Candice (thecrj) Just finished Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young . Despite all the great reviews I had seen, I didn't think that I would like it at all. But I loved it, especially all the characters and how the story progressed.

Bethany Carey wrote: "Started the Maze Runner a few days ago. Having a hard time getting into it. When does it start getting good?"

Really? that one pretty much grabbed me from the get go. But, if you aren't hooked yet just give it some time. If I recall correctly it was not a slow paced or actionless book. So, give it some more time...you'll get there ;)

message 707: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Starting Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins and Torn (The Missing, #4) by Margaret Peterson Haddix soon.
Have any of you read this series 'The missing'. It's a really great juvenille series about time travel. If you have younger kids (pre-teens) I would highly recommend it. Torn is the 4th book.

Amanda (amonika) Carey wrote: "Started the Maze Runner a few days ago. Having a hard time getting into it. When does it start getting good?"

I actually didn't get into it until about partway through the book. The beginning was hard for me to get through.

I just finished Tempus by Tyra Lynn and I loved it. It has a unique concept (centering around Time Travel). I'm getting ready to start Altered (Setenid Blight #1) by Kimberly Montague . It has pretty good reviews so I'm kind of excited to read it.

message 709: by Julie (new)

Julie S. The Hostile Hospital and Wuthering Heights are my current readings. Not much in common but they're what I picked up.

Wasn't it great? The author just never seemed to hit a wrong note. It's such a nice experience to read something that flows so effortlessly, instead of cringing and squirming and trying to pick out the good bits of a story. I hope they do a good job with the eventual film version. It should make for great action!

message 711: by Candice (new)

Candice (thecrj) It would make an awesome movie! It almost reads as a movie.

The missing series is a great series for the juvenile crowd. I recommend it all the time.

message 713: by Angie (new)

Angie (angiebayne) I just finished The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa and Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King (not dystopic). Iron King was ok, but if you haven't read Vera Dietz you should it was fantastic. I started Ashes, Ashes by Jo Treggiari this morning but Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry just came in at the library so I might have to read that instead.

Once I got to chapter 14 I was completely hooked. For me, after thinking about it, I felt like he was writing Thomas's emotion about it exactly how I felt reading it. Thomas was confused and frustrated and so was I. Then when everything started to click into place when Teresa showed up it clicked for me too. It was brilliant writing and I LOVED it. so worth the frustration in the beginning.

Ahhh! Mine just came in today. I'm at work at the library so it's very tempting to go find a shadowy corner somewhere and "familiarize myself with the collection." But for now I'm contenting myself with carrying it around like it's My Precious. I can't wait to see what Han is up to. Happy reading!

message 725: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 27 comments I just finished This Dark Endeavor The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein by Kenneth Oppel which came out last month. What a great read! It's got lots of action, great characterization (Victor is both scary and sexy), and the perfect creepy Gothic atmosphere.

I'll start by mentioning that I thought this was the last book in a trilogy. So, imagine my surprise as I'm reaching the end and chapters are dwindling and things just aren't being resolved and the bad guys are still there. Yeah, I was a bit confused...to say the least. With that said, it was pure awesomeness!!! In all honesty, it wasn't my favorite of the series. I really loved the Exiled Queen. however it was still great and a lot of interesting new devolopments take place as well as some questions answered, secrets revealed. Yeah, it was pretty great. And, it sets up for a Kick Ass final novel. I.Can't.Wait.

message 728: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 3 comments Hey everyone, I need suggestions. I finished reading the last book for the Georgina Kincaid series and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead, who is my favorites author. I've read all her books. Now I don't know what to read because I'm pretty picky. I only read books in first person ( I, me) because 3rd person confuses me at times, I know lame lol. So if anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

message 729: by Carey (new)

Carey | 100 comments I liked the Mercy Thompson series Amanda. I'm pretty sure it's first person. Oh and The River of Time series is fun too. :)

If you like Rachel Mead you might like the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn, the focus is mainly on werewolves but there are vampires too!

