I finished that about a week ago and really enjoyed it. I don't read alot of YA, but this one was really sweet. I loved the narration the most, I must say, but the characters and humor were very refreshing. It makes a great break after reading Les Misérables.

Richard/Emilee - The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my favorite books. I hope you guys enjoy it

I'm currently reading The Second Sex, which is a rather long exploration of French feminism/ existentialism. It's for an english paper I'm writing, we have to answer some philosophical question and this book has been sitting in my room for a while.

message 431: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sanddune) I list The Last Lecture as one of my all time favorites. Another I especially liked is My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor. Yes, the Grapes of Wrath is a stretch. I have it on my list to read this summer. Now I am reading The Time Traveler's Wife, and a book by Tom Robbins, a change of genre for me. I too am trying new authors.

Susan C (somersetpurplegmailcom) Has anyone read A Reliable Wife?

message 433: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) No Susan. Who is it by hon? Can u give us an idea ie a Synposis of the book please?

message 434: by Susan C (new)

Susan C (somersetpurplegmailcom) It's by Robert Goolrick

Set in 1909 in rural Wisconsin. Mail order bride with secrets marries man with own secrets. She knows about his past and plans to slowly bring him down and take his money.

Barnes and Noble has a better synopsis but I didn't want to take up too much space, so I abbriviated mine.

Doubleday has the author of Water For Elephants talking about how much she loved it.

message 435: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Thanks Susan, will add that to my list of wants lol.

message 436: by Susan C (new)

Susan C (somersetpurplegmailcom) Fiona wrote: "Thanks Susan, will add that to my list of wants lol."

Does the lol mean you want to read it or not? I'm a bit confused,

message 437: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I will add it. LOL means Laughing Out Loud (adding more books to my 700 odd to be read list.)

I am going to try and read more different genres if poss.

message 438: by Susan C (new)

Susan C (somersetpurplegmailcom) I thought that's what you meant, but I don't text so I don't know all the subtleties of the abbriviations.

I also am planning on buying it. I thought Water for Elephants was so well written that if the author gives it a thumbs up it ought to be good.

message 439: by Susan C (new)
