Mandy I'm currently reading my first Dickens Great Expectations and loving it, the way he writes and his wit is just so enveloping.

Also have The Mysterious Island on the go and the third part of the book is really action packed and page turning.

Kathy (marianslibrary) | 51 comments I just started reading, My Sister's Keeper, by Jodi Picoult. The movie is coming out soon and I thought I'd better get it read before seeing it. So many people have liked this book. I enjoy how Picoult changes narrators so you get all of the main characters perspectives.

message 310: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

I liked The Lovely Bones as well. Gonna read Lucky her bio from her as well.

message 311: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (marianslibrary) | 51 comments Did you stop reading it because you lost interest in it? I feel if I start a book, I should finish it - unless it's horribly bad.

message 312: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I stopped cos I wasn't gettin what it was about. But I tend to go back to books I have started and tend to finish.

Kathy (marianslibrary) | 51 comments Well, I said I'd read, The Graveyard Book, after finishing, My Sister's Keeper, but I thought I should read, The Shack, first. It's our bookclub book for April 8th. My husband read it about a month ago in 2 days. Loved it! He said it was very deep and thought provoking. Has anyone else read, The Shack?

message 336: by alicia (last edited Mar 25, 2009 09:51AM) (new)

alicia grant (shesha556) Kathy I read the Shack and thought the same thing.I'm not a very church going type religious person so this book was really great for me.I think alot of people who are really strictly church goers and bible reading religious followers will not like the book at all.I loved it and was happy there was somewhere out there that described faith like i always believed.

I am reading Secret's in the Shadows by V.C.Andrews

message 337: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) It's so good to hear good things about the Shack, I've picked it up a couple of times at the book store only to put it back ... perhaps next time.

message 338: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I have read and finished Cold Granite - Stuart MacBride & An Eye for an Eye - Malorie Blackman and now I am reading Blood Test - Jonathan Kellerman & 8th Confession - James Patterson

message 339: by KrisT (new)

KrisT Kathy, I read the Shack also. I got in on an early read of the book with a discussion online with the author. It is very interesting read and like Ken said there is a great perspective about the Trinity.

I am almost finished with my rereads of Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.

message 340: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Now I really must pick it up next time I'm at the book store, thanks guys!

message 341: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Just picked from my pile this morning to start while I ate breakfast: "Lush Life" by Richard Price. I think it will be a fast read because there is a lot of conversation.

message 342: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (marianslibrary) | 51 comments Thanks Alicia, Ken, & KrisT for all of your insights on The Shack! Truly appreciate it! That's what I like about Goodreads. I'm finding it difficult to put this book down right now.

message 343: by Krista (new)

Krista mallet | 5 comments Well I am new to this group and I love hearing about what everyone else is reading. I just finished reading Little Bee by cleave.I was quite disappointed with the ending and overall didnt really enjoy it. At times I was thinking just get on with it. I wish I could just put a book away when i did not like it instead of continuing it. Right now I am reading The secret life of ceecee wilkes. I hope this one is better.

message 344: by Jim (new)

Jim R. | 2 comments Jack Kerouac - The Subterraneans...anyone read it???

message 345: by Shannon SA (new)

Shannon SA (shannonsa) Have just finished "Frederica" by Georgette Heyer - I haven't read GH for many years, and read this for a challenge, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just about to start "The Ice Soldier" by Paul Watkins, puntd as an adventure set in Britain and the Alps just after WWII, looks intriguing.

I can't ever just put a book down either. I think it's because I keep thinking that there must be something about the book that made other people read it so I keep reading trying to figure out what it is!

message 347: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sanddune)
What is an easier prereader to Kerouac? Just the name intimidates me. Still on Life of Pi, putting the Shack on tbr list.
