That's okay. I have several stacks of others to keep me busy in the mean time. ; )
I've found two more that I'm looking forward to in 2011!1) The Magician King by Lev Grossman, last I heard estimated for fall 2011.
2) Book three of David Anthony Durham's Acacia trilogy, tentatively titled "The Sacred Band", which is estimated to be released in fall 2011 as well.
The Wise Man's Fear - Patrick Rothfuss!!!I bought a signed copy from www.signedpage.com. And a signed copy of The Name of the Wind for good measure. I hope to receive them by the ides of March.
Looking forward to anything that Brandon Sanderson is going to be publishing next year, especially Mistborn: The Alloy of Law, if it comes out in 2011.
I heard a rumor that Al Philipson is going to bring out his new book, The 8th Day early this year. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
There are several books I'm looking forward to:7th Sigma by Steven Gould
The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
A Discovery of Witches: A Novel by Deborah Harkness
Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi
Embassytown by China Mieville
Wow, Fuzzy Nation has a release date now? That is so on my list, too. Though I have some misgivings about it, I want to see how Scalzi deals with the material. (Incidentally, for any H. Beam Piper fans out there, many of his works have entered the public domain and can be found on Project Gutenberg, including Little Fuzzy.)And incidentally, it surprises me a little that Grossman has produced a sequel to The Magicians. I guess it just didn't feel like it was the kind of book where the author intended to write a sequel.
Steven Erikson's crippled God...the concluding volume of the Malazan books of the fallen...in my humble opinion, one of the most complex and compelling series of epic fantasy fiction the genre has to offer...an exemplary work that should be standard reading for all fantasy fansJounrey through the Land of Shades...by a certain goodreads author...
While it's not a new release for 2011, I've been waiting for the PB version of Neal Asher's novel The Technician.Seems I'm gonna get mine a bit early since the official release is only 4 February, but The Book Depository seems to be in the process of dispatching their pre-orders and now shows it as 72 hour normal dispatch time.
I've remembered another one for March Teeth: Vampire Tales. Yes, vampires, yawn ... but this one has a pretty impressive lineup, and I'm willing to give it a shot.
That I know of...January: Agatha H and the Airship City, The Hammer
February: The Heroes, The Fallen Blade, Never Knew Another, Bloodshot
March: The Cloud Roads
April: The River of Shadows, Deathless
May: Dancing With Bears
June: Fort Freak
July: Heartless, Raising Stony Mayhall, Kings of Morning
Amazon just informed me that the newest Dresden Files book has been pushed back until summer - has anyone else heard that?
the book i'm most excited about this year is the Nick Harkaway's follow up to The Gone-Away World:Angelmaker
i confess that when i heard this was coming out i did the happy dance :D

Just checked his website to check what's up. New release date - July 26, 2011.
Following an in-interview announcement by Jim at MarsCon over the weekend, we’ve updated the site to reflect the new release date for Ghost Story: July 26, 2011.
Said Jim (paraphrased): “It came down to, readers could either get a half-assed story in April, or a full-assed one in July!”
Well, I would rather have a full-assed one. :D
Just found out about two new collections coming out in March that look interesting. If my library gets them, I will definitely check them out. I'm reluctant to buy most books sight unseen, so if my library doesn't get them ... hard to say. Those Who Fight Monsters: Tales of Occult Detectives
After Hours: Tales from Ur-Bar
Oh, and too bad about the Jim Butcher delay. I don't really follow him, but I know it's a pain to have a work you're eagerly awaiting delayed.
Thanks for the update on Butcher. Sigh. Yeah, I guess I'd rather get the full-assed story too. But I wanna know what happens next! The novella in Side Jobs was extremely unsatisfying.
Okay I found one book that is actually being released in 2011 that I'm looking forward to reading right away: Michael Sullivan's last novel in the Riyria Revelations series. Everybody else is on the "eh, I'll get to it eventually" list. :)

To say nothing of Robert Jordan fans...
Paul wrote: "i just keep repeating the mantra better good than quick, better good than quick..."I remember something my teachers in computer science once said: First get it working, then get it right.
Sometimes it's better to get something down on the page, and then use it as a jumping-off point to improve with edits later on. I had to put something down to finish St. Martin's Moon, so I could relax about it enough to have my satori moment 2 weeks later. Word processors are wonderful things. It's not like we're using quills, squid ink, and expensive parchment.
That's how I write - I'll frantically throw down the bones of a scene or chapter in a single burst, then spend days fiddling with it. Learning that I didn't have to get it right the first time was a pivotal moment in my writing career.
Completely forgot about Moon Over Soho, second in the Peter Grant series. Comes out next month I believe.

Good point! Plus at least he knew how to end a book.
Locus reports that Tiassa is due out in April rather than March, and Sherwood Smith's web site says that the sequel to Coronets and Steel, Blood Spirits, is due in September. I'm curious enough about Blood Spirits to at least give it a read, and so I've modified my original post accordingly.
I baled on the Vlad Taltos series a while back - it felt like Brust wrote himself into a corner. Are the recent ones any good? I loved the first few books in the series. I just checked, and Issola was the last one I read, back in 2002!
As a series it's certainly had its ups and downs if you ask me. Unfortunately, IMO, until you get to Iorich, there's a lot of (at best) treading water, in the holding pattern of Vlad being on the run. Other people, I'm sure, would disagree with me on that point. There's certainly a lot that happens.I did like Iorich, though, which is the most recent one (until Tiassa actually comes out). And I'm looking forward to Tiassa for a reason you can probably guess from the title, depending on how familiar you are with Brust's non-Vlad work. (view spoiler)
I just found out that The Curious Case of the Clockwork Man, the sequel to The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack, is due out next month. So I've added that to my list.

I'll add as a really wishful thinking A Dance with Dragons. Please, please, please finally come out.
Just announced on GRRM page A Dance with Dragons - JULY 12 2011!!!http://www.georgerrmartin.com/if-upda...
I'm excited, but not holding my breath. Not listed on Amazon yet...at least with this date.
I do too Dawn, but after so long a wait, this is one title that I'm willing to pay $15 for a Kindle pre-order. I don't think I could wait until the price dropped!
I just looked at the website-and it says;MArch 3, 9:23 am first posted at 9 am EST on my website]
No. Sorry. Not done yet.
I'm close, though. Watch this space. When the book is done, you will read it here.
Meanwhile... there is news. Big news. The end is in sight, at long long last, and we're close enough so that my editors and publishers at Bantam Spectra have set an actual publication date.
A DANCE WITH DRAGONS will be in your favorite bookstore on
TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2011
Yes, I know. You've all seen publication dates before: dates in 2007, 2008, 2009. None of those were ever hard dates, however. Most of them... well, call it wishful thinking, boundless optimism, cockeyed dreams, honest mistakes, whatever you like.
This date is different. This date is real.

Oh man that was funny.
By the way, what's up with "reply" only taking the first line or two of someone's post for quoting, when 9 times out of 10 the part I'm replying to is way down at the bottom?