Right now I'm currently reading My Life as A White Trash Zombie (White Trash Zombie, #1) by Diana Rowland that I believe someone on this thread or somewhere on goodreads was reading which piqued my interest. I'm only on chapter eight but it's one of those books that keeps you coming back for more.

I read all of the books in the "Uglies" series. I really enjoyed them and "Matched" was, I agree, okay. Nothing too spectacular. I am also looking forward to the sequel just because I always try to read sequels if I liked a first book even a little bit. lol.

What's the book format that the Nook uses? Can you use something like Calibre to convert them to whatever format you need? Like from epub to Nook format or whatever? I use a tablet pc as my ereader along with Aldiko as my ereader app and all my ebooks must be in .epub format so I just use Calibre to convert the books I buy if they're not epubs already such as any books off Amazon that are meant for Kindle.

Ooh! I LOVED all the books in the "Gone" series and kept singing their praises to my comic-book collector of a boyfriend and all his gamer friends; some of which did, actually go out and buy the first book because they checked out from the library like I did and enjoyed it enough to want their own copy. Not sure if they got the other books in the series though but I know they enjoyed them. Well, to each their own. XD!

Ami E. Bowen (skayda) | 18 comments Amanda wrote: "I just started The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I have heard a lot of good things about it so I hope it doesn't disappoint."

Oh, that's a wonderful series. I devoured all three of the books in the trilogy like nothing flat. Perfect for when you crave some good zombie lit.

I keep trying to start Blood Red Road, but I get tripped up by the writing (the accent). Honestly, its driving me a little crazy. Does it eventually change narrators? I'm thisclose to giving up entirely!

message 743: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 18 comments I recently finished description and [image error] which were both SO good - can't wait for the 3rd book.
I'm reading description right now which I don't particularly care for.

I'm not sure what to read now....just biding my time until the Death Cure comes out!

message 744: by Carey (new)

Carey | 100 comments I had trouble with Blood Red Roads accent too. I even tried reading it out loud for a while. But then I just started to ignore the accent and it was much easier. I had more trouble with the lack of quotation marks. I really loved the story once she got away from her home and to the city. Very fun book.

I didn't care for Water Wars too much, but I found myself thinking about more and more a few months later...so I upped my stars. :)

Finished Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant and now almost half way through Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant . I agree that Feed was really good and wow, what an ending. There were definitely some strong emotions coming from this guy. Deadline is good so far, although this first half is just about as slow as the first half of Feed, so I am hoping it ramps up for the second half just like book 1 did.

Jennifer (teoe) I'm currently reading City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments Series, #2) by Cassandra Clare . I enjoyed City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare quite a bit and devoured it while on a business trip. I'm going slower through Ashes, but I think that's just because I'm back at home and work, and i have lots less down time. I am enjoying it, though. I am waiting for next book from the library, hopefully I'll get it soon. I have the one after that, and I also have Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare waiting for me. I figure if I don't get Book 3 before I'm done with Book 2, I can start it. Someone here suggested I read it before Book 4 anyway, so we'll see.

Ohhh, Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant looks really interesting.

Ami E. Bowen (skayda) | 18 comments I'm now reading Rage by Julie Anne Peters and I'm about 58/60% done. It's intense and hard to read due to the subject matter. Domestic abuse in a lesbian relationship. It's a very good and interesting book because you always hear of heterosexual domestic abuse cases but very rarely about homosexual cases of domestic abuse. I think this book needed to be written, even though, as I said, it's difficult to read.

I love that series. It's awesome. Honestly, City of Ashes was probably my least favorite of the first three, but it's still really good. I just felt like it started off a little slower than the first book. But, City of Glass is AMAZING and my favorite. You can read Clockwork Angel before or after...it honestly won't make much of a difference. ENJOY! ;)

message 750: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I just finished Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins . And it was good, but it left off on a huge cliffhanger which was irksome. Poor Sophie. That girl just can't catch a break can she.

I've got two from the library Hourglass (Hourglass, #1) by Myra McEntire and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs . Not sure what to start first, I'll probably start them both;)
