I think I've got that one too. And, I'm almost done my first anthology
. It's kinda like walking into a soap opera that's been on for years and trying to figure out what's going on. At least it was with the first story. 2nd one is good (Vegas Vampires, I've read some) and the rest, I'm lost again. LOL! Oh well.
I'm about half way through
I find i'm just loving this series...don't know why I waited so long to continue with it :0)

I'm almost halfway through
-my first book in Mt. TBR. It's pretty awesome for the most part. I've had this book on my shelf since before I even thought ereaders were in my future & now I am ecstatic that I have one. I would've had to pay $11.70 in DTB!
I've finally finished
. I'm so happy!! It was such hard work and if I didn't have it in a challenge, I would not have finished it. I was about 100 or so pages from the end (IT WAS 452 PAGES LONG!!!) when my sister came in and (probably because I was moaning so much) read it to me to help me out. I honestly thought she was making some of the lines up lol, they were simply ridiculous. The thing is, I'm really not a 'hater' of books, I was willing to like it. Usually I can understand, even if I don't like a book myself, why other people like it, but I really really could not with this book.Annyyywwaaayyy... I'll probably read
or
next :D
I a sorry Fallen was so painful. What great sister. I am reading
it is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy. HBO is producing a series based on this series right now. I am also about to start my re reads of Fever.
I love this! Everyone's off to a great start. Well, poor, Josie. But, what a caring Sister! :D You'll love Mockingjay.
Lol, thanks! She thinks so ;) Jk, she did really help since she changed some of the character's names and made it a little more entertaining! I am so excited about Mockingjay (although don't really want it to end!) and I think I'll enjoy the book even more after reading a not-so-good one :)
LOL! That's fun, like bedtime stories, cute. Can I borrow her?I felt the same about it, but couldn't wait any longer.
Happy New Year everyone!. For the month of Jan, I'm kicking off with
as part of my many challenges then;
and some stand alone in between. Happy Reading.
Holy moly, 2011 thread, can't believe it's a new year already!!Ok, that's out of my system.
Josie - bummer about Fallen. Torment improves quite a bit in case you were at all interested in continuing the series. I think it's a series that will grow better with each book.
Regina - I have started AGoT twice now, and I like it each time, but the length gets to me, I put it down and never pick it up again. I also don't want to get attached because I'm not sure the series is ever going to get finished. People have been waiting for book 5 for YEARS :(
Yeah, that's insane. My hubby reads (or has read some) that series. He's looking forward to the show. I posted a bit about it in the movies/TV folder a while ago. I'm sure I'll watch it with him, but don't know that I'll tackle the books.
Vivian I am worried that it will never be completed bc the author is not young. It is definitely a fatty and occasionally I am frustrated that I am not whittling down my TBR shelf for this month. But I am so in love with this book right now. Only about 35% in though.
Gosh, I realized I'm being a downer. I'm glad you're reading a book you love! I'm sure the series will get finished one day :)
Finished
& I'm stunned. I started & finished this sucker in less than 24 hrs which is rare for me. I think ereaders are making me read faster. Now on to my 2nd "Mt. TBR" book,
interspersed with a smutty novella,
.
WTG, Vivian! Cute cover. :)I'm getting back to
. I like it so far (about 30% done). My 2nd "first" of the year. January last year I read a TON of firsts, I'm hoping this year to have a better mix of firsts & continuing books. I have SO many series I want to keep up with, but can't seem to keep myself from starting new ones along the way! :)
Steph wrote: "LOL! Enjoy your smutty novella. I think I read faster with my eReader v. PB too."Thanks, Steph! I'm glad I'm not the only one who readers faster in digital. Enjoy Abby Cooper!
Steph you'll have to let me know how you liked
I'm a big fan of her other series
I plan on reading the latest in that series
once I get my first 2 Mt.TBR books done

I didn't remember that one was by her too. I want to check that one out too. Glad to hear you like it. Abby's good so far. I'll share my review when I'm done.
My first book of 2011 was a free Kindle short about some vampire lovin'
. It was perfect for my mood but as always too short for much characterisation or depth.
My last books of 2010 were
and
. Stolen was excellent, I highly recommend it. Beware of Stockholm Syndrome though. I'm suffering from it now! The Koontz book was boring, not scary at all.
The first book I finished this year was
. A light and fun start to the New Year, lol. Just started reading
. So far so good.
Oh, I've heard good things about
. Glad you enjoyed it.Read
as my second Mt. TBR read. I was a little disappointed overall, thought it was a little over-rated.Next couple books on the list
and
. Super excited about both :)
@ Kerstin: The Stephanie Plum series used to be one of my favorites! :) @ Amy: I just found out about
and I can't wait to read it.@ Vivian: Enjoy Hunger Games!
Josie wrote: "I've finally finished

