I haven't heard of that one Jen! But it sounds interesting. Let us know how you like it!

Haha Andrew, you are a good husband! It's worth the wait!

So your saying stick with it? I read the first book and had a hard time getting into it. I have read other books by the author and liked them but I'm struggling with this one.

Amanda~ Yeah, give it a shot - they get better. Although, I like some of her other series better than this one - they do improve, and the last one is out later this year, so it's a complete series with no waiting! :)

Adela Clancy Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis finished today

My review

message 255: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Jen- I haven't heard of that one, but it looks interesting. You'll have to let us know if it's any good.

Andrew- I just finished CofFA yesterday. It was amazing. It did not disappoint. I'm glad you're liking it so far. It only gets better!

Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth, #1) by Terry Goodkind
My cousin was raving about this series when he found out that I loved Fantasy...he told me I had to read it. I'm just barely ten pages in and I'll tell you, I'm already hooked in!!!

message 256: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I am currently reading the Shadow Children series which is really quite good. I just finished Delirium last week before I even knew the group is currently reading it. It was a great read!

message 257: by [deleted user] (new)

Josephine, how was that series? I've been really curious about it, it sounds really good! Oh, and so glad you liked Delirium!

message 258: by Amanda (last edited Apr 14, 2011 10:26AM) (new)

Amanda (amonika) I'm reading the 3rd book in the Wicked Woods Series by Kailin Gow. Silver (Wicked Woods, #3) by Kailin Gow

I'm not enjoying this book as much as I enjoyed the first two in the series. I'm wondering if that should surprise me because I didn't enjoy the 4th book in the Frost book series as much as I enjoyed the first ones either. Perhaps it is a trend.

I'll try the second one and see if it picks up.

Hi Amy, I wondered if I would like it, but I started reading the first one and then couldn't put it down. I got all 7 in the series off of goodreads bookswap. I am on the 6th one now and have the 7th one along with in case I finish the 6th. They are really really quick reads. I like how the character from the first book reappears in each book, but he is not always the main character throughout the series. Other characters from previous books will become the main character in later books. It's really is a great series! Also, as an aside, I am so happy to find a dystopian fiction book group since that's pretty much what I've been reading lately!!

Angie (angiebayne) I think I am going to start Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis tonight when I get off work. Just picked it up from the library.

message 264: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just started Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie . Interesting concept.

message 265: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments I picked up Test by William Sleator from the library - anyone read it?

Amy ~ see my review - it wasn't worth the effort! :)

message 267: by [deleted user] (new)

Amanda, if you like Matched, you should try Delirium (if you haven't already). And let us all know what you think of Matched, because a lot of us a part of an ongoing debate lol :)

Jen, haven't heard of that one. It sounds interesting though! Here's to hoping you like it better than The Unspoken!

Hey Adela! So, I loved White cat. It's a really interesting story line...very original. It came at a good time for me because I was so tired of reading the same stuff. White Cat was a total breath of fresh air. I hope you love it. Holly Black just released the second book in the series, it's called Red Glove and it looks awesome. Let me know how you like it.

I'm still at interesting, but I'm not even half way in yet. Is there a discussion group for this book? I'm going to have to go look and see. I can see where this would pull different responses from people.

message 271: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Draper | 58 comments I'm reading Delirium right now and I LURVE it. :) I actually picked it up after reading another one of her books - "Before I Fall". It was a frustrating read, but I enjoyed it all the same.

message 272: by Sara (new)

Sara (meatball77) I just read Aliens on Vacation which was adorable and fun. Pre-order it for your little brother.

Now I'm reading The Royal Treatment which is cute so far.

I got a whole batch of disney/hyperion ARC's from netgalley, so it's cutsy books for a while. They're great fun.

