Nicole - Save Karyn was an early book purchase for me (this was back in the day when I owned maybe 2 books and that was because my college classes required it! Can't say that now as every TBR book on my shelves here I own!) and I fell in love with it right away. She really made me want to get rid of my debt as well! I didn't feel as passionate with In The Red, but it was amusing to read and I found I wanted to see what happened next. Now if only my debt would disappear!

They are fantastic, aren't they? I fell in love with them a few months back and resisted purchasing until they went on sale. Unfortunately, there's no Saks in Seattle (ridiculous), so I'm waiting on their arrival.

I don't have a Saks anywhere nearby either. Have you ever looked at the shoes on SmartBargains.com? They have a lot of cute shoes for (sometimes) really great prices.

I hadn't looked at that one ever; will have to add it to my list. Thanks.

You know, I think I started to read that once and put it down because I couldn't get into it.

Does anyone else think Jane Green's books aren't as good as they used to be?

I have had mixed reviews myself for Jane Green. I loved getting a chance to meet her. I loved the one I just finished of hers called Second Chance. I haven't read many of her othes except for Beach House and Bookends.

I don't think I've read enough to be able to make that call. I know I didn't care for the first one I tried - Babyville - and it took me a long time to pick one of hers up again. But when I did, it was one of her newer ones and I really liked it. I've read the ones she's released and the last three or four years, but I've also read her first two, I think the first two. I know Jemima J is her first one. And I loved those too. I haven't read too many in between yet.
The one I find that I have a hard time with is Marian Keyes. I've tried a couple of hers now and haven't been able to finish them. I so much want to like them because so many other people do. But the ones I've tried have been a struggle that leave me reluctant to pick up any others....

Stacy - have you tried Marian Keyes 2 books of short essays/stories? I found after reading that I had much more respect for her as a writer and loved reading her stories more. I'm about to dive into a harder read of hers...
As far as Jane Green, I've always heard you either like her old stuff or her new stuff, but a lot of people don't like both. For me, I really liked Babyville and Swapping Lives (although it did have a slow start). I enjoyed overall the story of The Beach House, but I remember feeling underwhelmed afterwards. I did not like Jemima J that much(although I gave it 3 stars). I have so many of her other books to read, I want to gather more under my belt before I decide which side of the fence I'm on :)
I had one of those Marian Keyes books at one time Kourtney, but I ended up placing it on one of the swapping sites because I never figured I'd get around to it. One day, maybe....
On Jane Green, I actually really liked The Beach House and Dune Road. And I loved, LOVED, Promises to Keep. That one kept me up until 3am to finish it. I just couldn't put it down and it had me in tears, like, literally sobbing. If a book can move me that much, it's a number one in my opinion. Other books of hers I've read that I really loved were Jemima J (I know I've mentioned this already), and Mr. Maybe. I read Swapping Lives and Second Chance and liked both of those as well. For whatever reason, so far, Babyville was the only one that I actually couldn't get into. Then again, that was four years ago and it could've been my mood at the time. I'll probably try it again sometime.
So actually looking at the list of what I've read against what she has published, I guess I have read enough to make the call. And I gotta say, yeah, I'm a fan. :)

Might be one of my new favorite books ever!

I wish the book let us know more about Alice and Paul's relationship at the end but a really good book...
543. Secrets of My Hollywood Life
So glad I finally started this series. I'm such a sucker for any kind of behind the scenes Hollywood type books. :)