However, it is one of the few books where I liked the small change made to the ending in the movie even better than the end of the book. (Of course, I saw the movie first, so that may have made a difference.)
Regina wrote: "@ Kerstin: The Stephanie Plum series used to be one of my favorites! :) It still is one of my faves. Granted, they are a bit repetitive after a while, but they never fail to make me laugh-out-loud!
@Amanda: I absolutely LOVE the film! The film was the reason I picked up the book and so far, I'm enjoying it. Not sure yet if I'm going to prefer the book or film, it's usually the book (even when I see a film first) but this may be the exception to the rule! :)
I'm not sure whether it was because it was 200 pages too long or lack of plot/no connection to the characters or just Lauren Kate's style of writing, I just didn't get on with it. But I do agree that the cover is lovely, the best thing about the book IMO. Thank goodness I only borrowed it and not paid £10 (!) for it- I'd be so gutted!Lol and I don't really want to put anyone off it, you may possibly find it enjoyable... apparently over 5000 people found it "amazing" :P
LOL, yours is not the first negative review of that book that I've seen. I had no plans to read it anyway, so don't feel bad. Glad you didn't buy it. It's always horrible if you've spent good money on a book and it's just awful. Glad you don't have that problem!
I've just finish Last Sacrifice, the most recent book in the Vampire Academy Series, which was just brilliant. It kept me smiling like an idiot for an hour after putting it down.I'm now reading The Eye of the Moon, it is going to be difficult to get used to the writing style, which I personally find a bit too aggressive compared to Richelle Mead's prose.
@Sandra: Phew! Oh good! I'd hate to put someone off a book they've been looking forward to or would've liked had they read it :)@Cyberalmu: Oooh, glad you liked 'Last Sacrifice', I'm reading that in the next few days. So excited, I absolutely love that series!! One of the few books I've actually bought full-price (albeit with a Waterstones card I got for Christmas) :D
I have seen a bunch of less than flattering comments about Fallen as well. Shame. Cyberalmu, glad you enjoyed the finale to VA. I am anxious to read her spin-off. Wondering how it'll compare.
Steph wrote: "I have seen a bunch of less than flattering comments about Fallen as well. Shame..."I have Fallen but I don't have the urge to read it all. It's right at the bottom of the TBR, possibly permanently. At least I didn't pay full retail for it.
The cover was like a venus fly trap. :)I'm currently reading
and loving it so far. The snarky comments between the girl friends is making LOL to the point where my hubby was givin' me the "seriously?!" eyes. AND hottie shifters, what's not to love?
@Steph - The second book, Go Fetch!, gave me sore ribs I was laughing so hard! I've never cried so much because I was happy either. Miki is a blast! She's baaaad to the bone.
Hehe, gotta question my taste now, because I liked
. It was about 150 pages too long, after finishing it, I was confused like no other, and the love story is just lame...wait, I said I liked it, right? It's like Twilight to me, so flawed, but I can't not read it, lol. That being said...anyone else like it here?
I'm into
dragon shifters, what not to love!Steph, glad to hear you're loving
you're gonna love
then
The characters appear sporadically throughout the rest of the pride & pack serieses....
I want to start that series too, Sandra. Thanks! I'm looking forward to the rest of those and hope to read PRIDE in 2011 as well. Do the characters cross over between the pack & pride series or are they separate?
You'll get mentions and the ocassional character will pop up, but not in any meaningful way. Just in a nice I know who you are way! The Dragon series & the Gathering series don't cross over at all, but all the others do to a limited degree.
Vivian wrote: "Hehe, gotta question my taste now, because I liked

I read Torment as well and have to say that was a bit tedious for me to get through.
Ingi, my vote is for you to start Nalini's Psy-Changelings. I love that series! I enjoyed Ravenous. I haven't read any of the Sentinel series yet though. Whatever you pick - Enjoy!

:) Thanks, good to know.
My first 5 star book of 2011 is...
I'm not gonna lie, the premise of the book...that is some f-ed up sh*$! Even having a vague idea before reading, I was almost too disturbed to go on by the time they actually entered the 'game'...but I did, and it was good stuff :) Definitely understanding the hype now.
