It's definitely PNR which I prefer to UF so it works for me. I like the characters, and the plot makes sense. The Big Bad actually has a reason for his actions that is awful but perfectly logical. I'm not too sure about that cover though.
Yesterday I read
which all focused on a side character who appeared in Criss Cross. I accidently read the first line of
and I really want to continue reading but I need to read
before the new one comes out.
@ Ames -- I hate guessing the villain, although I did guess the villain in #1 too. @ Lethal -- that is good to know. I look at the book and WANT to read it, but I hate when the characters are so damned perfect.
@ Sandra -- Roarke is perfect, amazing -- and rich! #3 was the last one I "read" (I listened to the audio) in that series.
@ Regina: Likewise. It's a good thing I didn't actually buy this book or I would've been pissed to waste $10 on a mediocre book with an amazing cover.Currently Reading:
Maybe Read:
I loved the Iron Duke. Very very strong world building, I got bored with all the political intrigue -- but despite that the world, the characters and the very hot romance carried to for me.
I'm reading
and pleasantly surprised. Hoping the story continues to be as interesting as the first 40% or so.

I've just finished
. It was terrific, and a rec or a challenge book from someone on here, so thank you unknown benefactor! Can't recommend it enough.

Jackie, if you loved
,
is even better, imho. I'm really gonna read
soon, a lot of fans in this group.

Yay! I'm a bit mournful that it's such a new book and we're going to have to wait for ages for the next one but ahh the anticipation..
Now reading
. Not sure about it.

Ooo interesting, I may have to try that :)I'm reading
which I am enjoying but not much focus on the main characters. Tbh very little of the book is about Fury and Cormia so I feel like I don't really know them properly like the others in the series, which I'm guessing is part of the reason that a lot of people feel Fury isn't one of their favourite brothers :(
Josie, I read that one earlier this month, and whilst Phury isn't my fav I still gave it 4 stars. So keep going, cause you learn a lot about others.
Just finished
, I'm so sad that I've finished this last book of the series and that there are more Mercy and Adam, yet...*sigh*I can't decide what to read next. I picked up
but it doesn't feel like it's the right moment, so maybe I'll read bit of Sookie (#2) for a change.
Gave up on Spellcrackers.com. Might revisit when I run out of other things to read. Have started
. Was very UF at the start, and halfway through started to feel like a PNR. Good so far.

Moss, that series "The Dark Forgotten" is a dark PNR. It has dark UF elements, but each book has a HEA. I've really enjoyed that series, hope you do too!
Currently Reading:
(Because I love me some Meljean Brook) &
(Because I love me some naked cowboys who like to give it to you dirty & rough). At least in my fantasies. Cowboys rarely look this hot in RL, what with the chewing tobacco & walking in cow shit all day.
Seriously! Eewww! LOL! I saw the cover and thought it was Myla Jackson's Bound series.
Aw, shucks, ma'am, like this...? >;)
Have you seen those shows about real people living for a week or a month back in historical times, like the Regency period or Colonial times?Well this book is a behind the scenes look at one of those reality shows
as only Katie MacAlister can. I was actually laughing at one point.
I just finished
. It was a fun, spicy read. Has anyone read her book
? Might have to grab that one too.Not sure which to read next.

No, I haven't. But, being from VA we have Colonial Williamsburg where everyone dresses up and the town is all Colonialized. LOL!
I've seen that book at the library. Haven't read it though. Not surprised that Katie got ya LOL though. She has a way of doing that. Gotta love her for it.
PS: Lemme guess - yellow cover for challenges? ;)
@ Sandra -- I am so glad to hear the Hob's Bargain is good!! I loved her other fantasy series.@ Lethal -- how are you liking Iron Duke? I really enjoyed that one.
Just finished
. A book made of yay! How have I skipped over Meljean in my meanderings through the lusty world of PNR? A situation that must be immediately rectified.
ETA:
@Steph - yep it was pretty good. The cover is pure disaster but I got over that. :)

I thought the world was incredible, I was so impressed and literally blown away. And the romance was so beautifully built up -- nice and slowly. I thought the yummy scenes were -- quite yummy. ;)
You all made me want to read "The Iron Duke" now. I'll have to bump it up on my TBR list.I just finished
and loved it and started on
.
Moss wrote: "Just finished

Kerstin wrote: "I just finished

I finished
. I want to read the next one now but my once favourite Psycop is currently in my bad books. Not sure what to read next.
Regina wrote: "@ Sandra -- I am so glad to hear the Hob's Bargain is good!! I loved her other fantasy series.@ Lethal -- how are you liking Iron Duke? I really enjoyed that one."
I just finished it & I thought it was awesomesauce. I read my 1st Steampunk novel (Soulless) this month & enjoyed it enough to where I figured, why not give my girl Brook a try? Amazing. It took me awhile to warm up to Rhys but I was in love with Mina & the Steampunk world Brook created from the beginning. Can't wait for Heart of Steel!
Lethal did you read the prequel in the anthology?Burning Up? I enjoyed that one alot too. How does Soulless compare to the Iron Duke. I loved Rhys right away. He is one of my favorite heroes.

yep yep, Mina rocked and the world building is wicked awesome. And it took me a while with Rhys too...I don't know, something about his alpha-maleness was not quite right to begin with. But I grew to love him and now he's on my Christmas list of things I want in my stocking.
Did anyone else think the Horde was aliens to begin with? I was completely on the wrong track for the first ten pages or so.

@ Regina: No. I have "Burning Up" on my TBR shelf but I've heard so many mixed opinions about some of the novellas in it that I'm waiting a bit before buying it. Maybe Brook will release her novella in ebook like Patricia Briggs did with Alpha & Omega: A Companion Novella to Cry Wolf.@ Moss: My problem with Rhys was his personality. He was very cold & heartless in the beginning, only wanting to bone Mina. But he eventually redeemed himself in my eyes. I'm looking forward to Yasmeen & Fox's story. I also hope Scarsdale gets his own HEA because I ♥ that fool!
LMAO! No, I didn't think the Horde were aliens but the way they acted, they might as well be. That was really messed what they did to the people of England.
I read Brook's novella in Burning Up and was intrigued, so I got The Iron Duke a couple of weeks ago but haven't got to it yet. Looks like I'll have to see what I can do. Bugger that I've already sorted the April Challenges.
@Ames: I wasn't quite convinced about that coupling either before I read the book. I mean a ghost and an impotent vampire? The story kept me wondering for quite a while how this was going to work, but work it did in the end. So yes, I think you should give the book a chance :)
LOL "ghost and an impotent vampire?" Now I'm intrigued.I'm reading
(about 20% into it) and liking it so far.
I only read the brooks story in burning up - no others. I checked it out from the library. I loved the Brooks story. It is meaty in terms of character development and it is a sweet romance.
Well, I actually got Burning Up for the Psy Changeling story by Nalini Singh, so MBs story was just a bonus.
I've got that one TBR soon. Got it for the same reason (Singh's story), but now looking forward to Meljean's too. :)
I think for me I wasn't up to the number for the PsyChangleing story. Phili Free has Burning Up as an ebook -- so it is easy to go back and get it.
