I'm so jealous that you didn't have to wait for any of the VA books to come out! I'm glad you're liking them though! I might have to give HoN another try one of these days...

message 152: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Lol...yeah, they aren't bad. They aren't amazing, but they definitely held my interest. I'm gonna try to get percy too....just for you.

message 153: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes! That is a definite must! I can't bug enough people about reading those ones lol :)

message 154: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments Not dystopian, but has anyone read the Laws of Magic series? If so, is it worth reading? (Can't seem to get a grasp on what age it is aimed at.)

message 155: by [deleted user] (new)

It sounds pretty good, but I haven't heard of it before right now, so I can't help you with the age it's meant for. But I hope you read it and let us know how you liked it, cuz it sounds pretty interesting!

I just finished DragonSpell (DragonKeeper Chronicles, #1) by Donita K. Paul today and it was pretty good, good enough to read the next books in the series. Started Steel by Carrie Vaughn . I'm a pirate junkie, and I'm loving it so far!

message 156: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments Arr, Pirates [swing one arm]. Gotta love 'em.

message 157: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I just grabbed Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant . Just started it, interesting so far. Still working on The House of Night series.

Weird I am reading steel too!! Well it's not really that weird but it always seems that we read the same books!!

message 159: by [deleted user] (new)

Bethany, I've heard good and bad things about that series, but I've always avoided them because of how long they are! You'll have to let me know what you think of that one!

Amy, it's funny! Yay for reading the same books! I liked it! Hope you do too!

message 160: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments I really like the Gone series, but everyone I know who's read them doesn't. I think you just need to read them with an open mind.

message 161: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Ok. Well, I like it so far. I think the thing that will keep my interest is wondering what the heck is going on...lol. I just got to the part where they find the wall in the country club...Odd. So at the least i'm intrigued.

message 162: by Bethany (new)

Bethany So my librarian gave me a copy of Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly . Apparently this is also titled Angel and I've heard great reviews for it, so i'm excited to read it. And, hey...who doesn't love a free book?

Also reading the third HON book and starting Rampant (Killer Unicorns, #1) by Diana Peterfreund

message 163: by [deleted user] (new)

Angel Burn was really good! Haha that's funny I read the version titled Angel. There are some slow parts, but it's a great angel book, I'll think you'll like it!

message 164: by Julie (new)

Julie S. I'm reading The Roar by Emma Clayton right now, and it's pretty good so far.

message 165: by [deleted user] (new)

That one sounds really good!

message 166: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Haha...i read the whole thing yesterday (angel burn). It was really good! Very romantic and I liked the way the angels were kinda different than they are in most angel books. I really enjoyed it.

message 167: by Julie (new)

Julie S. I fnished The Roar today, and it was pretty good. It was probably on the younger side of YA, but I thorougly enjoyed it.

message 168: by lézengő reader (new)

lézengő reader (kergezerge) I'm reading The Maltese Falcon just to have something different between two books of Alessandro Baricco's :))) the detective's assistant is called Effie and that other Effie from The Hunger Games always comes to my mind :D

message 169: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments Reading Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant - finally. What strikes me most is how well thought out this novel is. Also how easy it is to read, considering how clever it is.

message 170: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Laura wrote: "Reading Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant - finally. What strikes me most is how well thought out this novel is. Also how easy it is to read, considering how clever it is."

I'm still waiting for my copy to come in at the library :( I guess it's ok tho. i have like 8 bks to read right now. I started Rampant...have u guys read this one? I really like it so far...it's my first killer unicorn book.

message 171: by Julie (new)

Julie S. I'm reading Tunnels (Tunnels, #1) by Roderick Gordon Tunnels right now, and it's pretty good. It's too soon to make a certain judgement, but I'm loving it so far.

message 172: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been stuck on Feed, but slowly kinda making my way through it! Everyone tells me to keep reading.

