven't picked up SERPENT's KISS yet so I am reading The Red Heart of Jade by Marjorie M. Liu for bingo. Also finished Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels, #1) by Keri Arthur which was a great start to a new series thats a 25 yr flash forward from where her Riley Jensen series left off. But I'm a big Keri Arthur fan...

message 1860: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Serpent's Kiss is going great.

Ooohhhh, new cover for The Red Heart of Jade by Marjorie M. Liu and I've got Darkness Unbound but haven't got to it yet, glad you liked it.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Kerstin wrote: "Finished Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson and absolutely loved it!"

Yay!

Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano was quite good. Many sensitive issues addressed. Trial by Fire (Raised by Wolves, #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes wasn't as good as its predecessor, a bit boring.

Virals by Kathy Reichs was nerdilicious. This is REAL science fiction. By the author who wrote the books which were adapted into Bones tv series. It's Bones crossed with The Big Bang Theory.

I just plowed through the series as well the last few days. I had a hard time at first really liking the first book but I got hooked. Now we must wait until May next year for Andrea's book and 2013 for the next Kate book, very annoying.

Sandra | 25908 comments I agree Megan, but I'd rather they be good than just quick ;)

message 1869: by Josie (last edited Oct 14, 2011 04:01PM) (new)

Josie | 1967 comments It seems quite a popular one lately Ames, hope you like it :)

I've finished Something Secret This Way Comes (Secret McQueen #1) by Sierra Dean and going onto A Bloody Good Secret (Secret McQueen, #2) by Sierra Dean - what a great name!

I'm still chugging through Covet and I also picked up Iron Crowned from the library a week or so ago but just cba to read it. I mean, I know it's going to p*ss me off, right? So, why put myself through it?

Sandra | 25908 comments Loved Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione and have gone back to Dark Time (Mortal Path, #1) by Dakota Banks

It is much better now I've passed all the set up world building, in fact it is very dark....

message 1873: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading:

Lord of the Wolfyn (Royal House of Shadows, #3) (Harlequin Nocturne, #123) by Jessica Andersen -because I'm reviewing this series for my blog &

Collide by Megan Hart -to balance out the suckitude of LotW. And because I have zero self-restraint. o_O

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Lethal - I'm jealous! I love Megan Hart, but don't have Collide yet......

Reading Autumn by David Moody now. Trying to locate Angel Lust An Erotic Novel of Time Travel by Perry Brass to read for Bingo. It's supposed to be here somewhere...... If I can't find it I guess I'll probably read Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand next. SIGH.....I'm really in the mood for erotic angels, not wimpy YA angels......

message 1875: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments @ Cindy: Don't be! I didn't have it until last night either. But at $6.29 in ebook, I could resist no longer. Hart is one of the only authors I've become a rabid fangirl for. I would wash in her old bathwater if she'd let me. O_O

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments LOL Lethal.....I know what you mean! I still have a couple of hers here to read. Heck, I could have sent you my copy of the Lacey Alexander book you got. I don't read much contemporary erotica (unless it is also PnR) and that one has just been sitting here waiting for it's chance to be read for about 3 years..... I do like Cathryn Fox for cute, quick, almost chick-lit erotica. Her PnR's are great too!

message 1877: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments ^_^ The Alexander book has been on my TBR for a long time, too. The only reason I bought it was because it was $4 used. And I'm pretty much the same way about Contempt ER. I DO enjoy them but they're almost always in trade pb & I can't always afford that.

As for Cathryn Fox, have you read Sun Stroked by Cathryn Fox ? I started it last year, put it down & haven't felt the urge to pick it back up yet. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of novellas. Are any of her full-length books any good?

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I love the Eternal Pleasure series. The first one is Instinctive (Eternal Pleasure, #1) by Cathryn Fox . I also got a kick out of Pleasure Exchange (Avon Red) by Cathryn Fox Very fun, light read. Have a bag of oranges handy!

message 1879: by Desperado (last edited Oct 16, 2011 06:02PM) (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Thank you very much for the recs, Cindy! I'll definitely add them to my TBR. I'm almost always willing to give an author a second chance to take my money. ^_^

message 1880: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Finished Dark Time (Mortal Path, #1) by Dakota Banks and gave it 4.5★, definitely worth reading if you want some dark demon action. Mind you, the beginning was slow so just take that into account.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Thanks Sandra! I have that one and Sacrifice (Mortal Path, #2) by Dakota Banks both TBR.....must find a way to move them up!

message 1882: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, I've got Sacrifice (Mortal Path #2) by Dakota Banks too :) & ditto on moving it up the list.

message 1883: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I DNF'd Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne . It was just not readable which is ironic because I finished and enjoyed Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young which contains no speech marks and doesn't follow the proper rules of spelling, punctuation and grammar, and yet it was an easy read.

Next up: Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting

message 1884: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Ames that is interesting! I have heard mostly good things about Hounded, but one of my friends gave it a negative review.

message 1885: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am reading: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin Down These Strange Streets by George R.R. Martin Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor and listening to Haunted (Women of the Otherworld, #5) by Kelley Armstrong This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost

message 1886: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Interesting Ames, I enjoyed it but I can certainly see it won't be to everyone's taste. Very definitely written by a bloke.

message 1887: by Casey (new)

Casey | 1 comments I've just finished reading The Last Pure Human ...again... and am waiting patiently for the next chapter.

Not very patiently at all actually :P

message 1888: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments @Ames: I'm reading Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young next so I'm happy it was an easy read for you. By reading the back and flicking through the pages, it kind of reminds me of the 'Chaos Walking' trilogy by Patrick Ness, regarding the writing style.

@Regina: I'm so excited to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor , I got an email from the library saying it's available! Yipee!

I finished The Glass Man (A Lila Gray Novel, #1) by Jocelyn Adams - such a cool book name! I went into it without properly reading the synopsis and so was a little disappointed it was a fae book but it was pretty awesome anyway and will definitely be reading the next one :)

message 1889: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Josie I am too!! I have heard mainly really good things. I am hoping it grabs me right away. :)
