D.G. | 2752 comments Blaze of Memory is definitely not the best of the series although I know a few people who loved it.

I'm reading Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian and Hot Head (Head #1) by Damon Suede .

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thanks Josie. I can't stop thinking about it!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Yesterday while waiting for the library to open I started Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane then I read Birthmarked (Birthmarked #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien which was okay. I liked it but didn't love it.

Now reading Trial by Fire (Raised by Wolves, #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

message 1804: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments So I decided not to read Heat Stroke. I am reading Banished (Banished, #1) by Sophie Littlefield because I loved her Aftertime series. I am giving out Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast by audio, but I am not liking it so far.

Mafi | 63 comments I'm reading Ceremony in Death (In Death, #5) by J.D. Robb by J.D. Robb

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading: Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane Die for Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum

I'm only 100 pages into "Die for Me" & I already feel like telling this book to kick rocks. Why is it so damn difficult for authors to know the difference between a young & naive heroine & one who is so freaking stupid & immature, the reader wants to push her down a well?

message 1807: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I'm halfway through Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis . I fell in love immediately but now we seem to have veered off course and are going places I have no interest in, plus I'm trying not to criticize something fundamental to the whole book.

message 1808: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Ames, I liked the premise of this one but it did get a lot of less than stellar reviews. Good luck :)

message 1809: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) Have you ever read a book that is like reading a B rated movie on SciFi?

Now reading DemonFire (DemonSlayers #1) by Kate Douglas and that is what it feels like but oddly I like it :-)

This week's reading is Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine for Bingo, One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost for challenge.
Doing a re-listen to Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh on audio.

up next The Nine Lives of Chloe King (Nine Lives of Chloe King, #1-3) by Liz Braswell

message 1814: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Lis I was suprprised to enjoy Ill Wind, I read it for bingo I few weeks back. Will you be moving on to #2 in the disillusionist serires?

I am reading A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole for bingo. And I am torn, I am seriously bothered by the set up -- the kidnapping and the forcing of situations. It really disgusts me, as does her softening toward him. But at the same time I can't put the damned book down! I rarely like PNR, most times I don't finish it but I am liking this one. I think I am going to read The First Days (As The World Dies A Zombie Trilogy #1) by Rhiannon Frater as soon as I finish Hunger, which will probably be tonight. I was going to save First Days for Bingo in case we got a trilogy shelf, but I don't want to wait.

message 1815: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Regina, that's exactly how I felt about A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole but I still gave it 4 stars. I hope you like The First Days.

I really liked ILL WIND, I couldn't put it down... So I started the work week pretty tired, but finished it up today. I really want to move on to the next one along with DOUBLE CROSS but too many challenge books left to read this week.

message 1817: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I really enjoyed Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne I finished it yesterday, but found myself thinking about that world today, sooooo that means it was pretty good. LOL

And like Lis, I'd like to be reading #2, but I have too many challenge books to finish off first.

If you haven't read it yet. Go read it. Go read it now.

message 1820: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Woo, I've read it! I really liked it, such a genre shift in the middle but why not? For me, it worked. Glad you loved it (I think) ;)

message 1821: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Yep, I loved it! I agree about the genre shift, I wasn't sure about it at first but it kinda worked.

message 1822: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Same but I do have to admit that I loved the first half of the book before the switch more than the second.

message 1823: by Literary Ames (last edited Sep 27, 2011 03:40PM) (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Ditto, Josie, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment.

message 1824: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Mine either :)

I've just finished The Tale of the Vampire Bride by Rhiannon Frater and bought the next one so I must've liked it. Although I found it amusing when Amazon asked if I wanted to "share my purchase on FB, Twitter etc". What?? Why on earth would I want everyone to know how out-of-control my book-buying is? I found it very strange lol ;)

message 1825: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I liked that one, too. Another marketing ploy. I would hope you'd get commission for the ad space on your feed. Soon we'll be sharing the contents of our bowels with our friends. There is such a thing as over-sharing. I wonder when the word "privacy" will disappear from dictionaries.

message 1829: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments Currently reading Vengeance in Death (In Death, #6) by J.D. Robb and loving it. After I finish it, I'll move on to Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews , a series I've heard so much about, but just haven't had a chance to read yet.

message 1830: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Just finished The Vengeance of the Vampire Bride by Rhiannon Frater . I liked it but not sure if I liked it as much as the previous one, maybe because it was a lighter read and less gothic. I'm definitely reading the next one when it comes out though. Now Vlad, there's a proper vampire - in fact The Tale of the Vampire Bride is what I would class as a proper vampire book in general. I'm recommending them to Fictfact since the series isn't on there yet.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2) by Pamela Clare - wonderful read. 5 Stars.

message 1833: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I'm reading Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver Clouds of Witness (Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries, #2) by Dorothy L. Sayers .