Bethany, I read Rampant and the sequel Ascendant. They were both pretty good! I like the concept of them because they are so different from any other book out there.

Julie, my B&N has a whole table dedicated to that series and I always stop and stare at them, wondering if I should buy them! You'll have to let me know how that one is, so I can justify spending my money on it! :)

message 173: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I agree about Rampant. It was so different from everything else that i've read...which is why I enjoyed it so much. I have Ascendant at home, ready to be cracked open any day now. I just finished book 3 & 4 of House of Night and they are getting better for me, still not my favorite series, but they're growing on me.
Here goes my next to be read list, in no particular order... Ascendant (Killer Unicorns, #2) by Diana Peterfreund Hunted (House of Night, #5) by P.C. Cast Eyes Like Stars (Théâtre Illuminata, #1) by Lisa Mantchev Bruiser by Neal Shusterman Impossible by Nancy Werlin

message 174: by Julie (last edited Mar 28, 2011 07:12PM) (new)

Julie S. I finished Tunnels, and it was so good that I checked out the sequel from the library. Deeper Deeper (Tunnels, #2) by Roderick Gordon is the name, and I like the cover- you can never have too many book covers of people exploring an epic cave of doom and peril.

I'm also reading the second book in the Fablehaven series, Rise of the Evening Star (Fablehaven, #2) by Brandon Mull Rise of the Evening Star.

It's so strange. I usually don't read book series (I guess it's a commitment issue or something), but now I'm in the middle of several series besides the two books I listed up there.

message 175: by [deleted user] (new)

You know, the artwork on the Tunnels books kinda remind me of the Percy Jackson artwork. I really need to read those ones! I've only heard good things about them! I really want to read the Fablehaven books too! But they aren't available for the Nook!

:D !!!
Very excited

message 177: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments I'm a third of the way through Entangled by Cat Clarke - it's pretty good so far.

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohhhhh...I've been really curious about that one! Let me know how you end up liking it!

Shayna, I liked the Dark and Hollow Places! I thought it was the best of the series! There's a thread for it now, let us know your thoughts when you finish it!

message 179: by Bethany (new)

Bethany My mom just bought the dark and hollow places. I was like...mom, i hate to break it to u but that is the third book of a series. her response- well, crap! lol. however, i've been inspired to give dead-tossed waves another chance. i will try to be more open this time around.

message 180: by Jen (new)

Augh, jealous! My copy is in the mail somewhere!

Finished Entangled. Not the most fantastic book ever, but definitely a compulsive read.

Amy (Crazybeautiful1409) | 16 comments Finished Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys and now reading Entwined by Heather Dixon

message 183: by [deleted user] (new)

Bethany, doooo it!

Jen, how is that series? I've been curious about it for a while!

Laura, hope you get your copy soon! It's a pretty good book! :)

Amy, when I was at the store yesterday, I was in between buying Wither and Entwined. Wither won haha. Let me know how Entwined is!

message 184: by Amy (last edited Mar 30, 2011 09:41AM) (new)

Amy (Crazybeautiful1409) | 16 comments I loved wither!!! Great read. The beginning is hard to shallow but just because it's graphic and detailed but I loved the book as a whole.

message 185: by Jen (last edited Mar 30, 2011 02:31PM) (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Jen, how is that series? I've been curious about it for a while!

Amy - it's not bad. I can't really relate to the sisters because the whole premise is they're mortal enemies and they're gonna have to kill each other. Maybe it's because I've got sisters that I could never hurt that I have trouble relating to them. But, the story itself is interesting.

message 186: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm...I might have to move it up on my TBR list. Thanks! :)

message 187: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I tried to read the Prophecy Sisters...couldn't get into it. I agree with Jen that it was hard to related to it in any real way for me.

AND YES!! Let us know how Entwined is...I really want to read that one!

message 188: by Sara (new)

Sara (meatball77) I loved entwined. There's a review on my blog. It's a very long book but I really liked it. I'm a fan of fairytale retellings.

