Introduce Yourself - Part Deux!
Hello! My name is Marsha and I discovered my love of PNR and Urban Fantasy through Goodreads. I'm a book-aholoic of sorts and I can't go a day without getting my fix of something from this genre. My favorite authors (but definitely not limited to these) include Patricia Briggs, Karen Moning, Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews, Kelley Armstrong, Devon Monk and so many others! I'm currently reading For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison, though I usually have several books going at once. I am so excited to discover new authors in this genre. Hopefully, I'll discover a few new ones through this group (and maybe introduce others to a few that I've discovered):)
Hi there Marsha! Welcome to Who's your Author! Feel free to share some new authors with us, I love reading new stuff :)
Hello everyone! My name is Deandri, I'm 26 and I live in cape town south Africa. I'm married and a mom of a VERY busy 15month old boy.
I absolutely love reading and my all time favorite genre is paranormal.
My favorite authors are Lora Leigh (breed series WOW!) Illona Andrews (kate daniels AWESOME read!), Patrica Briggs (Mercy Thompson), Nalini Singh (psy\changling )Luarell K Hamilton and Christine Feehan to name but a few... read so many books that its hard to find good authors I haven't read and can enjoy. Looking forward to finding new series to read and seeing everyone's opinions on them.
Hi folks! My name is Bridget and I joined after a friend reccomended this group (thanks darcy). I love PNF and UF anything to do with things that go bump in the night and have a snarky attitude to go with. A few of my Fav authors are katie macalister, g.a. aiken, chloe neill, plus I have recently discovered kim harrisons series! I do try to throw in some harder and real life stuff too just to round out the Paranormal smut.

Hi all. Am loving all the info on the group! Jaime Rush's offspring series is fun, fun, fun. But my big fav right now is the Hunger Games. I'm backlogged on reading material and looking forward to a month or two to catch up. (I write full time and have been on a deadline.) Looking forward to getting to know everyone. :)
Hi everyoneI recently joined up on the site, hoping to enagage with people and get to know more about what people are reading etc. I live in Reading, in the UK. All my life I have worked with books, having been a Learning Resources Manager and now a Library Manager in a hospital.