The first one is going really well...the second, I'm having some problems with the narration but it's going well too.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading: The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa The Darkest Secret (Lords of the Underworld, #7) by Gena Showalter

Why would I start another YA book after DNF'ing Die for Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum only 100 pages in? Well, I've come to the startling realization that I'm a raging book masochist.

message 1836: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments ROFLMAO!

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments LOL Lethal!

Well - I just finished 2 books from the "other" spectrum. The Initiation of Pb500 (Pb500, #1) by Kyle Stone and The Citadel (Pb500, #2) by Kyle Stone . Both are pretty hardcore BDSM, but The Citadel makes the first one look like a walk in the park. Kinda glad it's just a duology.

Just started Crimson Moon (Crimson Trilogy, #1) by J.A. Saare .

message 1838: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Temporarily stopped Dark Time (Mortal Path, #1) by Dakota Banks as I thought I better read my Bingo book first, so I've started Kitty Raises Hell (Kitty Norville, #6) by Carrie Vaughn and I'm really enjoying it.

message 1839: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments In just a few short days, I've become completely obsessed with the Kate Daniels series. Now reading Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews . If I wasn't completely swamped at work, I'd be taking the day off so I could just read as much as I want. :)

message 1840: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Still reading Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane and listening to Santa Olivia (Santa Olivia, #1) by Jacqueline Carey , but I'm getting impatient so might move to the book version.

Finished Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee and wow, it was really good. Only downside is the wait for book #2.

message 1841: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Vivian I have had Carey's book on my sbelf for awhile. Cant wait to see what you think.

message 1842: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I just finished Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, #2) by C.L. Wilson which I loved and have started on Killing Rocks (The Bloodhound Files #3) by D.D. Barant which seems to be my favourite of the series so far.

message 1843: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Finished Heat Stroke (Weather Warden, #2) by Rachel Caine for this week's challenges & really liking this series so far.
Currently reading Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane and put One Grave at a Time A Night Huntress Novel by Jeaniene Frost on hold. Just can't get into it which is sad since I'm a big Cat and Bones fan :(
Also finished Spider’s Revenge (Elemental Assassin, #5) by Jennifer Estep and listening to City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare on audio.

message 1844: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Next up is Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano . I've been meaning to start it for a week now but it's so damn big. I've been spoiled and I'm now too lazy for this trade paperback which feels massive and unwieldy after mass markets and my Kindle.

@Lis, how was Spider’s Revenge (Elemental Assassin, #5) by Jennifer Estep for you? Although I liked the end of Mab and her self-fulfilling prophecy, I was disappointed by all the repetition which I'm tired of. Not sure if I'll read the next one.

message 1845: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments @Amy - You could almost catch up with all the summaries of the previous books and not have to read them. I agree, the repetition is tiring but I still like the series and the characters. This one almost felt like a wrap up, are there more planned?

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Reading Black Blade Blues (Sarah Beauhall #1) by J.A. Pitts and enjoying it quite a bit! I'd heard mixed reviews on it, so kept pushing it to the side. But, I got Honeyed Words (Sarah Beauhall #2) by J.A. Pitts from PBS last week, so really need to finish it before I send it along to it's new home.

By a Thread (Elemental Assassin, #6) by Jennifer Estep and Untitled is listed on GR db.

message 1848: by Vivian (last edited Oct 05, 2011 11:46PM) (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Finished Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires, #1) by Rachel Caine Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane and Room by Emma Donoghue . Double Cross was the best of those, but was really only exciting in the last quarter.

Going back to Santa Olivia (Santa Olivia, #1) by Jacqueline Carey . It's engaging when I'm listening to it, but I don't have a problem putting it down for days at a time.

Next up: Spider’s Revenge (Elemental Assassin, #5) by Jennifer Estep and maybe One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost , but I've been putting that one off since the reviews have been so lackluster.

Oh, and I think Estep is planning on 7 EA books for now. Not sure if that will change in the future.

message 1849: by Lis (last edited Oct 06, 2011 03:41AM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Thanks Sandra & Vivian thats good news... and it sounds like we get to spend time away from the "Pork Pit" in the next one.

I'm moving on to Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels, #1) by Keri Arthur and getting some tidbits as to what Riley and all has been doing for the last 25 years...

message 1850: by D.G. (new)