Last week while on vacation I read Ultraviolet which was really really weird. Bite Me which was great fun, an adult crossover book about a vampire hunting succubus (who has no sex) and Where She Went which I appear to be the only one that didn't like.

message 273: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Ok - so, I'm 0 for 2 on my current library picks, let's hope, What I Saw And How I Lied by Judy Blundell is better than the last 2! :)

message 274: by Julie (new)

Julie S. Jen wrote: "I picked up Test by William Sleator from the library - anyone read it?"

I have not read this particular one by Sleator, but I think that he's generally a good author.

I did like
Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis . Although I thought the mystery was obvious. I had it figured out almost immediately. I loved the world though.

message 276: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Yes, the world was really cool. Plus, I just really like her writing style. I loved the opening and the way she describes the whole freezing process. I just loved it all! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Bethany, Your cousin was right. I am on the fourth of the Sword of Truth series. They are great. Did you know that there was a tv show (two seasons) called Legend of the Seeker, that is based upon the series.

Dystopians I've recently read XVI, Delirium, Across the Universe, and Candor. Loved them all.
XVI by Julia Karr Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis Candor by Pam Bachorz

message 278: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't even realize that Candor was dystopian Candice. I remember that cover, but I never read the synopsis, so I didn't know what it was about. But wow, it sounds pretty good! Added! :)

I actually talked to my cousin today and he specifically warned me of the TV show. He said it was like a cheesy Kevin Sorbo kinda show. LOL. I am really curious about it tho...but I've gotta read the book first.

That is a good TV show. I've watched both seasons not realizing it was a book series. I'll have to pick that up and try it.

I'm reading Crossed (the 2nd in the Matched series).

message 281: by Bethany (new)

Bethany What?! It's out?

message 282: by Bethany (new)

Bethany How? I thought it didn't come out til Nov.

message 283: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) LOL - i put that and then went to buy it and found out it wasn't out. So disappointed. I have to go find something else to read now.

message 284: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 22 comments Finished City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare and of course y'all were right, it was great! Now I'm onto the City of Ember series The City of Ember (Books of Ember, #1) by Jeanne DuPrau . I am about half way through book 1 and so far I am enjoying it. Much easier read than most books which is nice for a change. :)

message 285: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Gonna start Rules of Attraction (Perfect Chemistry, #2) by Simone Elkeles TONIGHT!!! I'm so excited.

message 286: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 22 comments Finished The City of Ember. I don't normally finish a book so quick but I couldn't put it down! It was such a good and easy read. Now I'm onto Book 2, The People of Sparks (Books of Ember, #2) by Jeanne DuPrau . Hope it's just as good.

message 287: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rmenard) Just bought Wither and I think I'll start it today. I read a few pages online and got sucked in so I hope the rest doesn't disappoint.Wither

message 288: by Candice (new)

Candice (thecrj) Bethany - Yeah, the show can be a little cheezy (the special effects aren't the best), but after reading the books it was interesting to watch.

Last night I started
The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan

message 289: by Sara (new)

Sara (meatball77) One of the City of Ember books I didn't like but the other three were good. I think it was the third book that randomly focused on other characters.

Has anyone read City of Fallen Angels I got 100 pages in and nothing has happened at all. Does it get better or does the rest read like fan fiction?

message 290: by [deleted user] (new)

Gets better! Except I'm a Cassandra Clare junkie, so I might be a bit biased...

message 291: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments I picked up Ender's Game from the library on my last trip. I love this book and it's been awhile since I read it. I forgot how intelligent it is.

message 292: by Candice (last edited Apr 21, 2011 09:00AM) (new)

Candice Abraham (candiceabraham) So I'm probably the very last person in this group to be reading this but I'm starting The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner tonight! Very excited!

message 293: by [deleted user] (new)

Jen, I was surprised how much I liked Ender's Game! I usually don't like books that were written so long ago, but that one totally changed my way of thinking!

Yay Candice! That one is soooo good!

message 294: by Candice (new)

Candice Abraham (candiceabraham) Thanks Amy! I remember you'd recommended it. I'll let you know how it goes!