Hi all,I am DeeAnn from MN and I found Goodreads when the LivingSocialBooks app on Facebook went kerplewie.
I have read (and gotten coworkers obsessed with) Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan & JR Ward, but I read SO many more authors than those. Totally in love with the Mercy Thompson series and the Lords of the Underworld as well as the Warriors of Posideon series', among others.
I have gone (and taken a coworker) to 3 Sherrilyn Kenyon book signings where I have met several other fans that I hope to bring to this site. (My fav DH/WH is Fury, even though I am an animal control officer and he has a very low opinion of my profession. LOL)
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading!
Greetings,I'm Katherine. I'm from Quebec, Canada I'd consider myself a bookworm. I love to read all genres of Literature. PR being one of my favourite. As for a favourite Author..that tough..it's a kin to asking "what would you wish for, if you had just one wish?". But if I have to choose a great series Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole. I find myself jumping the bus to the nearest English bookstore. :)
Hi all, I joined the group after the organizer of the Karen Chance fan group mentioned it to me. I'm an anthropologist living in Australia -- but all my academic colleagues think my fiction reading list is bizarre :( so I turn to Goodreads for like-minded bookworms and recommendations for new stuff in the UF genre. So obviously I'm a huge fan of Karen Chance's books -- both series (warning all you Team Pritkin members out there: I'm Team Mircea!). I also love Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Gail Carriger, Karen Moning, Suzanne McLeod, Patrick Hearne, Charlaine Harris (though with the last book I'm starting to wonder if she's jumped the shark), and Meljean Brooke's new steampunk series. (I know this isn't a high fantasy group but I'll mention how much I am amazed by Patrick Rothfuss.) I'm more a fan of UF than PNR though I like Jeaniene Frost a lot and I think she's considered more PNR than UF (I think she's borderline).
By the way I notice that Suzanne McLeod isn't as well known as some others in this genre -- any other fans of her Spellcrackers series out there?
Hi Bell, welcome to the group.Yeah I've read the first book in McLeod's series, it wasn't bad but my library hasn't gotten the second book yet so I'm still waiting to read it. She is definitely not as well known!
Thanks, Jess! McLeod's 2nd and 3rd books are as good or better than the first. Just as crazily complex (she's like Karen Chance that way). If there are any other McLeod fans out there, let me know if you're Team Finn or Team Malik!
Hi everyone,I'm Kimberly and I've loved PNR and UF for years. I love the usual suspects Laurell K. Hamilton, Patricia Briggs, Kelley Armstrong etc. I'm so glad I found this group!
Hi I'm Marc from NJ( the jeresy shore).I have some general information about me in my profile.I mostly read Urban fantasy , YA, and some sci fi as well.I am on here to make friends and get some recommendations for books as well.
ey! My real name is Abby and I'm 25 years old. I started getting into vampires with Buffy the Vampire Slayer(series) and it just went from there. I've always been a reader but up until my 2nd year of college all I read was Historical and Harlequin romances. When I was in my 2nd year of college I came across Christine Feehan's Dark Symphony and I've been hooked on Paranormal romances ever since. I'm a HUGE True Blood fan as well (Team Eric!!) and I'm always looking for new series and authors to read. My favorite books are shifter or Vamp books so far... haven't really read any ghost or dragon stories yet... Can't wait to chat with you all and be able to share and discuss our books!
Hi Marc, welcome from a former New Jerseyite (I'm in Sydney now -- another shore), and hi Abby/Fangtasia. Abby, you brought up a topic that I have long had a big question about: Buffy. It's a bit of a stupid question, I guess, so go ahead and laugh, but then please answer!I know there are Buffy novels. I gather (but am not positive) that the TV show came before the novels -- correct? Does anyone read the novels, or are they like Star Trek novels written by a bunch of different authors with varying style and quality? Were there any novels that actually preceded the TV show? I'm asking because people always talk about Spike and he's iconic enough that I want to get a handle on him, but I don't much like watching TV -- would always rather read a novel. So is there a Buffy novel that anyone can recommend?
There are novels and I believe(may be wrong) that the novels came out after the show. The thing with reading the novels is you don't get the whole Spike character properly because James Marsters put some of his own personality into the character so the books can't really get it down right lol... And I liked the show a lot better so can't really recommend one of the novels ... Sorry hon lol
Bell, the Buffy books are all written by various authors. I like Abby, like the tv series better. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer book is based on the movie, so I would stay away from that one, the movie wasn't what Joss Whedon envisioned it when he wrote it. With that in mind if you want to read something around the tv show, start with The Harvest. If you just want Spike stories there are two before the series stars (1)Spike and Dru:Pretty Maids All in a Row and (2) Blackout. I honestly can't tell you if any of them are worth reading as I haven't read a Buffy book. A couple of my friends liked them and have said I would like them, so my recommendation comes from that.
Hello everyone, my name is Cindy and I love PNR, Urban Fantasy, and horror books. To be honest I do read other types of stories but always find myself drawn back to the paranormal genera. Like most of the women I have spoken to I really got back into PNR and UF after reading Twilight and craving something a little more adult. Some of my favorite authors are Kim Harrison, Karen Marie Moning, (fever series) Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson), and Jim Butcher just to name a few.
If I find a good story line I love to devour the series, one sometime one and half books a day…schedule permitting! Anyway I feel like I am among my own here.
I am thrilled to find a site like good reads and am looking forward to your recommendations.
Hello, I am HC, and might be the only one on this list who has not read the Twilight books, or seen the movies. I am a Joss Whedon fan, but actually prefer Firefly to Buffy. NOT a particularly big fan of Anne Rice - gotta have my humor, I guess. Kelley Armstrong is by far my favorite author of PNR, and I'm hoping to find similar authors here. I read through the intros and find it curious that not one person has mentioned Charles de Lint, whom I think of as an excellent urban fantasist. I have also read some Kim Harrison & Charlaine Harris. I enjoy fantasy AND sci fi, also PNR, mystery and fiction. and steampunk. Has anyone read "The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters"? Kind of amazing and intense... I also read a lot of kids and teen lit. Garth Nix, and the Abhorsen series are faves... Oh, and new to goodreads!
Hi Hepzibeth welcome to the group!I would not worry to much about not reading Twilight :-) There are so many great authors I hope you find some great books!
Happy Reading.
Hello my name is Lani im 28 years old. i love PNR. i'm biggest fan of BDB, SK, GS (LOTU).and my favorite chara is Simi.
thank u all..:)
Hi my name's Kimberly and my favorite genre is urban fantasy. My favorite author is Patricia Briggs and I think Mercy Thompsons is what got me hooked on reading and urban fantasy. I hope to find new books through this group.
Hey Kimberly welcome to the group! Never fear you will find so many books, out of curiosity have you read the Kitty series by Carrie Vaughn?
I just joined, my name is Den and I have read over 400 fantasy books in the last 4 years. I'm retired. I tend to favor the UF but obviously I've read the Epics too. I have read most of the authors you've listed but there are a couple I haven't read, which is my reason for joining this group. I also notice Devon Monks name missing, which you might try if you like UF. My last 30 books I have downloaded and read on my smart phone. It is also how I am posting this message. I still have mixed emotions between printed and eBooks.
Hi Dawn no I haven't read the Kitty Norville Series yet but I plan to. I actually bought 6 volumes of it at the Borders closing sale. Only costed me about $10! Have you read it? If so is it interesting?

Hi,My name is Felicity (36, from Sydney, Australia) and I have just joined. I love all things fantasy wether it be urban fantasy, fantasy romance or what I like to call epic fantasy.
I am currently reading:
I've read approx 500 fantasy books since Jan 2009 but am always looking for new authors and LOVE reading series books. My favourite authors at the moment are:
Jeaniene Frost
Patricia Brigges
Laurell K Hamilton
Chloe Neill
Ilona Andrews
Nalini Singh
JR Ward
Charlaine Harris
Is anyone reading another series at the moment they can recommend?
Hi Felicity! I'm another Sydneysider and your list of faves sounds pretty close to mine, so here are a couple of other things I like if you're looking for a new series. In urban fantasy, you might like to try Suzanne McLeod's series. I think the first one is called The Sweet Scent of Blood. And try Karen Chance's two series (which are interconnected)! In high fantasy / epic fantasy, Patrick Rothfuss's The Name of the Wind.
And if you want to explore steampunk, Gail Carriger's series (starting with Soulless) is awesome and fun and sexy and hilarious!
Hi Bell,Thanks for the info, I have read the first 2 Karen Chance books but will definitely look into your other suggestions. Great to chat with another Sydneysider....thanks again! :)
Hi Felicity, welcome to the group! There are a ton of books here are some of my suggestions Jane True, Jane Yellowrock series, Elemental Assassin, October Daye, The Hallows, Immortals after Dark, Georgina Kincaid, Anna Strong or Riley Jenson

I'll read just about any 'genre' as long as it has some kind of "Supernatural/Science Fiction" element. (heavy romance/erotica not my thing. Sookie is pushing it.)
I'm always on the look out for new books to read. I'm not much of an author worshipper, for me it's the story and not WHO wrote it. (learned my lesson from King himself, not much of a fan anymore.)
I work part-time and live in the middle of no-where with a bunch of animals, including my husband and son.