I got lots of dystopians from vine this month, Divergent which was the best dystopian I've read since The Hunger Games, Awaken which was a cookie cutter dystopian romance that's a whole like everything else that's been released and America Pacifica which I finished half an hour ago which I have mixed feelings about. I also read Memento Nora this week, it was ok.

message 189: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm super excited for Divergent and Momento Nora! I read Awaken a whil back, and I liked it. I liked the futuristic world. I read your review for America Pacifica, and it sounds really weird haha. Doesn't seem like a book I'd be into! You are so lucky that you get ARCs! I've wanted to start a blog just for that purpose, but I just don't have the time! Sad face...

message 190: by Sara (new)

Sara (meatball77) I get the ARC's through amazon vine. I don't know why we got picked to do it, we're top 1000 reviewers now.

I loved Divergent. Loved it. Momento Nora irritated me because it was REALLY short and I paid hardback prices for it.

message 191: by [deleted user] (new)

Do you have to be invited by Amazon to be part of that program? Maybe I'll just start posting all the reviews I've already written haha :)

message 192: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I'm finishing the Iron Fey series. I'm about 60% through the The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3) by Julie Kagawa . Next I plan to read Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano .

message 193: by [deleted user] (new)

Love the Iron Fey series! And The Iron Queen is the best! I think I might start Wither next too!

message 194: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just finished Iron Fey! I loved the book, but man did not like the ending so well. I was hoping something else was going to happen. Anyway, on to Wither.

message 195: by Lauren (last edited Mar 31, 2011 10:56PM) (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) I just finished The Forest of Hands and Teeth and now I'm praying that whoever has the next two books in the series out at the library will return them! And soon! If not, I'll have to break down and buy them. Here's my recent TBR list of YA A&D books...
Drought by Pam Bachorz Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner The Line (Line #1) by Teri Hall Those That Wake by Jesse Karp The Declaration (The Declaration, #1) by Gemma Malley Bumped by Megan McCafferty The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness Delirium by Lauren Oliver The Dead and the Gone (Last Survivors, #2) by Susan Beth Pfeffer Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis
Ok.. so there's even more than that.. but I just want to read them all at once!! Arrgg!

message 196: by Julie (new)

Julie I'm still working on a non-fiction book I started awhile back, it's good but taking me forever! I started Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick today and it's not bad, feels a little "twilighty" but I'm not very far into it yet. I also signed up for Pulse It by Simon and Schuster so I'm reading Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano online and it's good so far but the page turning is so slow it gets a little discouraging.

I finished Hollowland (The Hollows, #1) by Amanda Hocking a few days ago and it was awesome! I love Remy! Also finished The Dead-Tossed Waves (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #2) by Carrie Ryan yesterday and I liked it but not as much as The Forest of Hands and Teeth.

message 197: by Sara (new)

Sara (meatball77) You have to be invited to Vine, I have no idea why we were invited, we weren't super reviewers at the time although we purchase a huge amount from them. That was three years ago though.

Lauren ~ I've read "The Maze Runner", "The Knife of Never Letting Go", "Delirium", and "Across the Universe" - all are worth checking out. If you pick up The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner , be sure to also read, "The Scorch Trials" and with The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness , you've got to finish the trilogy with "The Ask and The Answer" and "Monsters of Men."

message 199: by [deleted user] (new)

I second all Jen's recommendations! Except I haven't read The Knife of Never Letting Go! It's on my list!

Julie, I liked Hush, Hush a lot more than it's sequel. I'm still debating whether or not I'm gonna pick up the third (I probably will just to complete my collection). I'm so so glad you liked Hollowland! I love that book! There's a thread for it in the Monthly Books topic if you wanna share your thoughts!

Thanks for the info Sara! :)

message 200: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Just finished Bruiser by Neal Shusterman . Very good book. On to the next with Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles . I'm almost finished with it and I am absolutely loving it!!!
